LNP and Labor Vote together to tell Whistle Blowers when they can talk to media

Dear Friends and Media,

The following extract from QLD Parliament's hansard might be a bit daunting, however it deals with a very important issue; Whistle Blowers and their ability to speak with the media in QLD.

A new piece of legislation has replaced the Whistle Blowers protection act and buried in the new legislation ( Public Interest disclosure Bill ) are some clauses which now make it even harder for genuine whistle blowers to speak to the media.

This… Continue

Government unveils Weipa asylum seeker detention centre plans (Weekend Cairns Post - 18/9/10)

This does not surprise me at all.

The blatant disception displayed by ALP will only grow. Isn't it enough that Wepia is forgotten by both Federal and State Government. Wepia Town Authority have an uphill battle with locals wanting to do their own economic development yet are unable to do so because Rio Tinto has total say over land development.

This is a blatant display of arogance by a government who has deleted the word democracy and transperancy from their vocab. Wait… Continue

Farmers / bats and duty of care

I put the EPA and DERM on notice today claiming that they have a DUTY OF CARE AS IN SECTION 289 of the Criminal code to get rid of fruit bats , The reason is that Bats carry dieses that can be transmited to humans and as the EPA and DERM are the managers of the bats they have a Duty of care to insure that any thing that could cause harm ( BATS ) or death is to be managed so no harm can come to humans . If you or any one now gets sick from being in contact with the bats they can talk to a leagle… Continue

Good Morning to All

We have a QLD State Election soon although 18 months away - it will be interesting to see how Federal ALP will deliver election promises to various electorates within this period prior to us going to the State polls.

International Star Endorses Wild Rivers

I found it very disturbing to think an International Hollywood Star was given so much media attention during her visit in Cairns. Ms Darryl Hannah was very public in stating her support for the Wild Rivers legislation and the need for our river systems not to be touched at all as reported on WIN News 9/9/10.

As a Traditional Owner from Cape York isn't it enough we have world heritage listing of the Cape by the QLD government scheduled for 2012 at our door step, with Wild Rivers as a… Continue

Bungled Adoptions - Messenger demands that Labor comes clean. 6.9.10.

Dear Editor,

A recent response from the Child Safety Minister to my “question on notice” (see attached questions & answers) about the QLD government’s mismanagement of adoption services has rung alarm bells and smells strongly of cover up.

After considering the minister’s response and the very sad and horrific experiences of a family who came to me for help, I fear that many QLD children,… Continue

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY BILL – Hansard Speech

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY BILL – Hansard Speech

Mr MESSENGER (Burnett—Ind) (4.22 pm): This bill is largely a good bill. It supports a worthwhile environmental and energy security initiative—geothermal energy. But this bill has been so badly contaminated with one small provision that will cause me to vote against this bill if it is not removed.

The minister in his second reading speech stated—

The Bill also clarifies that coal seam gas (CSG) proponents may… Continue

Letter to the Editor – ALP and LNP fail to protect Prime Farm Land

Dear Editor,

I’d like to draw your attention to an important event which happened in State Parliament last week, that both the ALP and LNP want to cover up and prefer not to talk about.

The six Independents were the only members of parliament who voted against the geothermal legislation in order to try and stop a provision, which will allow coal seam gas companies to, as reported in the Courier… Continue

Southern Australia has just received

drought breaking rains!

SO WHAT ? After near 30 years of record low rainfalls, are we about to forget the lack of water?

Appendix III in the document “Water – a grand vision”, a world climatologist gives us the data that the world weather goes in 30 years cycles. (contact Doug Harrison re "Water - a grand vision")

That means the 30 year cycle has returned to good years, right on cue !

In 2040, Australia will… Continue
