For Like minded people who like to see-
Here is a message from Just Grounds owner, Rob Moore, and below that are the next steps...
Rob Moore 24th August 2011
The Convoy of no Confidence has been a remarkable success.
I was extremely proud to be part of the 2000 plus peaceful protest. It was an unprecedented military style logistical effort performed by 'Salt of the Earth" Australians and their many thousands of supporters along each of the 11 routes.
The commitment of the Convoy leaders and the heirarchy of the National Road Freighters Association was an inspiration. The strength of character to embark on this unknown venture showed the true courage of everyone's conviction despite the threat of failure and ridicule.
After our symbolic drive through the Parliamentry precinct we all gathered on the lawn for the official proceedings. There was a wide spectrum of speakers representing Large Industry, Small Business and Social Groups. While all political parties had an open invitation to speak, only various conservative coalition members responded. Our own Just Grounds members Senator Joyce and Williams gave memorable speeches as did Bronwen Bishop and Tony Abbott. Two outstanding young speakers were, Rashida Khan from the Northern Territory and Stuart Austin representing Australians Supporting Beef Farmers.
Due to a week of intense buildup and anticipation the Convoy had captured the imagination of the greater population. This was largely due to the wonderful support of the Talkback Radio across the country, which is the defacto peoples parliament. The leaders of this were the 2GB network - Alan Jones and Ray Hadley in Sydney, and Steve Price and Andrew Bolt in Melbourne. We sincerely thank them for their tremendous support. Alan Jones arrived from Sydney after doing his breakfast show of 3 hours and proceeded to MC for the next 5 hours without a break. I personally, will not hear a word against this man, as his commitment to results for our country is there for all to see.
The Convoy of No Confidence was labelled of no 'consequence' two hundred metres from where we were in the House of Representitives. This is an insult from a disgraceful government by a minister of no 'significance'.
It was resolved that we would not submit the 30 000 strong petition signitures on the day. Given the short timeframe and massive support all over the Australia along the way, we are going to continue gathering signatures with an aim of 1 million to be tabled by Senator Joyce in the parliament.
The community spirit that the Just Grounds members have shown was one of the bonds that made the Convoy a success. It eliminated the isolation and aided the organisers to communicate ideas into action right across Australia in a matter of weeks. Give yourselves a huge pat on the back.
We have led by example with the future template for groups to interact and mobilise with one hundred percent participation-all for no cost. This is the beginning of the electronic era for us to be able to STAND OUR GROUND.

Thanks, Rob, for adding your impressions and thoughts on "the road ahead".
What I am presenting below is my own opinion for the moment, as Cate, Rashida and the blokes from the NRFA are still on the road, making their way home.
As soon as I can get official comments from them, I will post on here.
For the moment, I'm going to try to tie together all the ideas that are being discussed in different places on Just Grounds, and then I'll ask that we PUT ALL COMMENTS relating to this topic in this discussion.
That way, things won't get lost.
Bear with me while I try to put all this together....
thanks,
Julene

OK.
Number 1. Over the next week, we continue to make contact with politicians.
This may include phone calls and visits to their offices, but the feedback we have is that emails CAN work too.
With emails, you can choose to focus on just your own MP, or politicians from a particular party; however, we are getting feedback that it may be more effective to email ALL Members and Senators.
The easiest way to do that is to use this email address in your "To" box.
mailto:mps@convoyofnoconfidence.com
Or, if you go to this link, you can send a pre-written email.
http://www.convoyofnoconfidence.com/convoy.html
However, since it is preferable to change the subject/content from time to time, the first link is probably a bit better.
The advantage of using either of these last two options is that the IT company which is assisting us can monitor how many emails are being sent, how many are being received and whether any are being blocked. And I can post updates.
Number 2. Over the next 6 weeks, we collect more signatures on the petition.
I will attach the petition for printing below.
** To all those who signed and sent the petition by email over the past few days, we would ask you to also print a page of the petition and physically sign it.***
Please also get extra signatures from family, friends, businesses and so on.
Here is the address for posting:
NRFA
PO Box 209
Deeragun QLD 4818
Number 3. Discuss other ideas, such as coordinated city-based protests.

