Real People - facing the forgotten issues with friendship and a little fun.
The Queensland Party would like to thank all members who took the time to verify their membership.
The Electoral Commission of Queensland has advised that of the 700 members on our books, 400 members verified their membership. This falls short of the required 500 members who are electors.
The ECQ has cancelled The Queensland Party’s registration, and has posted the notice on the website.
The Queensland Party intends to run candidates in the upcoming Queensland election. This cancellation does not hinder The Queensland Party’s ability to contest the next election; all it means is that the Party name will not be on this year’s ballot paper.
The Queensland Party is here for the long haul, not the short media cycle. Despite efforts to destroy us, we have only grown stronger with more members joining every single day.
Queenslanders have joined in numbers, and keep joining. Why?
The Queensland Party will be making significant progress towards growing our numbers into the thousands, and will make some important announcements concerning membership, registration, sponsorship, policy and candidates.
We are only just getting this Party started.
Thank you again for your support.
The Queensland Party has met with difficult turf before, and we are not backing down now.

Permalink Reply by Dale Stiller on January 11, 2012 at 5:22am Does this mean that close to 40% of those who applied for membership failed to verified their membership with the Electoral Commission of Queensland? I would have thought that people who applied for membership of a political party would've been a more motivated group of people than the community average. Obviously that isn't the case.
Permalink Reply by Ruth Bonnett on January 13, 2012 at 12:04pm Hi Dale,
There are lots of reasons people would not necessarily had responded or verified their membership. Many members reported not receiving their confirmation letters. Some members got the wrong member's letter. Some just probably thought that with 700 members, 'someone else' could do it. Nonetheless, we think we need just over one thousand members before we go back to get our registration. The Queensland Party will be making some announcements shortly.
