The battle of two principles - the Bolt verdict

1.10.11
On Wednesdat the 28.9.11, Andrew Bolt was found guilty of breaching the racial discrimination act. This case is an important milestone in a continuing effort to restrict free speech in Australia. It has far reaching effects on every Australian into the future. This case was not just about Bolt, but about you and I. Every law that is passed has the potential of curtailing our freedoms all in the name of protecting another.?

On one side you have Andrew Bolt, a journalist and political commentator. Son of Dutch immigrants, widely travelled through his childhood and youth, having no exact place to call home. Openly agnostic and conservative, willing to question anything and anyone even from his own side of politics. Successful in his field, and becoming increasingly popular with mainstream Australia.

The current instability and inability of the current Labor - Green government has accelerated his commentary, and bought thousands of realistic Australians to understand the reality of the present. His dogged pursuit of such as questions as: "How much will the temperature drop as a result of this tax"? Has earned him the hostility of his critics, including the PM labelling the question as; "The Andrew Bolt question." Bolt rightly questions the Socialist programs that provide funding for minority groups in Australia, such as Aboriginal and Immigration groups. It is this questioning which has earned him favour with the Australian public, and has enraged the Greens leader Bob Brown, to take advantage of the News LTD, phone hacking scandal, as a tool to bring his enemy down.

Andrew Bolt stands for individuality, freedom of thought and expression, less legislation, more personal responsibility and the right to question any subject. Read more...

So all the sniveling do-gooders had their little win....who cares when you have 80% support!

Just read that interesting article on your Link , Julene.

I feel that I have a lot in common with Andrew- same age and mindset- say what we beleive in and stuff the consequences. More power to him.

Also your  Fairdinkum radio-link Leon is thorough as well.

82% of Australians do not agree with the verdict that found Andres Bolt guilty.

This should never have been a court case - he could have been corrected like anyone else would have been had it not been someone who tells it like it is.

Andrew had a say on his program yesterday and found supporters for his view and the impact of this verdict. The thing is, so many Australians do believe as he does and that's why he writes such opinions. He knows the average person has views on this and other issues but this is typical of this government to shut down any speech that may oppose them.

We have no lucky country anymore, but we do have one that is becoming entrenched in cotnrol by authorities.

If it does come,I suspect the public outcry will be as great,if not greater than the carbon tax. People are still annoyed about the lies over that.  Maybe the outcry will finally be great enough to remove this government and give us one we can trust finally.

I would suggest reading this: http://www.aar.com.au/pubs/cmt/fopriv30sep11.htm

Best to read the entire article & think how it may impact comment in the future.

Focus: Government consults on new right to sue for invasion of privacy

30 September 2011

In brief: Individuals could soon gain the right to sue other individuals and companies over serious invasions of privacy if the Federal Government adopts recommendations in a long-awaited issues paper.

I do hope he appeals the decision..

This is a real wedge issue. In context it follows the earlier calls by Brown and Gillard for media overhaul. It will come, its just when. No government that is dishonest can allow scutiny of its actions. You can also read the previous article at base of same page. Just think of all the policies they wont allow scrutiny or debate on.

  • An annexed NBN
  • Carbon Tax
  • Science of AGW
  • Dirty deals - Thomson
  • Gillards past arrangements
  • Etc

A topic that needs to be cleaned up & because the comment was from A.B they attack spurred on by the Agenda brigade. Past rulings of law allow this crap & it needs to be dealt with.
