Back BONNETT for Local Motive

Independent Candidate for Brisbane Central, Ruth Bonnett, lives in Brisbane Central, and has done for seven years.

Newman lives in Brisbane Central, but is running in Ashgrove.   The LNP’s  Cavallucci reportedly lives in Stafford, but is standing in Brisbane Central.

“Both Ashgrove and Brisbane Central residents may well wonder why the ‘can do’ LNP won’t stand local candidates in their electorates.”

“Seems to be another case of ‘Can Do’ -  anywhere but home.”

“Brisbane Central residents may well remember Newman’s record of increased costs, intrusive bike hire schemes which pinched the business parking for yellow bikes now on proud display, garish billboards, astronomical rates for commercial strata units and his ‘pick and pay’ rates strategy for unit owners, which drove rents up, forced students to cram into tiny apartments and forced many pensioners out of their homes.”

“I hope that the good people of Ashgrove do their homework on Newman’s record in Brisbane Central, where he lives.  Indeed, Ashgrove voters may have to ‘follow him home’ to know him.”

“Brisbane Central residents can ‘back Bonnett’ as a local candidate who will do exactly what she says: cut the cost of living, protect businesses jobs and cash flow, build and support strong local communities and advocate for practical environmental policy.”

Just got around to reading this, Ruth.

You mention Campbell Newman living in Brisbane Central and running in the seat of Ashgrove.

I don't think that is illegal.

If you want to really look at where people live and what electorates members have to contend with in North Queensland then take a look at the electorate of Dalrymple.

You people in Brisbane are fortunate that you can live almost anywhere and only have short distances to cover whatever electorate it is.

Ours - thanks to the Electoral Commission advised by the Labor Government of Queensland covers

from the Atherton Tablelands way down to Moranbah west of Mackay.  I just forget the square kilometres it covers but it is a five hour drive from the the northern most town in the north to Charters Towers, only half way to Moranbah.

That was only done to get rid of the One Nation Party.  If they can't get someone one way, they will get them another.

And you are worrying about a bloke who lives five minutes away?

I notice this morning that Ronan Lee stood for Indooroopilly in the 2009 election but he is standing for Mt. Cootha this time to oust Andrew Fraser.

Hi Beverley,

Thanks.  Polling suggests the electorate of Ashgrove is not bothered that he does not live there, so I will not be arguing on that point, rather the point that he won't stand where he lives.

Next media release out soon.
