For Like minded people who like to see-
Many of us wondered what was going on (actually what went off and why) when JG went off the air. Thank goodness it was an error whilst maintenance was being done.
It brings to the fore the thought that we are vulnerable to the loss of this beaut forum.
We nearly lost it when Steve decided that no one was contributing to it's cost and he had had enough.
To the rescue came Rob who has taken on quite a burden and is wearing the full cost alone.
I believe we should all be making a contribution to keep this site alive without depending exclusively on Rob ( although I should acknowledge his dedicated band of moderators) it is Rob who forks out his hard earned dollars each month to Ning.
What about the following?
1 We all make an obligation free small contribution to assist with the running costs
2 I suggest something like say $1 (less than a postage stamp/ fortnight) or $2 a month ( whilst I am something of a scrooge and I like value for money, I don't expect something for nothing ).
3. It can be achieved if Rob will open an account at his bank and merely quote the BSB and A/C no's on here so that we can do an Electronic Funds Transfer
Knowing how Rob went about ( somewhat apologetically) asking for assistance for Peter Spencer when he was hit with potential court action that would have prevented him persuing his Constitutional challenge I am sure Rob won't ask for help with this. It is therefore up to us.
Is there support from JGer's or are we happy getting something at someone else's expense?

I have offered to pay the full previous cost of the Property Rights Australia (about $600) site to Rob on more than one occasion and have been turned down. I think he thinks the administration might not be worth it.
You have a sympathetic listener here.

I agree 100% its time some of the load was removed from our true friend for the service he has supplied gratis for us all to use this Just Grounds Community Site Free & for Nothing. It's well past time our freeloading days came to an end. Moderators could continue to use the site without charge and a small fee (obligation free) could be paid by general user contributors to help with Ning charges. It would have to be Rob's final decision as it is his site and it is his passion to supply the service for us. Well at last the idea has been floated and we will see who supports it as the fee could be so low as to be insignificant for the convenience of using this great internet opening for our many and varied list of discussions.
You have another sympathetic user of the Just Grounds site here. Robert William Nickisson.

Whoa there good people!
Don pm'ed me about this and just last night I sent him this-
Hello Don,
Thanks for considering my welfare and these costs- most people take it for granted or don't even think at all. This latest hiccup would have given everyone cause for reflection. What really happened was ning was doing some major upgrading maintenence and buggered up quite a few sites.
The worst part was the message that came up saying the owner hadn't paid the rent! I was in Sydney and my wife got annoyed and rang the US and it came back then went off with the 404 message the next day. I have never asked for money to run the site as the way it is now -for $720 per year -I am in control. I know sometimes I am rude ( tired and cross after after rums!) but I like to think that I am pretty fair. The site is only as good as the quality of the members and while a lot of content is not vital to me - I like to give most a good go. The previous owner squeezed about 30K a year out of the site and it has grown a lot since then. He drove everyone mad whinging for money and I'm sure your right -I could probably do the same or better.
My feeling is that the reward is if and when we become the go to source for true researched stories that the lazy journalists don't produce -then we will have our moment in the sun. I need complete control as this MLA cattle levy story is going to be big and if we get the Class action up against Gillards "clean energy bills" that will be kicked off through here. The Convoy was a bit of a fire drill but was always going to be a big ask (overthrowing Govts that is).
I have spent a fair bit of money towards the Spencer thing and for members to contribute there is the same or better than worrying about me or the site costs. You are a great contributor and it is good having you as a member and you would never be sponging off me.
Regards,
Rob.
Have just come in and see that I didn't talk him out of his post. Thought it easiest for me to copy my reply to him. Once I accept a $ from anyone- our pure cause gets compromised oh so slightly and it is a small amount compared to the loss of income due to unfair business structures and the lack of corporate governence everywhere you look which costs me ten times this amount.
Look at Prof Bob Carter- a few mangy thousands of $ he earns to the $TRILLIONS wasted by the scammers........ If I get put out of business...you all might have to shout me a beer then lol.
Permalink Reply by Donald Woods on March 9, 2012 at 6:47pm OK Rob Thank you. But I still feel as I have expressed to you and above.
I like Joanne and RWN still feel we owe it to you.
If and when we meet it is my shout.
I sure as hell don't ever want to hear you've gone broke.
I'm on the same wave length as you when you comment as above about Bob Carter.
I have been a supporter of Peter Spencer all along and hope like hell he wins too. I feel a win will be a start to a change in direction to were we ought to be.
It is very gratifying to have someone like you with genuine Australian spirit
Cheers for now
Don
Another reason for keeping this simple is that I feel that we are leading the way for a future model to run Groups of any size that have members.
Nothing could be more democratic than to have a Group- lets call it "Agfarce"
Lets say it has 1800 real live members This group could purchase from ning a network like this and let every member have instant contact with the staff and elected officials to question and give advice to the issues of the day and there are ways to have secure votes on any motions. This would cost $720 per year and a staff of 2 for research and secratorial work.
We are in the computer age and are getting this wonderful NBN- let's make use of it. Even if of the 1800 members- only 80 ever bothered to contribute and vote- it is 100% authentic as a lobby position from this particular group.
Compare this to the current position-
1800 members -22 staff- multi million $ govt service delivery contracts- The sole spokes group for the whole of rural QLD even though most of us despise what they are agreeing to - done deals that we just read about after the event.
Cattle Council reckon that they can't survive on $1,500,000 a year- 3 full time staff- zero interaction with any real producers - just happy camping with the meat owners. Our volunteer group on here have achieved much more than them for no$ just our considerable time due to the lack of effort by those highly paid muppets!
We are onto something with this fraudulent MLA structure and it will ALL have been done through here by our loyal volunteers. If I was a bit smarter or more cunning - I could probably make out that I need a few hundred thousand for achieving such a monumental result but we are showing the way remember!!
Permalink Reply by Joanne Rea on March 10, 2012 at 9:13am Very well put Rob.
You are an idealist and to defeat the "moral cause corruption" is a hard without resorting to their low tactics.
I think that you and we on Just Grounds are doing well.
Permalink Reply by Ruth Bonnett on March 10, 2012 at 9:27am Thanks Rob. I must say that thanks to this site I found out about the bucket of misery tipped on primary producers by Green Labor preference deals, using votes from well intentioned city folk who would most likely be as cross as I was when I learned about how Australia met it Kyoto obligations.
Permalink Reply by Donald Woods on March 10, 2012 at 1:45pm I capitulate completely to a Man of Morals with the Courage of his Convictions.