Permalink Reply by STEVEN JANSEN on August 31, 2011 at 10:45am Don't bank on that though Steven , it's most likely true but - it's dangerous to presume. Anyone who possible can should head to Alabanese's office tomorrow. Unfortunately I am about 700 km away, so it's not possible - wish I could though. Cheers.

Permalink Reply by STEVEN JANSEN on August 31, 2011 at 10:49am Steven - I agree on that totally - but it need to be coordinated in advance - so that the press can do some covering again.
I said in Canberra because there is the attention if there are thousends or even tens of thousands.
I mentioned "buses" because they are unlikely to cause any major traffic problems.
But other capitals would be nice too.
Cheers

We're Perthites. Doesn't have much of a ring to it, I know. No-one in Perth would use the term. There is one advantage to the name Perthite - it starts with the letter "P". That's also the first letter of the word "PASSION". And that's what we're asking for: Calling all Perthites, show your PASSION and come to the NEW ELECTION NOW Rally in Perth on Sunday 18th September. Let's round everyone up and make it a huge success! I don't know when Australia has had a worse government - NEVER is the answer (I do know). Let's get this inept, arrogant, illegitimate mob out!

LOL, good answer, Stephen H (to differentiate you from Steven J). I am a Brisbaneite - starts with letter B for ..... well, let's not go there!

Permalink Reply by Roger Rankin Crook on August 31, 2011 at 12:23pm Well of course she is wrong and I would have thought someone would have pointed it out by now. The reason for the 'Mining Tax' is because the Government has to find an enormous amount of money to pay for the stimulus we didn't need for the recession we weren't having.
The stimulus is case you have forgotten was $45 billion. Current estimates are that the stimulus may have added 43,000 jobs. Give or take a few million that means that each job cost $1m. Double it and it's still $500k/per job.
That's the reason the Govt wants a mining tax. The miners know that. This sort of thing goes on all over the Developing World and the miners are used to it. They also know that they will not be encouraged to spend their money on growth and prosperity in this country if they are taxed 'after' they have spent the money and started production. They are not a bank for the government.
Denise Scanlan said:
This government is falling in a heap so the pressure we apply will add to that. Obviously Juliar never ees the harm in her own policies or ideas but the Opposition is always wrong.
JULIA Gillard will today warn that Tony Abbott's plans to block the mining tax would stop a boost to workers' retirement savings and put further manufacturing jobs at risk.

Gough, Jim, Junie, Simon Crean's old man and the rest would come pretty close.
I'll add this media release just received from CATA regarding the rally tomorrow:
CONVOY OF NO CONSEQUENCE MARCH AND RALLY
MARRICKVILLE - 1 SEPTEMBER 2011 AT 12 NOON
A march will begin at the corner of Marrickville and Livingstone Roads, Marrickville tomorrow at 12 noon to protest about Mr Albanese's derogatory comments concerning the Convoy of No Confidence in Canberra on 22nd August.
The protesters will march peacefully behind the "Democracy is Dead" coffin and meet in front of Mr Albanese's office at 334a Marrickville Road, Marrickville.
The purpose of the protest is to tell Mr Albanese that the comments he made in Parliament about the Convoy were offensive and unacceptable to those Australians who travelled thousands of kilometres to Canberra from every corner of Australia. They were also offensive to the thousands of Australians who supported the convoy with food and donations for fuel along the way.
The protest will deliver a message of no confidence in the Federal Government for its handling of the Carbon Tax, the NBN, the BER, the Malaysian deal and numerous other failed policies.
Truckies and farmers have been invited to attend, and two interstate convoy leaders are travelling to Sydney to speak.
Mr Albanese has agreed to address the protesters when they arrive at his office.
A copy of the protest flyer is attached for your information.

Permalink Reply by Anna 'Goanna' Hetherington-Grego on August 31, 2011 at 12:38pm I believe it was Rudd who went live to air and arrogantly stated "No one Dictates to me - no one" - that was about the Mining Tax which the mining frat did not want. Rudd was gone virtually over-night.
In stepped Julie and immediately did a deal with the Mining Magnates......
She just loves doing those deals..

Well good luck kids.
