CASE TO ANSWER: Prosecutors called in to investigate Thomson report
FWA's general manager Bernadette O'Neill, in a statement released today, said the 1100-page report included 181 contraventions of workplace laws.

The investigation looked at the union's financial management under former general secretary and now federal Labor MP Craig Thomson.

I'm sure Mr Slipper will be able to meet the costs from the $1,000 per DAY he is receiving while he is suspended.

Kevin Rudd a favourite to challenge Julia Gillard . . . again

VICTORIAN ALP and union sources say a fresh leadership challenge against Julia Gillard could be mounted by August, with Kevin Rudd still considered the best option.

But it is believed some Labor MPs are pushing for a ticket led by Defence Minister Stephen Smith with Employment Minister Bill Shorten as his deputy.

I bet Oakeshot is salivating over this, it would be fun to watch, but I really want it over, I agree, Call an Election Now! Just to see this socialist mob get squashed and not get their carbon tax up fantastic!!

Did anyone see Bill Shorten in his press conference this afternoon, re the HSU. He was sickening revolting! As they all are.

Jan Courtney said:

Yes I did read that Vivienne,  but I thought that in the context of the piece that latter comment was more relevant.

Can you just see Boofhead as Speaker ?    How long would it take him to make a ruling ?

Perhaps the ABC would forbid it as they would lose QT viewers by the bucketload, unable to look at that inane grin any longer.

but I really want it over, I agree, Call an Election Now! ...vivienne

I'm with you 100% on that one Denise and Vivienne.

The Australian Parliament has been literally desecrated  by this unprincipled rabble that call themselves a government.

As Kathy Jackson said, why didn't they do it 8 months ago when she was asking for help, same goes for the ACTU, What happened to Gillards Mantra, Not the Governments place to get involved.

Regarding Slipper:

OPPOSITION frontbencher George Brandis says Speaker Peter Slipper may not be entitled to a presumption of innocence over a sexual harassment lawsuit because it falls under the Fair Work Act.

"Under section 361 of the Fair Work Act there is a reverse onus, a presumption against the person against whom the complaint is brought," he told Sky News today.

"The Labor Party have tripped over themselves. They have been saying there should be a presumption of innocence.

"(But) they wrote into their own act - against the objections of the coalition at the time - a presumption of guilt."

Well!!!

Bill Shorten has moved the focus from Slipper to the HSU by appointing an administrator. Interesting as this is Government intervention in Union Disputes.

Kind regards

Federal Liberal MP Patrick Secker has denied he is considering replacing Mr Slipper in the Speaker's chair.

A media report today said Mr Secker, a long-serving backbencher who recently lost his preselection, would consider running for Speaker if Mr Slipper could not return to the role.

Mr Secker today issued a statement denying the News Limited report.

"The Australian has today reported that should the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Peter Slipper, not be able to continue in the role, that I would be prepared to consider accepting an offer from the Labor Party to replace him," he said.

"This is absolutely false."

Opposition leader Tony Abbott said Mr Secker had been a loyal Liberal for 30 years.

"Like most Australians he wants to change this government, not prop it up," he said in Adelaide.

FOREIGN Minister Bob Carr has dismissed the Peter Slipper scandal as “a temporary federal issue” of no interest internationally.

Ha Ha, he wishes it weren't of any interest....why do they go overseas and make these unbelievable statements to muddy the waters. He knows how much the Thomson matter stinks to the whole country and other people are watching the proceedings from afar.

Bob Carr is another noose around the neck of the Labor Party. A lot of people did not want him there and I have no idea why Gillard pulled him out of retirement knowing how the people of NSW feel about him. Absolutely useless government from the time they made him leader. He started the rot....

Sorry Geoff!

Rae Billett said:

Yes Geoff, it shows the type of people who believe Bob's fuzzy BS. The sad thing is unfortunately this government thinks we are all as gullible as the people who vote Green and love Bob!

As it turns out Christine Milne was the architect of the $23/tonne CO2 tax and doesn't it show when you hear her banging the AGW/climate change drum.

So Bob decided to jump ship seeing the Greens are going to take a hammering in the next election. The people despise the CO2 tax and the Greens for forcing the issue so, let Milne wear it, why not, it's her baby. The Greens will suffer as much as Labor in the next election no matter how they try to rebuild their credibility, if they ever had any.

Hi Beverley,

Did you watch the Bob Brown "Love In" on Q & A tonight ?

So much crap it's not worth repeating.

Normally I can't stand to watch Tony Jones's circus, as I'll just get angry. But watching Brown, and seeing some of the tweets that come in was just about enough to make me puke, but it also showed that the Greens have a faithful following.

I fail to see why.

Tony Abbott and a lot of the coalition I do feel happy about, but Greg Hunt as the Environment Minister and Malcolm Turnbull, whatever ministry he would end up with, both make me feel uneasy.

this is very funny

Oh dear it doesn't show.

Julia is sitting on the bed and she says "earlier in the year I lost a shoe now I've lost a slipper"

Tim says 'it may be in the closet.'

Isn't it a pity the the old "Consorting" laws don't exist any more,  that would do both of them in.

Denise Scanlan said:

Slippers co-conspirator into his misuse of cabcharge dockets has a history of fraud himself. Even when Slipper produced cabcharge dockets that were sequential, haven't helped but hindered Slippers case.

THE limousine driver at the centre of claims Peter Slipper misused his travel entitlements was convicted of forging Cabcharge dockets in 2002.

Antwan Kaikaty, who has been driving the Speaker for 19 years, was convicted of stealing a mobile phone and money from a female passenger, who was also indecently assaulted, according to the NSW Administrative Decisions Tribunal.

Mr Kaikaty, who spoke with Australian Federal Police officers yesterday, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, but given a suspended sentence.

The explosive revelations come as Mr Slipper faced further questions over his use of handwritten taxi documents to pay for three trips around Sydney in January and February. It is understood Mr Kaikaty, who has hired a criminal lawyer, was the driver on each trip.

If this government allows Slipper back into the Speakers chair, they have no hope at the next election but it seems that is the direction they will take if the fraud charges are cleared. Keep digging yourselves deeper. We are amused.

Federal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese also dismissed the odd circumstances: "The charge isn't whether Peter Slipper is unusual. The charge here is that Peter Slipper engaged in fraudulent conduct and handed over blank Cabcharges. What has shown in the documentation ... is that allegation is not correct."

Ho Ho Ho Ho....hmmm, he will! Bets anyone?

Gee the world's best Treasurer won't run for election...giggle and LOL... what a goose, so is Shorten! Dysfunctional lot of asses.....

I read somewhere yesterday that Wayne Swan is considering not sitting for the next election as he knows he won't get in. Talk is that Peter Beattie will though.
