Real People - facing the forgotten issues with friendship and a little fun.
Update 3 October 2011
This tab is solely for making suggestions to improve the function of Just Grounds.
If you have questions about how current functions work, please go to the How do I ...? tab. You may find your answer there, or you can post a question.
If you have suggestions for activities that Just Grounds could partake in (eg. rallies, petitions), please post these in a discussion or blog for members to see and comment. (Preferably find a pre-existing discussion or blog on a similar topic.)
--o0o---
The purpose for this little corner of Just Grounds, the Suggestions tab, is for any suggestion you may have about improving the site or questions you may have about navigating around the site.
This page is not for suggestions about what activities that Just Grounds should partake in.
The management team will endeavour to check this regularly and take all ideas into consideration. Depending on how many we get, we may not respond directly. Cheers, Julene (on behalf of the team)

Comment by Dr Caroline Wright on May 9, 2012 at 12:20pm Somehow I have two discussions instead of one. In attempting to go back and edit my discussion I have now ended up with two. Could you please delete the earlier one and simply leave the more recent one.
Kind regards
Caroline
Comment by Cate Stuart on April 27, 2012 at 12:56pm Thanks Tony, do you guys also have the comments thing too? I cant access those either (I have 2) Cheers Cate
Al/ Cate .. it seems to be a widespread problem.. I have the same request which leads to my friends list without the option of delete or accept. Jan and Dale also are affected. Just in the process of notifying Rob to chase it up.
Comment by alan mikkelsen on April 26, 2012 at 8:30pm Cate, Ian, as my funny German friend Adrian says, in a terribly mournful voice, "Alannn (ie very drawn out :-) We are ze victeems!"
How b****y interesting though!
Cheers bro' al
Comment by Ian Macrae Yeates on April 26, 2012 at 8:26pm I initiated two friend requests now longstanding. However, having read Cate & Al's comments I will withdraw them so as not to cause technical difficulties.
Cheers Ian :)
Comment by Cate Stuart on April 26, 2012 at 8:13pm I have 2 profile comments that I cannot see. When I click on the notification, it shows nothing, just my already approved comments.
I also had 3 friend requests, 2 of them i declined when they showed up, and then when i have clicked on the last one, it shows nothing. I am not sure how long the comments or the friend requests have been sitting on my page, as i must admit i usually dont check them anymore.
After reading Al's comment below, i am not going to click on the friend request again just in case it is some virus. But any ideas about the 2 comments that I cannot see?
Cheers Cate :)
Comment by alan mikkelsen on April 26, 2012 at 2:13pm I noticed that I have received a new Friend Request, but when I have tried to open it to get the details, as usual,
a) At first nothing happened.
b) My persistence resulted in Windows Explorer 7 crashing.
What gives? All I can think of is that it was probably malicious, and the Norton 360 v6 (which does a thorough job) got sick of said persistence, and said, "well, b****r you then, take that"!
Can anyone more learned in the Ways of Ning please comment?
cheers bro' al
Comment by Beverley Prescott on December 29, 2011 at 8:44pm I was just about to suggest that also, Roger.
I think we have all lost things at some stage, Michael - it is so easy to do that when new to the site.
Write whatever you wish to say as a word document, highlight it, right click "copy," then come to the discussion window and place the cursor where you want the message to go and right click again and click "paste".
If you intend writing a long message, definitely do it as a word document first, and then copy and paste into the discussion window.
I usually just put short comments straight into the window.
Comment by Roger Rankin Crook on December 29, 2011 at 4:53pm Do what I do Michael P. Write it, copy it, file it, then post it on JG. Then you lose nothing.
Mind you, with all the re-cycling that is going on at present I admire the audacity of some.
Comment by Ralph Prestage on December 29, 2011 at 4:46pm Dale,
Thank you for your request for clarification.
I was in the process of entering a comment on "economic refugees" but befor it was completed my comment disappeared. The next day I attempted to find the earlier item but could not locate it so spent sometime trying to do this. I do not know its fate.
I feel everyone appreciates the massive amount of time required to maintain the site but the suggestions are not to create additional work but to simplify the site.
The idea is when a topic is closed or no longer available for comment whether intentional or by interference information is available to indicate this. The title of the comment to be shown under an appropriate heading. A comment may be "gone for some reason or another" but those that are following it may wish to know for certainty it has. Not being computer literate I am not aware of the ramifications.
Whilst programe changes may not be immediately available an opportunity may arise in the future and is a suggestion for this.
Comment by Michael Petterson on December 28, 2011 at 8:50pm Another point that since I used the Contact link here to send the mails the ideas I had in mind are essential locked in limbo. On other sites I do have the option to send myself a copy of the same message I send you,so I have a copy for my own records. If such an option could be implemented here,if it's possible, that would assist me in following up the ideas at a future date.
Michael and others,
Bottom line is that we have to self moderate- unfortunately we aren't kids anymore and in spite of all the gaffe above- the site runs on auto pilot most of the time.
Anything that gets deleted is "goone" for some reason or another. Some of us still have to work for a living and I know I don't have any patience for any silly nonsense.
Comment by Dale Stiller on December 28, 2011 at 8:33pm Michael,
Point taken, we should at the minium say that we recieved your message.
Ralph,
Am I right in that the core issue you are raising is for more certainty.
My intinial thoughts are that not all that you have suggested may be possible. We will have to think more about this one.
Cheers
Comment by Michael Petterson on December 28, 2011 at 7:58pm I also have a question for the Management team" over the past month or two, I have sent three e-mail on assorted subjects that I felt I needed a "Ok that's fine" on from the management group before I went further with the idea I had and I used the "contact us" link here to do so. I have not even received one post that my mails were read. Would it be possible for a mail that "ok we have read your message" to be sent in the future,if and when such mails are sent to the management team?
Comment by Ralph Prestage on December 28, 2011 at 7:49pm I have read the comments on suggestions. But would add this one.
I have looked for sites which I had seen the day before and noted that they may be available on Forum.
However if an item has been taken off or deleted can this be listed under the Forum column on the right hand side. The section could be headed "Deleted" then 2 divisions one "Voluntary" or "Intentional" the other say "Hacked" or "External". The subject name can be listed here until restored. It would provide surety that it is not lurking undetected somewhere.
Comment by Michael Petterson on October 13, 2011 at 11:31am I have a sugestion: there's far too much censoring of posts here without any measures taking to preserve the information in the posts. The "Occupy" thread seems to have been deleted, without any measures taken to preserve the suggestion in the thread. I do understand the forums does need to be moderated, but in future could the said posts be archived in some way,so the sugestions are still there and can be cross-posted to a new thread? Just loosing the suggestions when we are looking for ideas doesn't make any sense..
Comment by alan mikkelsen on October 13, 2011 at 10:33am That'll fix those 'lurkers' Dale! My you lot are up with it!! :-)
Cheers bro' al

Comment by alan mikkelsen on October 12, 2011 at 8:08pm I have just noticed something weird. When I visit JG I am normally already signed in from earlier on, or I sign in afresh. But if in a hurry, looking for something in particular quickly as I was just now, I might have a look without doing so.
I noticed that some posts which I knew were (or had been) there weren't showing up on the Main Page. I thought "What the ?", refreshed the page, same result. And then I signed in, and there were all the posts, up to date.
is this meant to happen? In other words, casual visitors / potential members can only access a 'delayed view' of what's going on? Or was it an aberration, and if so, i wonder how or why?

I too, am not management and hope I am not giving wrong advice. Just trying to help and see how that goes, Jillian.
