Real People - facing the forgotten issues with friendship and a little fun.
when all the pro agw devotees are rhapsodising how efficient quiet? and clean their expensive, subsidised and underwhelmingly productive turbines are..
refer them for a quick read!
apart from seriously below par mining practices, toxic dangers in the processing, water and air pollution, human health damage,in China. mongolia.
I was curious to see that draining peat bogs, risking serious issues to watertable wildlife methane and carbon generation from degraded ex bogs is perfectly fine with the Scots govt who are ramming them ahead.
funny how the environment can be disregarded when theres a hidden green? Money!! green agenda
I guess cos landholders- not the new green pirates would do ok with private and smaller Hydro units?

another fine example of green power.
Permalink Reply by Laurel V on February 12, 2011 at 9:28pm china owns spo,e 90+% of the worlds Rare earth Minerals in current production.
they bought out Americas only mine /equipment some years back, they bought the African mines also.
Canada Aus and sth america have some, not much, and few in production.
China recently nationalised 11 of the REEmines.
Just about every handhelkd device your flatsreen your car as well as solar and wind power uses REE.
chinas cut OS exports by 40+% to america and elsewhere.
they plan a worldwide monopoly if they can, and they can.
all the hybrid electric cars use lithium and other REE in MUCH higher amounts than normal electric motors ever did, IN the motor itself and in the storage cells.
all of which is also going to be a fair mongrel to reclaim on demise of said vehicles too. while they should be paying us for supplying a source of reclaimable REE you can bet they will do the usual its sooo hard to do story.. and billing us rather then rewarding us.
expect a sudden rise in charges if you scrap a car, they wont be wising people up until they have a lot of then sold is my bet. and then...theres the batteries themselves to handle.
GE is shutting its USA lightbulb plants soon, the same stupidity forcing people to use the crappy low light, highly toxic mercury CFLs, means that again China is getting all their business either from us/china partners, or subcontract manufacturing for foriegn sales.
either way China will claim subsidies for green tech/carbon scams, we cant see to read, and a broken bulb is, if you follow the recommended safety procedures a huge toxic hazard!
clear the room, collect glass and vacuum with Hepa filters, while wearing a mask, broken bulbs are not to be in HHrubbish but a specific Hazchem site.
so how are you to do that? with a shattered bulb?
supermarket bins for diposal place all customers and staff at risk if someone drops one in and it shatters, or a few shatter.
I have had One go dud, still power on- the fuse didnt fuse! and break properly and the ballast was well on the way to igniting, lucky I was home and passed through the room and smelt the burning.
they should NOT be used in sidewys fittings, they emit a lot of heat at the ballast point.
the so called better? pricey halogens also cannot be used withing a cover, too hot. if you do they burn out fast.
consider the increasing prices we will pay as china develops a worldwide monopoly of supply...and we all need light to see at night.
the LED lights are better but pricey and again use circuits and generate heat that requires special fittings, a damn sight more toxic matter for landfill.
I was checking them out in china wholesalers, what we pay here is a massive profit hike, over the per unit cost!
Label it green and gain lotsa green money for the label, regardless of use safety or real cost.
This toxic lake poisons Chinese farmers, their children and their land. It is what’s left behind after making the magnets for Britain’s [plus the rest of the world's] latest wind turbines, and is merely one of a multitude of environmental sins committed in the name of our new green Jerusalem.

