Blue Hors Matine Dressage Mare Deceased

On 25th Jan 2010, the beautiful danish mare Blue Hors Matine, was euthanized for a broken leg which she sustained in the paddock, during a well earned rest. While I'm not a dressage follower, I love to see a good horse and this mare was one of the very best. She was only 13yrs when she died and would have been a wonderful broodmare for the future.

I first noticed the mare when she and Andreas Helgstrand put in an incredible freestyle performance (their own pattern ridden to music) for the World Equestrian Games 2006, which has had over 10million youtube hits. If you watch the clip (7mins) you will see the mare is not just responding to cues she is literally dancing.

I have just had a look at this wonderful mare on you tube. She is fantastic. A big shame she broke her leg. Just imagine what she would have been doing in her later teenage years.

OMG I just joined...and I adored that horse, I cried watching her for sheer beauty and joy in her performance.
truly the most astounding thing I had ever seen.
how utterly devastated her owner must be.
and now I am crying again.
Poor darling.
