Expanded Families

B'H

Been busy for some time. Too busy to upkeep my blogs as you will see. We have an expanded family down here at Modella. Seven geese (who think they own the place), six ducks who are looking more like dinner every day except for the three hens who I will keep for eggs and four chickens to name the…

What is the lesson of the Shoah? Holocaust Memorial Day is today.

Today is Yom Hashoah. It is a day of sadness for remembering the many lives cut off so brutally by Hitler and the Nazis (May Their Names and Heritages Be Erased From G-D ‘s Earth) But we should also make it a day to rejoice that there are those who survived and bear witness to the atrocities that were visited…

HELP SAVE THE LITTLE COMMUNITY OF MIGRON ISRAEL

B'H

This is about the community of Migron a village of 50 families in Israel who face forced evacuation from land that has been purchased from one family and now another claim it as theirs but they have as yet to produce documents to that effect. The second family's claim to the land where Migron is established is supported by a radical left wing socialist group called Peace Now. This group could quite honestly be renamed Create Conflict Now because that is what they do…

The illogical decisions of some of those with the power to be

1.       In Israel last month, Magen David Adom (the Israel equivalent  of the Red Cross and is an ambulance service) signed an agreement with the Red Cross which is an international organisation that goes to many places in the world to give aid and medical services to the sick and injured. This agreement is to get the Magen David Adom service not to go behind the so – called Green Line in Israel.  Two things are shocking about this, more shocking than the whole political…

A dark story with darker implications

A Post for little John Ashfield who died on August 4th 1993. My son was born on the 10th anniversary of his death.

I am not usually an advocate for the death penalty but I really do think that there are some crimes that a death penalty is needed to protect the vulnerable and weaker members of society.  Actually I do not like the death penalty at all but in some cases, you do think, society needs to be protected from people such as these.

Here is…

MARRIAGE RITES

Boy meets girl

emotional sparks

ignite

love or lust

time will tell.

They hold hands

They kiss

then it is hit or miss

Until

Boy will say

(sometimes)

Girl will say

'Let's make it formal'

True blue love

Before all and G-D

We want everyone to know

What we have is holy

Let's marry and vow

To carry each other

With G-D's…

Green Encounters in a Park and throwing bread to geez

B'H

Today I had an unusual encounter that riled my blood pressure no end. A friend and her daughter came over to visit and we took some gluten free bread that had moth infestation and some nice (sob) expensive liver cleanse cereal that is so yummy and had not been opened but was crawling with moth larvae to the geese, ducks and pigeons in the park. It is a waste to throw it in the bin and the larvae make a good bit of fresh protein that the geese, pigeons, ducks and…

This story breaks my heart

B'H

In a nutshell, we have a young widowed mum with a three month old baby. Her husband died of lung cancer and barely a week after she gets some callers and she knows they are not about to be paying a condolence visit, especially not armed with a knife and gun. One of them kicks the door of her house down and she shoots him dead as he enters. Bad enough that this kid and she is still a kid,is eighteen years old with a three month old baby to raise by herself, but she…

Interesting quotes from a very interesting lecture today

B'H

I am actually enjoying this series of lectures very much this year. I will check out the Chassidus (JEWISH PHILOSOPHY) shiur tomorrow. One element of lectures I always like to have is some proverbs or quotes that carry immense wisdom in a few short words or one short sentence. I have three to share with you today. Actually two as one is a story.…

9/11 and the New Anti Semistism, or is it really new?

B'H

I had the pleasure of one of the most interesting and upsetting lectures that I have been to for a long time.  Every year there is a learning program put on by various community groups in Melbourne. I did not get to go to many lectures last year as I was too busy with a lot of things and finishing off some writing, plus depressed a little by the lack of money over not working for the…

Poem Written by a Friend after you know who became our PM

B'H

Last night Shoshanna Silcove taped the third segment of our joint show. It will be a roaring success. It is about Education and children with learning difficulties. We had this wonderful guest. Gemma Wines is the mother of a child with diagnosed autism. She is a really gutsy lady and we hear about her journey with her child. She is inspirational and totally amazing. If you want to listen it is on…
