Yes Cate the worst sort of ignorance is those that think they know or live in the past. I have forgotten all I knew about the land. I acknowledge it. My priorities are elsewhere which is raising my kid. All I am interested in is earning enough money legally and working to give him a decent education. People know better than to try and put down my child. Never come between a 'normal' mother and child, because you have a tiger by the tail. 

Hate the city and one day will be done with it and have a place somewhere either in the Shomron in Israel or in rural Victoria where I can live and write in peace after I have finished educating and rearing the boy. Living in the city and meeting idiots like these makes me hate people even more. I love my own company too much now and the more I live in the city, the less time I have for people and think more highly of children and animals. Animals because they are far smarter than we give them credit for and children because they are also smart and unspoiled lacking the manipulations and baggage of adults who betray and are totally self interested.

In the country I guess it must be that you can still like human beings because you have too little to do with them. In the city your contempt grows.

This country has gotten the worst government that they have ever known but who voted these idiots into power. The bulk of the urban population and they don't seem to think.

Just watched The Iron Lady with a friend of mine who is a holocaust survivor. Hungarian and very sweet lady but what she has been through in her life makes me thank G-D my life is so easy.

I like Maggie Thatcher - a lady of principles and she had balls like Golda Meir and Indri Ghandi . Those three were real female leaders, not some spiteful, disloyal backstabbing little lawyer redhead who cannot cope with commitment (why else has she never married and had children at least one) and who has no understanding of family and the issues of family and children.

The country is a real mess and the only thing that will pull us out is hard work, belt tightening and more hard work. Johnnie Howard was a great prime minister. Such a pity and how they repaid the man for his hard work and dedication but that is politics and it is a hard and vicious game of blame.

Yes gotta love the 'education revolution' that allows mickey mouse courses like these. People coming out of them thinking their 'S#*T doesn't stink and that cow pooh is a deadly environmental toxin. A three or even a five year uni degree will not help these people understand the land or the environmental issues or the challenges of competent land management. They just don't get it that it is not like learning and going out and practising. Most reasonably sa'avy ten years in the country on a property could tell these people a thing or two about stock handling, land management issues because they live it and anyone who has spent even ten years on the land and managed will know more than any stupid degree can teach these environmental scientists. they used to have Jackaroos and Jillaroos and after about four years they were being to be useful and could be called nearly station hands if they were reasonably dedicated and smart. A stockman was a title not lightly given to someone. Station hands and stockmen actually were not that 'unskilled' yet you get these people going in to some uni classroom lecture hall what ever and learning a bunch of theory and maybe a bit of practical stuff but not immersed in real country life except in some exceptional cases of people who have actually gone and lived the life.

I can read a few books on chinese history and study the language but I will not know the chinese lifestyle as well as someone who has lived in China as a child and brought up in the culture. The same goes for the bush and the outback. It is a different rhythm of life, mind set and it is connected to the land and the evironment in a way that no urbanite can be. That is why it is a real chutzpah to have these idiots in their government cars come on to people's properties and tell them how to manage it.Most of them have so little respect for the farmer or grazier and they have no idea of the issues faced and they look at short term perspectives. Weird and wacky ideas pour out and they wreck people's livelihoods with their rubbish.

Gotta laugh out of that Ilana- well done. I have struck this environmental scientist before and there are busloads of them.

               All revved up with nowhere to go but Govt agencies terrorising the public or into the Climate change industry. Whatever was wrong with the salt mines for job creation lol!