Meanwhile the good people at http://www.hidroonline.com/technology.html tell me they will have good news about a delivery contract soon.
Permalink Reply by Laurel V on February 13, 2011 at 12:14am I see that mr Kwok has approvals from 3 mainland states and tassie too already, for renewable energy generation.
why I wonder??? hasnt the ultra green lobby assisted him?
oh yeah I forgot...they have their chosen subsidised inefficient agenda like wind and solar and refuse to consider REAL clean safe tech. they havent got a money spinner tie in this one have they.
its honest, damn, cant have that! we will let it go to OS interests who will then resell it to us at OUR Loss. as ever.
Permalink Reply by Laurel V on February 13, 2011 at 1:06pm I think what would be VERY informative is a list of the investments BY the green cluster...k groups.
like how the BBC put huge amounts of pensions into the wind schemes, so of course they need to keep the lie going so they profit.
Gates dribbles green and yet had 800k+? shares in BP, while simultaneously pushing a idiotic costly and materials using water vapour to block the sun scheme.
same money and effort could do better for planning adaptation/mitigation.
WWF and others get cash spin offs for so called green schemes funded BY govts when they did exactly nothing! to earn it.
I speak of the scheme to ban all animal dung fuel use in Tibet, what they replace it with? unstated, how? they find source and afford the unnamed approved fuel? also unstated.
its eu funded, but the green groups get a hefty payola frrom it.
another massive scam.
we're paying 5 mil to flannerys wetdream team, when we could invest a smaller 3.5 and get a Hidro system up and running in the qld area that had so much power wiped out. ONE just one working unit here would prove the concept and save us all billions in charges.
but then the govt wouldnt be gaining so much profit either would they?...
Well Jeff I actually had you in mind when I advised Kartina earlier this week that she and James Kwok were (by your definition) law breakers, whereupon she replied "I can only laugh now when I hear such nonsense and say it works, does it matter? ..............and laughing is what they will do. All the way to the bank I suspect.
Meanwhile you are correct about Hidro's need for rare earth magnets, however another group that I am involved with (www.raingrow.com) have some ground breaking research and results in the field of rapid soil remediation. Since this genre' of products (fulvic and humic) have had such astounding results in Chernobyl, we are already discussing the more recent phenomenon of the toxic lakes that were identified in my link above. Raingrow make the most efficacious versions of these two products in the world today btw.
Well Malcolm,
Whether you had me in mind or not when you "advised" Katrina your interpretation on what you believe my ideas are, is irrelevant. And if you are claiming that I class them as " law breakers" you are incorrect, and shows you are trying to create some sort of trouble scenario.
Correct minus the trouble scenario
The laws that the Kwok generator are breaking are the physical laws of Thermodynamics.
I see the patents where issued in 2007, and it is now 2011. Where is the WORKING prototype ? There is a lot of Hidro data on the net, a lot of information on how it is the ultimate energy source, but no photographs, no actual test data from a working prototype. Lots of explanatory diagrams and technical information but no empirical data.
Freely available to any/all genuine customers.
And now you are telling us that by using soil remediation methods that it will be possible to achieve "astounding " results on mineral milling and processing waste.
You are telling us that soil remediation techniques is fixing up radio active waste products and irradiated contaminated soils. What was the word - ah yes "Astounding".
No, this isn't Truthers, you have got plain old boring physics and chemistry to deal with once your out of fairyland. In the real world, these things don't go away.
Wrong Jeff, like it or not this IS the Truthers, however you will have to look beyond the blue pill world we are expected to live in, to retain your credibility.
Consequently I expected you to have done your own independent research before assigning this subject "fairyland"
Now you may, or may not have more time on your hands than me, but here is a hint to save you some valuable hours - Google: FULVIC HUMIC CHERNOBYL RECOVERY
Eventually your research will uncover this statement-
" It also cleanses the entire surface of the Earth of pollution, pesticides, and toxins of all kinds. Thousands of scientific studies exist to prove it. Russian scientists used it to clean up the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster, including the soil, animals, and people exposed to the radiation. According to Dr. William R. Jackson, fulvic acid annihilates radiation! Truly amazing stuff!"
Now please, do the right thing and contact Dr. Jackson and explain your version of his error and cc me on the ensuing (entertaining) correspondence.
Touche' from "fairyland"
Permalink Reply by Laurel V on February 13, 2011 at 9:13pm good point, so I looked at my current bill
from a Total bill of $230 (which to some may seem low?) my bill has jumped from 167 inc some winter heating included to this present amount and I have used LESS power.
$62 of it is service to property fees.
they have jumped from 58c a day to 65c.
now what really peeves me is I Paid for the cables poles and transformer on my land, I also paid for the idiotic undergrounding..why is that idiocy?
well because the post and above ground wires cross more of my land, than the ingrounded part, so if its supposed to be for safety, as they demand, its a pretty much NO Brainer to say that 150ft underground leading to the house in any way improves safety while the rest is open to the air.
it sure cost me to have the trench done though.
I also paid for the powerboard AND the electrician to wire the bloody thing to the house.
so consider what????? the hell AM I paying rent on?
my own purchases?
and the cost OF the UNIT of power should be factoring in the cost of line losses, and maintenance.
anything that offers breaking this unholy monopoly is worth looking into.
I am advised they are also planning to keep installing the smart grid meters, yet? it was canned ? as unworkable and too costly to continue with?
I am also told I have NO choice in the matter.
I do, they will face a padlocked gate.
Malcolm Fenton said:
Quite right Laurel. Also Katrina has proven that half of your power bill consists of "distribution costs" which do not occur in their business model as their generators are designed to be placed at local substations. Now I would imagine that once you dropped off these "distribution costs" you would make a lot of enemies in the big end of town.
Permalink Reply by Laurel V on February 13, 2011 at 9:27pm have you actually contacted mr Kwok and asked for a chat Jeff?
he has credentials in the industry, a working knowledge of running power supplies, and if? the ide was as unworkable as you think, then by now the folks that gave him the Copenhagen awards would have worked that out too.
yet its ok for us to fork out many millions in thermal sources> none of which are near the areas of supply?
that have it seems caused earth tremors and other issues when tried in germany not so long back?
that all mean large transmission losses?
by continuing to support the lousy performance of wind turbines.
and yes I would think the drive motors would use some REE, but I suspect a LOT less for the sum output in comparison to wind units. takes many wind turbines to even approach the stated outputs that Hidro is rated for.
on the gravity issue, he states its a matter of ballast. so if the gravity dropped weight is then able to be lifted by a buoyant material Not using energy to do so? then the return is a Plus as it also would be spinning the turbine on the way up.
then that issue is covered.

Well Laurel and Malcolm.
Now you've done your commercial for Mr Kwok and his Hidro generator system, lets come back to reality, that is now your not in the fairyland of Truthers, with it's conspiracies about Big Power and Big Energy, free energy (zero point energy, gravity power etc.etc. )
Let us get back to reality. Firstly a nice simple to understand science site that covers the first two laws of Thermodynamics.
[ Thermodynamics ]
Then if you look at Mr Kwok's Hidro system, it is basically a gravity driven concept.
Gravity has one big problem in it's use in this system - it only works in one way - DOWN.
To overcome this oneway force, it would require energy to move against the force of gravity. And a flywheel only stores energy
Example:- A hydroelectric water supply dam is a one way device, water flows out of the dam by gravity. It takes the sun's energy to raise the water level by rain, or alternately to convert solar energy to electricity to pump water back up to the dam. ie the dam is a storage device, a big "capacitor" that stores energy as water mass.
In Hidro the motion of the floats and buoyancy of those floats is to be converted into energy (mechanical to electrical).
With the Second Law of Thermodynamics, it states that in converting energy there is always a loss.
Once the mechanical energy is put into a conversion system (electrical generator - in Kwok's design it is either a linear generator or a rotary generator, in which there must be some form of strong magnetic field.
So back to the rare earth magnets that are polluting that part of Manchuria, without which the system's efficiency would reduced.
Because Mr Kwok has patents on this system, does not mean the concept works. There are numerous perpetual motion machines that have been patented, that also do not work.
