Yesterday Ken Wilkie and I sat down at Ken’s home to write a letter regarding the new registration to be sent to all transport ministers and shadow transport ministers and the NTC.Most of the morning was spent researching to find the information for each state. I would like to thank Ken’s daughter Kayleen for her efforts on the internet, Mr Peter Swift for faxing his renewal notices to us and the information he gave by phone, Mr Rick Finning for faxing the Victorian rules to us.
With this information at hand we discovered that Western Australia have not adopted the new charging system at all. Western Australia has cheaper registration across the board and trailers are still charged by the amount of axles they have not whether they are lead trailers or back trailers.
The only other registration that was cheaper in total was the Federal Interstate Registration however there are restrictions (NO INTRA STATE LOADS CAN BE CARRIED ON FIRS REGISTRATION).
All other states and the Northern Territory have the exact same registration which was recommended by the NTC.
With Ken’s brain working overtime and me typing and putting in suggestions we collectively managed to write a letter expressing our opposition to this unfair and bias way of charging to registration and the way in which it will impact on the end user.
With the Increases effective as of the 1st July 2010 are as follows
MULTI COMBINATION PRIME MOVERS 3 AXLE (12 MONTHS)
QLD, NSW, VIC, NT & SA: $ 7582 PLUS CTP
WESTERN AUSTRALIA: $7276 PLUS CTP
FEDERAL INTERSTATE: $7582 PLUS CTP

LEAD TRAILERS IN B/DOUBLE AND LEAD/MIDDLE TRAILERS IN B/TRIPPLE 3 AXLE (12 MONTHS)
QLD, NSW, VIC, NT &SA: $6372
WESTERN AUSTRALIA; NOT APPLICABLE SAME AS BACK TRAILER
FEDERAL INTERSTATE: $2124

TAIL TRAILER OR SINGLE TRAILER 3 AXLES (12 MONTHS)
QLD, NSW, VIC, NT & SA: $1386
WESTERN AUSTRALIA: $1176
FEDERAL INTERSTATE: $ 462

I recommend to all our members to write to both your state and federal politicians from your personal point of view expressing views on these current charges, I feel the Association alone will not have enough effect however if we make sure all our local members are getting the message we are not happy there just might be a better chance of getting this fixed.

THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE THAT HELPED ME COMPILE THE INFORMATION AND WRITE THE NRFA LETTER TO THE MINISTERS AND NTC.

One thing I have found about WA though, is that you have to be accredited to enter there. They sent me an email there stating that i can only enter their state 3 more times without accreditation with a single, and cannot enter with a road train at all without it. I thought we lived in Australia, that my vehicles were all registered to travel in Australia, and that I got inspected annually in NSW (as I do). The whole country, and I mean the whole country, is a joke.

I beleive that all of the statres and this includes western australia have figured out that bloody B doubles are a menace on the roads and instead of banning them they are now trying to price them off of the road . Its a bit like the dick heads that said that air bags are more road friendly and they destroy our roads ..But yes I have writen to ALL members of parliment in regards to the increases and also in regards to having one lot of laws and regulations in Every state .
Hey Ken and Darryl,

Great work, we are having a meeting with Ray Hopper at Pitsworth this morning and are going armed with a lot of figures. This info only makes it better. This must be taken public. We must make every ens user see they are being ripped of. I am also presenting Peter's rego proposal to Ray at the meeting.
Good on you Russ,
Stick it up them at the Pittsworth meeting.
I,ve been busy writing a few letters to different people as well.
Albanese and Nick Dimopoulos and others.
Nat roads are full of insults in a few articles at the moment I see too.!
Losers .
No one left in their group soon .Everyone will wake up to the fact that they are scamming their members and not helping them .
Any organisation that gets government funding in the name of reform and safety is not going to stick it up the regulators.
The only reason why they still have a few members is because of their b******* fuel deal.
catch up with you one day Russ,
cheers.
Russ & Noel,
We need to keep the pressure up on all our elected members of parliment especially with the federal election looming. All members need to do their bit in writing to their members, people power I think they call it. Great work.
Funny thing about that fuel deal, whilst I was still in Natroad, I never really saw any benefit, I got a better deal generally on my own and by looking around. Not once did i receive the 4 cent a litre discount from BP.

Dallas.
Hi Fella's,

Today my brother Steve had a meeting with Ian McFarlane and once again presented Peter's submission to Ken Henry and a copy of the post above researched by Darryl and Ken Wilkie. As yet I have not recieved a report on how it went.

May I suggest to others to post their results also as I think it does act as a cattalist and encourages more action.

Sadly I am now going to be back on the road for a fair while and will be horribly busy as my brother is going in for major back surgery in Brisbane on Sunday and I am going to have to keep 3 trucks organised as well as drive.

So fellas keep it safe and I'll catch up.
Cheers
Russ
