Real People - facing the forgotten issues with friendship and a little fun.
I thought I might resurrect this discussion once more in light of the deliberate leak of information to a person linked to the Aboriginal tent embassy protest group from the office of the Prime Minister on Australia Day, leading to the protest by Aboriginal activists.
The press should also see themselves as being used to achieve an end.

No one talks any more about the issues that prepare children to understand the reality they will face. Least of all any politician that I have watched or heard.
An empty shallow lot in Government with little life experience to act as custodians of the Nation or any sense of duty to do so. Just childish gamesmanship

Permalink Reply by Denise Scanlan on July 23, 2011 at 4:51pm It is their way of trying to silence the carbon tax critics by taking away attention from the whole bad idea. Julia is not doing well selling the tax so best to take away the attention.
Bob Brown now sees how much you are quoted, misquoted or criticised once you take on the role with the leader/PM. Happy to cruise along with media attention when he needed it but now the spotlight is on him and the greens policies, it has heated up and he does not like it. Poor Bobby. Boo Hoo.
Permalink Reply by Rae Billett on July 24, 2011 at 7:17pm The thing is Murdoch does not tell journos what to write (as if they would submit to being told what to write) as Bob Brown and Julia Gillard would like us believe.
Free speech is an issue here in this country right now. Murdoch's problems in England are a different thing entirely. What happens in Adelaide would be up to the editors one would imagine. I have the feeling they are putting this issue up to deflect from the real issue and that, as we all know, is the CO2 emissions trading tax.
If the present government had it's way journalists would have not be able to write anything negative about their present policies and their unbelieable stuff-ups. That is wrong. We would be getting only one side and that would consist of the ABC's left wing propaganda.
Nobody has to like the Murdoch Press or the Fairfax Press - you buy whatever paper suits you and read whatever journalists and stories you prefer. Personally I read all the journalists to get both sides of this CO2 emissions trading tax. I am glad I have that choice.
No country should have one sided 'discussions' as Julia likes to call them.

Permalink Reply by Rae Billett on September 15, 2011 at 8:07am Mr. Brown has once again got his way, Julia Gillard has now said an independent enquiry will be held into the "media". Why not just say into the Murdock press.
Good old Bob and Julia are certainly angry about the way The Australian and the Telegraph has been presenting BOTH sides the carbon dioxide tax and that is the problem they have, those medial outlets are reporting other opinions.
Diverse opinions are what democracy is about. We need free press to remain 'free'.
The government brought this situation on themselves because of bad policies, government waste - think the BER, and now they are crying foul. What were the press supposed to do, ignore the bleading obvious.
The strange thing is many of the journalists working for the Murdock Press actually think emission trading is a good thing for the country. Go figure.
Permalink Reply by Denise Scanlan on September 15, 2011 at 9:42am Rae, I agree. It is an act to appease dear Bobby who has had some bad press, well why wouldn't he?
He does nothing that is good except whinge. He seems like such a nasty man with a permanent chip on his shoulder but now he gets all this attention he wants to stop it. Poor man, can't take the ehat.
I've got a suggestion for him. GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN BOB. We don't want him.
I heard the other day that now people are cheesed off with Gillard, they are talking about voting green. Are they crazy?
I'm listening to a caller on John Laws talking about them right now. Opinion the same.

Permalink Reply by Denise Scanlan on September 15, 2011 at 10:02am Julia accuses Premier and Abbott of conspiring with news. So desperate isn't she?
PRIME Minister Julia Gillard has accused NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell and federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott of conspiring with News Limited to undermine the carbon tax.
The allegation follows revelations the director-general of the NSW Department of Transport, Les Wielinga, ordered changes to a brief on the impact of the carbon tax on public transport, removing advice that it would be "relatively small".
The Sydney Morning Herald says Mr Wielinga disputed, in handwritten notes, some of the analysis in the NSW Treasury report as subjective and asked for changes.
Ms Gillard seized on the Herald report to argue that Mr O'Farrell and Mr Abbott had conspired with News to rubbish the carbon tax.

This enquiry into the media is a nowhere plan...if they were serious about shutting down the media ‘so called’ bias they would have to include what they call ‘shock jocks’ meaning Alan Jones, Ray Hadley, John Laws and every other radio talk show host who allows the people to have a say. They are voicing their opinions – that’s bias?
I heard Tony Windsor mention the bias of talk back radio and so has that big mouth Oakeshott who has the happy knock of making himself look like an idiot every time he opens his mouth.
The fact is people have opinions about the government’s policies which are not good ones and in particular the carbon dioxide tax, therefore the government has made this situation themselves.
No wonder people are fed up with governments, they sign agreements we know nothing of and implement policies to adhere to these commitments and we HAVE NO SAY! Yet we are not supposed to have any opinion at all about these matters.
We can only keep voicing our opinions regardless because I hope we still have a democracy happening but.... I am starting to wonder what democracy in this country really is.

Being so full of themselves means they have tunnel vision.
