Rain, Rain & more rain...

Northwest NSW has been very fortunate since the end of 2007 to have enjoyed above average rainfall while many other areas have continued to be in drought mode.

However, what has happened in that period is paling in comparison to what we are experiencing at the moment. We have measured over 12 inches (300mm) since Christmas day and it is raining steadily again as I write here again today, and is predicted to continue all day tomorrow.

To put this in perspective, our long term average… Continue

Australia saved billions ?

I read "Minister Howard sold off Telstra with the purpose of giving $1.2 BILLION of this money to the NSW Government for farmer's and their land that had gone into the conservation sinks. Where has this money gone. Come on NSW Government show us where all this money has gone and get this man down from this mast." CAN THIS BE TRUE ? Did the Federal Government honour its constitutional obligations by handing the money to N.S.W. to compensate land holders like Peter, but the State reneged? How on… Continue

Sue Manton New Years Resolutions - Something that goes in one Year and out the Other.

What a relief, I don't have to worry about coming up with new year resolutions, I've still got last years up my sleeve.

Seriously I think in terms of the day's resolutions, not the year's and these people who ask, "what's your 5 year goal"..... well they need to get a life. All I can safely guarantee is the year ahead will have 365 days, other than that it's anyone's guess.

Well it seems I'm not alone in my lack of resolve, here's some thoughts from those far wiser than… Continue

Peter Spencer

Through you, may I please implore Peter Spencer to come down from his pole and live. He can now carry on the fight much better through living than through death. Thanks to a few dedicated media people, he is receiving the publicity that he needed and if he were to come down and recover, we would all march with him in support to Canberra and give the current appalling Fed. Govt. a mighty serve that only Australians can do so well. K. Rudd Esq. and the laughable Environment Minister are in for a… Continue

Health Care in Australia

In the USA our congress is trying to force all of us to buy insurance. They will fine us if we do not.

There are many ideas out here trying to sway public opinion, our congress has turned off their phones and email boxes are full. They refuse to listen to the people who put them in office.

My question......what is your system like? Are you required to buy insurance? Do you have to wait in line for regular maintenance? Canada is always used to show how bad a public policy would… Continue

Global Warming

I am not into conspiracy theories. However, when you think about the millenium bug,the salinity exaggeration of a few years ago, the continual threats to the Great Barrier Reef (whatever happened to the Crown-of-thorns-star-fish?) and now the global warming beat-up, you wonder.

The term 'climate change' is much better than 'global warming', as you can win allround. You can even blame the current record cold in the Northern Hemisphere on human activity.

The "climategate"… Continue

This is Appalling

I come from an Australian Military Family. That has served this country in War Time and Peace. That we as Australians reserve the rights our men and women of the Australian Military reserved for us all. To be abled to go and prosper. To achieve our desires to protect our families to feed our families and to be abled to grow in ourselvess Nationhood. But here is the epitomy of the unjust taking place upon 3000 of our fellow Aussies. Their families and their rights to own and farm land on their… Continue

Good News From Copenhagen

From The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley in Copenhagen

19 Dec 2009

The mountains shall labor, and what will be born? A stupid little mouse.

Thanks to hundreds of thousands of US citizens who contacted their elected representatives to protest about the unelected, communistic world government with near-infinite powers of taxation, regulation and intervention that was proposed in early drafts of the Copenhagen Treaty, there is no Copenhagen Treaty.… Continue

Rural water Management

Submission to Productivity Commission on Water Recovery

Overview

This submission is brief, long on assertion and short on evidence. This is not because the assertions are not defensible, but rather because of limited resources. I would be happy to enlarge verbally should the Commission be interested.

Assertions

1.The key characteristic of Australia’s inland rivers (where most irrigation takes place), is massive variability. For example, the Darling… Continue

Candid Socialist Reveals All

If you know someone who is not clear on what socialism is, under Day 26 of my hunger strike page is a remarkably candid question-and-answer session with a socialist revolutionary of today. Not for the weak of heart.

Michael Smith‘S editorial on 4BC yesterday seemed to go down very well:

Here’s a way to understand Mr Rudd’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme.

Imagine 1 kilometre of atmosphere that we want to rid of human carbon pollution. We’ll have a walk along it.

The first 770 metres are Nitrogen.

The next 210… Continue

Reducing speed on the roads

Premier Bligh's latest initiatives on speeding is nothing more than blatant revenue raising. If she was sincere about trying to reduce speed on the roads, she would increase the police presence on the road, not reduce it by providing unidentified police cars with speed cameras. When the public see intermittent police cars along the highway it reminds them to keep an eye on their speed.

Water

The issue of lack of water has been a long time issue of debate. Kevin Dudd is hell bent on locking Australia into the UN Treaty which is going to cost us unknown billions of $'s.

Would not all this money be better spent at home. The amount of water that runs into the oceans around Australia is an unknown quantity!

The Ord River Scheme is a prime example.

Back in the 80's we ran a gas pipeline (Moomba Pipeline from my reccollection) from Melbourne to Brisbane.

WHY is it not… Continue
