Where I live we just had the wettest August since records began in 1886. I know this is true because I take the official readings for BoM and have copies of the official records since the town was established.
Hope you are correct Grant.....higher rainfall is good! Higher rainfall is one of the benefits of global warming cycles! Higher rainfall with warmer temperatures = higher agricultural yields. This is good news you bring, so thank you for posting this!!!! ;-)
only just read your initial topic opener, and my immediate responsive thought was el nino and la nina with such marked opposite between NY and Perth. These are oceanic weather cycles, are they not?.....nothing to do with long range climate cycles??????? Like when we have el nino here there is la nina in Sth America or somewhere else.....(and vice versa)??????
