My colleage and the Leader of the Nationals in the Senate, Senator Barnaby Joyce, has launched a petition on his website to stop the ETS.

The Senate is due to debate the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme Bills in the last sitting session of the year, which starts on November 16. It is not too late to stop this massive new tax. The petition reads -
To the Honourable President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled:

The petition of the undersigned shows that we object to Australia adopting an Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and the Copenhagen Treaty as foreshadowed by the Rudd Government.

Your petitioners ask that the Senate reject the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme.

Please sign the petition and circulate it to your friends to sign as well.

Fiona, you are quite right that we are comming up to the crunch time. All the agmates will sign Barnaby and Cory's Petition and I feel that the liberals have felt enough pressure to at least have a conscience (backbone) vote on the ETS.

I feel that the ALP Senators have had a free ride on Krudd and Wong's underpants and deserve some intense Questioning to put them on record for their constituents Re job losses and extra taxes and basic cost increases.

I suspect some of them surely don't want to be responsible for selling us all down the toilet and would love a Backbone vote too. Within the marble halls down there -is this a chance or is this just wishfull thinking on my part?
