For Like minded people who like to see-
With so much you have to be careful of losing. Yes we do need Insurance, but then you really got to try and get you head around about the different types of Insurances, you do have to worry about what’s written in smaller print. Where you choose to live, is it in a flooded zone?, is it covered with storm, hailstone damage even and many others. Liability accidents when someone comes on to your property and hurts themselves, death even. Breakins are you fully covered there with the value of what its really worth?. Have you listed everything with jewelry, as if your not well then could be not covered. So much you have to be some sort of solicitor to sort through the lines, even down to medical it’s hard to know which is what.
Car insurance. Yes ours has dropped from $43.000 when first bought. Have seen a drop in value of course, had it for a couple of years now, last year was down to $36.000 fee $1.572.21 because we held a silver card discount was $268.74.at 96.53 a month. We are with the RACV, holding down rating 1 with no claims for years now, was nearly going to change last year, but they said you have only one more year to go and you will be on the gold card then, will be much cheaper for you if you stay on.
The year comes along, our car has drop to $31.600 but now great got a gold card now, yes hoping to see a good drop in insurance fee’s mainly because of the drop in the value of the car as well.
Ok how's these figures for you on a rating 1 driver for years now. $1615.08 discount on a gold card$ 438.00 so left to pay $1052.29. Pa at 99.88 a month for $31,600 2013
Last year $1024.29 pa at 96.53 a month for$ 36,105 2012
We have to pay an increase of $28.oo now, how do you figure that, rating 1 for years now.
I mean to say it’s dearer this year, even with the drop in value. Yes I guess many cars are lost through floods and fire as well as theft. But there has to be a better deal out there.
The Insurance companies are going to try and slug us for sure from all the bush fires floods lose of cars whatever. But how far can we go with this. We are being pushed with everything now. Electricity gas water, petrol, rates everyday living expenditure that’s needed. How far do we go with paying out for everything before we start to just drop away and not pay, trying to cover all bases is so dam hard now? But really their has to be a breaking point. All these big Insurance companies will raise their prices for sure to cover their costs.
I'm fed up with the RACV, has to be something better out there price wise. Would love to hear which one is good for insurance with cars. And even with houses love to hear your views, and possible help others out in the knowing where to go and possible change over to them.
RACV is too dear for me now. Tis time to change, have herd of I select car insurance, anyone had any dealings with them would be great to get some fed back, another said Coles interesting. Who would have thought will look into this one also? But would be great to hear some fed back on different insurance companies and charges.
Cheerio

Comment by Cate Stuart on February 20, 2013 at 11:31am Yep snakes in the grass alright. We have our insurance assessor here tomorrow - so will be interesting to see how things go..already the Insurer is making "funny" phone calls and emails..hm...we will see.
The reptile is just an ordinary brown snake - not copperhead or mulga snake. Nasty critter, and yep, he is / was a whopper!
Cheers Cate

Comment by Cate Stuart on February 17, 2013 at 8:10am Barb, good news about your nieces property being saved, bad news about the behaviour of those who were deceitful! I agree, shocking behaviour! Those poor people in such cold at King Lake..
No, we are fine, seriously good, one does not have to look very far at all to see someone far worse off than oneself - i live by that little mantra -
Comment by Barbara lee on February 16, 2013 at 7:42pm Hi Cate thats brilliant to hear. But with the king lake fires different story, herd of lots putting their hand out and receiving when they shouldn't have, my nieces' farm took much to save it, and won, thank heavens, went to work and found out a person had claimed on her property for fences and cattle ramps. They actual got away with the money because I think at the time Keven Rudd had said just give them any thing they wanted with out any questions. Well it turn out a free for all in the end. We had donated heaps at the time, and then we learn that some had to go into and through the winter with children in tents. kinglake can get so very cold with snow covering the ground. I get angry when I hear people just grabbing when they themselves have plenty. Tonight while I'm sitting here, I'm feeling guilty as I image different ones out there, in a so different frame of mind, thinking maybe this is it for me. All I can say is with all my heart hang in there. Sending you the biggest hugs, and hope you are feeling it, as I am truly thinking of you, hang in there please do. The clock never stays the same all the time changing and so does life.

Comment by Cate Stuart on February 15, 2013 at 3:10pm Actually Barb, you have touched on something there. I do know with the floods, that in one town, the money was donated to the local supermarket, and everyone who was flood affected had their accounts paid out of that money, and were able to buy groceries etc with donated funds. I think the same at the chemist as well - which helped a lot with things like ventolin etc.
But of course, in a small country town, that is easier to organize. But goes to show, where there is will there is a way :)
I like your idea about the rates too - that is an excellent way to verify who is who! Good job!
Comment by Barbara lee on February 15, 2013 at 11:14am Image that poor b.g.rs that haven't any Insurance on the different farms and just scraping by off the seat of their pants, would be so devastating, how you come back from that really. More cash donations needed to help out really, but not ending up in someone else's hip pocket. Every thing should be made voluntary right up to when the money gets distributed, looking at the rates payers list, as to whom is living on the farms before distributing as well, sick of grabbers getting the money and high tailing it out, or the ones who are coping without helping money putting their hand out because their neighbors got it. should be scrutinized and done quickly. Really things have to change in that department.

Comment by Barbara lee on February 15, 2013 at 9:12am Hi Cate, fogot to ask. How are you going?. and that you sure being put through your paces, with your injurious, trespassers shooters, tornado's,things flying around in the air. Not only will we need a four wheel drive we'll need a helmet now as well, maybe an armed four wheel drive, I know an army tank should do the trick for a next time visit.
Just playing around of course.
