Ian  its a shame we hadn't known about  this earlier on. I would have enjoyed hearing Peter, and having the opportunity to meet him. Unfortunately there is a high volume of traffic on the site at the moment in another discussion, and your post got knocked off the front page fairly quickly.

Yeah sorry Tony - we didn't get our act together early enough to give a bit more notice.....

I agree Tony - we missed a great opportunity here to really add some pressure across the board on a myriad of issues. Darn it!!!

The thing is, the "parallel discussion" is exactly what Peter is passionate about as well - yet some people too wrapped up in self importance, and "their say" over looked this moment of ACTION not just cyberspace "chat"...damn that makes me mad!

Ian, is there any video footage of Peter's address?

Cheers Cate :)

Hi Cate - trying to find out IF video footage available

Cate/Tony - Peter Spencer is going to tidy-up and provide copy of his speech notes - I will post here  :-)

Thanks Ian. Look forward to that.

I saw some of Bob Katter`s speach on sky news and he was great.

To have People of Peter`s ilk on his launch shows just how he mixes with the right kind of people to form his principles on.

I hope Katter`s party does well at the election then we might have a chance of having the right kind of people in parliament and implement some of what Peter is fighting for.

Might even stir Abbott into having a bit of vision in his polices and not just " we can do that too " as he did at the last election.

Ian could you see if video of both these men are available.

I spoke to Alastair McRobert this morning - Peter and Alastair on their way back to Sydney....  Alastair not confident that video available, and he said Peter was going to tidy up his speech notes and send (as above).  I/we will make some further enquiry about video....

Hello there,

Back in Toowoomba after dropping Peter and Alastair at the airport.  Obviously after  showing my hand as a KAP supporter- I am relieved to say that it was a most impressive event.

This is a group of patriotic aussies from ALL walks of life with a common theme- standing up for our country. They are standing candidates in every state seat and I met many of them . All are very genuine and I feel that they have  an unpolished refreshing honesty and the voters will certainly have a credible alternative to the straight jacket corporate govt choices where Lobbyists make the laws.

Given the One Nation phenomena- I needed to see all this for myself. Carl Rackemann- mc'ed the dinner last night and is a truly decent bloke . James Blundell sang several songs and has a good campaign one ready. The guest speakers were great and  to  illustrate the variety- we had an Electrical Trades Union boss from Vic who  after seeing the La trobe valley shut down and the jobs exported under labor got the electoral commission to run a straight ballot of his members on cutting the  compulsory ALP funding stream that was expected of all unions . 70% voted no and they are suppoing the Australian party. We had the ceo of the Spa -food group who is incharge of 300 stores across Aust telling us that scourcing milk fresh is getting very precarious as the  $1 per litre Coles has sickened the local supply to the brink of failure. Coles who controls 78% of the dry food supply in Aust -Woolworths who own 75% of the liquor outlets.  So here was a man who- like the union man was standing up for his country - NOT his own WALLET Peter spoke last and gave a stirring  lesson on lost Property Rights and the urgency on putting this on the election agenda. Their were aboriginal people supportting at the dinner-a few of us farmers and livestock people. I met the new KAP candidate for Mackay late last night and he and his (only )wife have 10 children- bloody hell - he has qualified in my book!

I don't really know much about Bob prior to yesterday apart from the Jilted media slant that he always gets -but having observed him and heard him speak at length  and seeing the professionalism of his staff - I'm pretty sure that it will be write him off at your peril. The proof is always in the pudding and to see such a fine  well presented family is a credit to Bob and his wife  and anyone firing the "redneck" slur would need to be pretty sure of themselves.

So interesting time for Australias history coming up!

Thanks Rob. Good to hear a personal account of the KAP conference and some positive comments about their representatives, who appear to be in it for all the right reasons - country first etc. We have Bob Jarvis standing for KAP here and he used to have a garage and now owns a fish and chip shop. He does not describe himself as a politician, just a shop owner who wants to help businesses and his electorate.

Thanks Ian and Rob for the information. Be great to read Peter's notes as well. Interesting about the Katter party too...we will see i guess..

Cheers Cate :)

One person who was asked to make a speach to the Katter's Australian Party, Inaugural National Convention, held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Southbank, Brisbane - Saturday 11 February, 2012 was broadcaster Alan Jones.

Alan Jones couldn't make it so pre recorded a speach for the convention and it is available on youtube.
