Real People - facing the forgotten issues with friendship and a little fun.
Australians BEWARE..
At present there are Only 2 Levels of Government in The Australian Constitution.
You only need to obey Federal Government and State Government laws if the are Constitutional. If you know how to use The Australian Constitution you can beet most all charges by Local Government and Councils. But this WILL NOT APPLY if the Australian Constitution is changed.
It is Very Important you See This Information

Maybe I am just thick, but I don't get this thread.

Permalink Reply by Dale Stiller on December 24, 2011 at 12:52am Nor I, Roger. I find this discussion over alarmist based on very little information. If there is any legislation on its way to recognise local government in the consitution then depending on how it is written it could be a very good thing or a very poor outcome.
This isn't on PRA's current agenda. However the actions of some individual councils under current consitutional arrangements are on the watchlist; for example LEP's in NSW.
To learn about LEP's go to Damien Rogers disscussion, Please Help. Damien's expierence is confirmed by a comment on page 4 by Alex Davidson.

Permalink Reply by Ian Macrae Yeates on December 24, 2011 at 7:04am I thought I might outline for those outside Toowoomba Regional Council area (most here!) how the amalgamation took effect in the personnel elected in March 2007. It makes an interesting study in voting bahaviour. I believe this tier of Government is very important. It more closely represents the grass roots including property rights.
Peter Taylor who had been Chairman of Jondaryan Shire was elected mayor. Ian Knight had been an effective Councillor during the terms of Clive Berghoffer, Tony Bourke and Diane Thorley. However I believe he sensed before the election that his bid for the top job was not to be successful. Since then he has become a highly successful real estate manager.
Paul Antonio was the longtime Chairman of Millmerran Shire and is currently Deputy Mayor of TRC.
Joe Ramia was TCC Deputy mayor before being relected to TRC.
Ros Scotney was mayor of Pittsworth Shire before being elected to TRC.
Carol Taylor was mayor of Cambooya Shire before her election to TRC.
Anne Glasheen was Deputy Mayor of Clifton Shire before being elected to TRC.
The late, deeply mourned Ian Orford was Peter Taylor's deputy at Oakey. In the by-election following Ian's death, a perhaps prescient Toowoomba, chose a local businessman and son of a former federal minister, John McVeigh.
Noel Strohfelt was the mayor of Rosalie Shire before his election to the TRC.
Bill Cahill was a Crows's Nest Shire Councillor before an expensive advertising campaign saw him elected to the inaugural TRC.
Mike Williams, a son of the legendary RM Williams, was the deputy mayor of Cambooya Shire before being elected to TRC.
Peter Marks was a prominent Toowoomba businessman before narrowly securing the final position on the TRC. (The list is not otherwise necessarily in order of voting percentages though!) Cr Marks edged out Michelle Schneider (Ruby Slippez) who had been a very popular Councillor on the TCC.
I thought that distribution of councillors noteworthy and the question now is what will happen in March 2012?
Permalink Reply by Ian Macrae Yeates on December 24, 2011 at 10:15am Of course the election was March 2008 (4 year term)

When I was growing up in Melbourne we had a great local council, great parks big block of land with trees birds, It was paradise. Then labour got in and stuffed the state up. Jeff Kennett then was elected and to save money amalgamated local councils and our Moorabbin council was take over by Glen Iris council 8 miles away.
Now where I liveded looks more like a Russian town two houses on every block, blocks joined together, no trees, no birds, local park has no hedge lots of buildings in the park and you would swear you were in STALINGRAD or KIEV. Not Australia.
Just imaging what they would do if they could make their own laws. The did this through regulations.
Today you can beat most traffic charges and councils laws as they are unconstitutional so they have no real authority. Think twice before you vote yes when this comes up.

If Councils get more power we are in big trouble as many Councils have signed up to the U.N. Environmental Laws Through The I.C.L.E.I. Local Government For Sustainability. See Councils Who have Signed On Already

Permalink Reply by Michael Petterson on December 24, 2011 at 7:37pm But just how do you inform your local council just what they have signed up to,without sounding like a complete nutcase? I see my council on the list, but I'm somewhat unsure just how to write to them,in a manner that they will take seriously about this matter.
Permalink Reply by Michaelng Clayton on December 24, 2011 at 9:07pm Hello Michael
I think the way to do this is to go to a council meeting and introduce yourself to some members, remember many councilors are green or labour people are in councils to support this. Sound out the councilors and find one who will listen and work to bring this matter up for open discussion. Tell everyone in your area who you know; friends, builders, shopkeepers land owners as this will effect them the most. Put a joint letter together, then submit it at council meetings, bring along people with you who support you, people who want to retain their freedoms.

Permalink Reply by Michael Petterson on December 25, 2011 at 9:12am Would my local MP be able to assist in this as well, because frankly I stink at talking to people. I tend to get tongue-tied and nervous and forget what I came to say, with people I don't know, which is why I mostly resort to letter-writing to get my point across. I'm not sure who else in my area (Clarence Valley) is aware of these issues,as I've seen plenty of interest in CSG mining and the carbon tax,but this seems to fall under people's radar,so to speak.

Michaelng Clayton you have identified what is becoming the greatest challenge to our civil liberties with the complete domination of our society by the UN through the subservient councils. It is also unbelievable that it is approved by the Federal and State government.
Just who protects the Australian public ??
In WA submissions had been called for relating to the "Metropolitan Local Government Review Panel" which closed on the 23.12.11. these can be read at http://www.metroreview.dlg.wa.gov.au/ , and clicking on "Submissions have now closed" which also lists those made.
Until as I suspect they will be removed. By date those who have had council dealings, (plus others) are lodged by; Ralph Prestage 23.12.11, John Kitching 22.12.11, Trevor Prestage 21.12.11, Linda Macri 20.12.11, Helen Leeder 16.12.11 all of whom have had dealings with the corruption permeating through the metropolitan councils and extending to the WA Planning Commission and Dept Environmental Protection (who recently contributed to the massive loss of of 40 homes at Margaret River due to their back burning).
At the Nedlands council a policy was introduced that no tree branch larger than 50 mm could be removed without prior council approval. That meant when a weekend activity was cancelled a home owner could not attend trimming trees on their property as no approval had been sought and the ignorant environmentalists keen to report them with substantial fines. Thanks to a group of residents spear headed by a previous member of parliament those "Green" members were voted out at the first election.
Regardless of indoctrinated ideology this threat to our social living standards cannot be ignored.
Then of course as we are headed for complete loss of our identity and financial devastation by wasted government spending and gifting to the world all beyond our means, common sense will never prevail amoungst these blinkered ideologists.
