Wake up Dairymen and women - there is need for you to comment in here once again please.

There are many who are supporting you, and most especially in light of the recent meetings where Joyce, katter and the Dr spoke - if you are uniting let us here on the site know, so we can give you guys more exposure and support!

So, let me get this right, John Cartwright, is the only dairy farmer on this group, who has been affected from live exporting of heifers to China in the last 3 months? Hmm so if that is the case, how on earth is he, and all of you paying your bills? You cant be! What an incompetant govt we have that stops productive people from being productive especially in the chain of food supply - just stupidity!

Darkest hour 's before the dawn they reckon! I see all these names here and hope you are all finding your way somehow.

G'Day Madeleline and John,

John you just take care of yourself - and Shirl of course - you know you have many people who care about you both on this site :) I am fully aware of the effort it took you to reply - would really like some of the other dairy men and women on here as well, to take you up on your offer to add a comment or two - we need to hear from the real dairy people in the front line - so that others may read your comments about your livlihoods and what is happening.

Great to see you are still online Madeleine, it seems like a life time ago we were discussing GM crops ..maybe 2009 -2010? Hope you are keeping well in your part of Australia.

Cheers Cate

Hello Cate
Sorry it has taken so long to reply, since the bad news on my health i have slowed down a lot.
But i am still alive and doing better than the Dr's said i would be.
As for the other dairy farmers they probably have their head down and a se up just trying to survive if they can.
At the moment down victoria way they will be trying to get by receiving about 25 cents a litre spring prices and i can tell you that you can not run a dairy farm on that.
Every thing i predicted about deregulation has come true.
I now watch the moaning going on about the $1.00 a litre milk at the supermarkets and how it is hurting the farmers by our so called industry leaders.
Well in my opinion you can not vote for the removal of set pricing structure and leave it to the power of the supermarkets to give you a good price.
So to wrap up the QLD,NSW AND WA dairy industry as we once knew it it all but stuffed. And not much better any where else.
A lot of farmers have come to include export heifers in their budgets but that has been well and truely stuffed as well at the moment.
Know of one farmer who was into export in a big way and he has not sold a animal in the last 5 months.
Got to go now so hope a few more dairy farmers would comment as well,so come on people.

Quiet on this group - so anyone care to give an update how things are going in the dairy industry in different states?

Also, what was your thoughts on live x and dairy cattle being caught up in that "little debacle".

How is my old mate John Cartwright doing? :)

Did enjoy very much........ more milk

Comment by Vi Pretty on February 22, 2011 at 10:06pm

Hi just lending a hand here.

Dairing at this current time.

Farmers can either milk for milk money or sit back relax and let the calves suckle off a/milking cow.

Markets showing prefferably a registered hefier or just a black white hefier brings in bigger & better dollars to live off.

Exporting is a bigg boom. So if people can track down breeding your laughing all the way to the bank...

cheers
