Welcome to the AGMates LDP Community

The Liberal Democratic Party position sometimes confuses those who like to apply left and right labels to political ideologies. Free trade and cutting taxes is considered to be right wing while social tolerance is considered left wing. We don’t fit in the normal idea of a political spectrum.

In reality the political spectrum is a line starting with liberty at one end going through various degrees of state control of economic and social liberties, to complete state control and tyranny at the other. We are on the Liberty end of the line.

Our positions have the principle of decreasing the role of government. They differ from "left-wing" people who often want the government to control the economy but not our social lives, and from "right-wing" people who want the government to control our social lives but not the economy.

Real liberals until now have only had the conservative, Liberal party to go to. We offer them a real alternative.
