Population growth is the total problem. A problem of consumption of food and water resources to sustain it. Growth interferes with the natural order of things. If the situation is bad now with rising temperatures interfering with plant biology then another 2.8 billion souls by 2040 (U.N.figures), will add a huge impact to the environmental problems already known that have been the basis of Copenhagen.
The current climate debates will deal with the obvious but not likely to trust the scientific consensus to guide a politcal accord- ultimately the capacity to produce enough food on land that we already farm must be addressed. Not only for habitat but to expand the farming of commercial timber as a dual carbon sink and housing a rising population. While the present situation appears grim, and we have to live with our evolution but there is a larger dimension – the melting of the ice caps and the rising sea levels.
It is predicted that the North Polar regions will be clear of sheet ice within 25- 30 years but may be eartlier, and then start to freeze again. NASA Satellite current polar orbit has recorded huge depositions of snow in the Arctic, and so has the Christmas media. In that event, a high tide surge of 1.2 meters with rising sea levels is the subject of much deliberation for the low lying Pacific island nations as it will be for the Mayor of Glenelg in Adelaide and trigger the dilemma of a population shift to higher ground. With Best Wishes
Population growth? If we were allowed to grow food, instead of locking it up for bloody carbon sinks, there would be food to go around and plenty to spare and Peter Spencer would not be starving to death up a pole! If despots like Mugabe were allowing their people to grow food, there would be food to spare! Zimbabwe, when it was Rhodesia, was a net food EXPORTER! So was Ethiopia. But marxist/communist takeovers have made them nations with populations that would starve without charities. Mugabe had his hand out at Copenhagen for billions of dollars handouts, and you can bet it was only going to build him another palace, it wouldn't be going to feed his starving and repressed people! Population is not the problem, it's greenies and despots preventing food production and distribution, and would-be kings of the world turning traitor on their own countryfolks stopping them resolving the problems.
Were you somewhere else when it was discovered that the CO2 scam really WAS a farce, there was no global warming and that climate change was normal? Remember some emails showing how the IPCC "scientists" were committing FRAUD to make it LOOK like we were going to have global warming, just so they could continue receiving the TRILLIONS of dollars of research money grants? Remember pictures of Al Gore running away from prearranged meetings and presentations so he wouldn't have to answer some inconvenient questions?
As for the scam of oceans rising, if only ONE island in a group has sea levels rising, guess what - THE WATER LEVEL IS CONSTANT across all the islands. Some sand, mud or coral atoll islands ARE SINKING! But the water level rises about .8mm per year. And if sea level rising was an issue, why did Al Gore buy a sea level waterfront mansion, right in the danger zone of the so-called sea level rises?
Wake up to yourself Bob.. Unless of course you really just do have a funny sense of humour and wanted to see if anyone was watching!
Nothing much to worry about here, no news here, move on, some ancient recording just found the airwaves... Note to self - Must get that system fault fixed. This crap has already been dealt with!
Simple..pay us a profit and we will grow the food...simple...I suppose the snow in the Northern winter is cliamate change..crikey, I believe in a diverity of opinion, but I thought this debate was over. I must of missed something Bob.
Perhaps not so simple Rowell, least of all here in the Murraylands struggling to grow enough hay for the stock these past 4 years as an example of how there is no profit if there be no crop. In the meantime , population to our North is growing at the rate of 20 million every 3 months (FAO figures), hence the U.N. predicating a 2.8 billion increase over the next 40 years. Thats one third. Consider, that if you are a farmer, and the seasons are perfect every year can you increase your volume by one third over 40 years to keep up? Just a hypothetical, of course. Rice did reach $1000 a tonne not so long ago.
I don't think the debate will go away until after The Government is forced to scrap the ETS...one way or another. In the meantime Lake Eyre has filled for the 5th time in my lifetime to again change the climate to support a few good years from now on. I have just joined and got stomped on pretty hard but Cate picked me up.
