CSG gas is a fossil fuel. Burning it creates carbon emissions. Dirtier than coal, worse than shale.
What if producers started riding rough shot over you {politicans} and your family members? What if I just waked into your garden and started to lace your tank water with a toxic chemical. How would you feel, what would you do?. I would be arrested straight away. Well that is exactly what you {politicans} are doing to land owners, producers and town country people whos water supply often comes from underground Aqufas. I will be contacting Animals Australia and RSPCA as aggressive opponents to stop CSG mining. Both wild and domestic livestock may have their drinking water contaminated sometime in the near future. This is cruelty to animals at its worst as they may take days or weeks to suffer a painful death. I look forward to the day when government and miners are taken to court for manslaughter, animal cruelty, and contamination of irrigated crops.
The NLP and Labour are complete bloody failures, when it comes to protecting human and animal health. They are scared of big business, scared of not getting their Royalties to balance the budget. Who runs this country mining companies, bureacrates or elected ministers?
"Profits and dividends before people". For those who support Coal Seam Gas Production you are a disgrace to Humanity. Is chronic & acute sickness and possible death, the normal and accepted cost of doing business and balancing the budget? Maybe the government and miners are prepared to pay compensation for sickness and death. THERE ATTITUDE: "Its just one of the costs of doing business"
There are many many safer alternatives to harness energy: Solar, Wind, Torrefaction, { also known as biochar}, Biomass, Hydropower, Geothermal, and others.
A total and immediate ban on hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) must take place now.
No new coal seam gas mines or power plants; and invest in renewables. Don't worry about unemployment in the CSG industry, renewable energy development and harnessing power from these sources will fill these lost jobs. Besides human health comes before unemployment.
It can, must and will be stopped at any cost until it is 100% guaranteed safe. If this is not stopped rural producers, town and country people will leave and not vote for the traditional parties {Labour & NLP} They will turn to parties like Bob Katters and the Green Left.
Interesting article by the Green Left { http://www.greenleft.org.au/node/47808 }
The current Labour Party is not the labour party of the past, its lost contact with with its grass roots supporters.
As well, governments must give more rights to landowners on all mining activity.
Enough is Enough. Both sides of government have neglected and hurt food producers long enough.
