In the last year as with people and politics their have been the odd clashes within Agmates and a few of the originals have faded away.

I think it is worth holding together as though it is far from perfect- it keeps us in touch more than these so called Farmer Groups. NSW Farmers are the exception now as they have been behaving decently lately.

I am making an attempt to get a few of the originals back on now and again. I certainly valued your experience and opinions.

Hi Jennifer
thanks for the advice, this is the first time I have tried this method and I keep forgetting details. Zeus is 14.3hh, not broken as I never had the time and only just had his three yr old son broken. I still am retaining his 19yr old sire. I only have one foal from him from one serve. He really needs a strong hand and somethng to do. Cutting my numbers as I do not have the time. I beleive things are tough all over so it may be hard to find good homes for them right now.

Hi everyone. I am primarily involved in beef but decided to accept an invitation from a MG field officer to take on dairy heifer agistment. I've had various mobs of heifers come and go from different farmers from the Riverina to my place Red Bluff near Wodonga in the Kiewa River area.
It has been a steep learning curve and there were some tough times with drought and fires and just learning what I needed to do to keep feed ahead of them...and keep them growing. There were some anxious times too when calves in not such robust condition came in straight off pellets on to flush oat crop!!!! However I have loved every minute of it and have lots more to learn. being in a normally totally safe area in terms of rain and no issues with water it was an interesting exercise when clean water not feed was the hardest thing to keep up to them!!!
I have recently been co-opted to assist with selling selections of them to the Export scene...an eye opener and interesting process!!
Will contribute to this group if anyone wants to hear more of my view of things from the outside looking in. I am very anxious about the number of farmers locally in my area just deciding to toss the job in...and watching the free flow of dairy cows going through the cow mamrket distresses me so I have no doubt it has caused much gut wrenching in those who have decided to quit due to the past and latest round of cuts. I think it is criminal there has not been more support at Governmenet levels. We definitely have yet another farming industry very much in threat of extinction. Jen
