Thank you Graham, Reuters could certainly do a follow up story that would not only have to be about us, as from what we are hearing we are not the only ones post drought that were treated so cruelly, one person in a Gvt department that works in a rural related department said something like " oh yes you are just caretakers during the drought" did not seem surprised at all that this had happened to us, not surprised that banks took Exceptional circumstances (drought) interest subsidies throughout the drought and then refused to assist farmers when they could have got of debt. Yes you are right, it was the worst dorught in the federations history, the farmers stuggled and prayed for rain from 2001 - 2009 with a few breaks in between only to be told to go. When the rains came they thanked God for looking after them not realising that they were going to be calling on God even more than they did in those shocking drought years. The problem also is the Gvt departments and their employees such as the rural financial counsellors don't appear to be able to report on what they are witnessing and i imagine that it is terrible in some cases, they would not have an easy job.

Claire..that would be a fantastic idea if Reuters could/would do a follow up story given that they had featrured you in their original article. So!!!...I found a submit link and sent a request off to them requesting exactly that. Request has been registered. Anything that helps MUST be done.

Request #24743 "Follow Up Story" created

Back in 2007 your paper did a report about water shortage and you featured a picture of Chris and Claire Preistley from Walgett Australia inspecting their cattle during a drought. See below link.

http://uk.reuters.com/article/2007/02/02/us-globalwarming-water-idU...

Wel...the drought broke but their bank decided to "break them" on top of the breaking drought. For full details please visitt he link below.

It would be good if your paper could do a "follow up" story on the state of the Preistlys today. A drought can be devastating but a bank can be far more devastating.

Thanks.

Love the passion and rawness I am seeing in people, if only these people were our leaders, people with strength, not fence sitters, political correctness and the scare factor are why this world is becomming so hopeless, instead of standing up people are expecting to be treated so shockingly by leaders

This is a story that Reuters did in 2007 using a photo of Chris and I during the drought, its a shame they won't do an updated story on what banks did to the family farmers when "Global Warming" did a turn around and the drought broke and farmers could trade out of debt

Another view of my favourite place in the world where the trains from Redfern sit overlooking Riverview Lagoon, in a flood this beats Sydney Harbour, or any other water view in the world Why? Because it is so unique to see it come alive when it is dry and bird life just takes it over and you know you have no control over what mother nature will serve you

Hi Claire..yes a very touching and poignant poster.....I just could not resist "sharing" it with Cameron just now. He has probably blocked my e mails by now but who knows.....Caption was

The New Face of NAB

Introduction was

"The devil went down to Wilcannia"...I hope the bastard sees it....

This is our reservoir with the irrigation and broadacre country behind it, my favourite place in the world that we can't return to, although I am told others are allowed there because the National Australia Bank wants to ensure they fill this res before the Qld waters go by,it has sat there doing nothing for too long.Don't even want to think about how much irrigated cotton could have come from that water storage since Jan 2010

Honest Government, Fair Rights to property and compensation, Australia and our people strong and proud, reinstatement of values and respect
