Been out of action here on Agmates for the past week fighting bush fires!!!. Already!! and we are barely into spring!! Saved the house and paddocks!!!! just....took 2 helicoptors to stop the fire that traveled down my mountain and onto the paddocks via 6 ridges!!! I was busy slashing strips on the ridges near the bush, then waited until the fire came out into the open, then all hell broke loose trying to put it out!!!!! Fantastic heli pilots!!! and wonderful fire crews! Thank you to you all!!!!!

The Federal Government announced today that Exceptional Circumstances will be declared and drought assistance will be provided in the Bega Valley until 2011.

Many thanks to you Fay. Similar weather here on the coast. Dry after 3 months of floods!! Green and no growth yet. My cows and calves are needing some fresh feed to fill their bellies!! We have had a couple of storms as well, no rain in it tho'....plenty of nitrogen!!! Cheers for now Deborah

While so much of the country to the south is still drought affected here on the Granite Belt of southern Queensland we are experiencing an early spring, including storms bringing rain. Our countryside is green, our river and dams are full. My offer still stands offering a free break to those drought stricken families unable to afford a holiday this year. Thanks Kate. Over the years I have found out that fair dinkum farmers are the only people that understand fair dinkum farmers!!!! and when your blood flows in your land and livestock, sometimes it is really hard to get others to understand!!! Yes, hopefully we are there for each other, with people who do know and do understand some of the challenges and hardships of life on the land!!!!
38 on the back verandah already!!! where are you?. Cheers Deborah
