There have been a few posts on here lately about Indicting certain Parliamentarians and other Public figures for Treason and Misprison of Treason. Here is a reply to a query on this matter from the Usher of the Black Rod of the Victorian Parliament
Section 23 of the Constitution Act 1975 (Victoria) requires every Member of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council to take an oath or affirmation. The wording of the oath and affirmation are contained in Schedule 2 of the Constitution and are as follows -
SECOND SCHEDULE Sch. 2: See note 1.
I swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty and Her Majesty's heirs and successors according to law.
I do solemnly and sincerely affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty and Her Majesty's heirs and successors according to law.
[If circumstances so require, His Majesty is to be substituted for Her Majesty.] |-----------------------------

I am awaiting a similar reply from the Usher of the Black Rod for the Commonwealth Parliament.
Yes, I've seen a few of those posts, and I've actually replied in an appropriate manner. Some of this rubbish emanates from U-Tube clips. I don't know that they serve any useful purpose at all. The downside is that gullible readers can be taken in by this garbage.
I have just received a reply from the Usher of the Black Rod for the Commonwealth Parliament, who confirmed that Commonwealth Parliamentarians swear/affirm exactly the same in the Commonwealth Parliament. So what we see Little Kevvie and Joolya do is something peculiar to being sworn in as Prime Minister.
The above is a very old cartoon, from memory about 1999. I keep cartoons that make me laugh.
We employed a contractor at the time by the name of Kevin. He complained to my wife one day, that I had shaken a shovel at him in anger.
Her reply was along the lines that he should be grateful.
I hope Mr, Mrs or Ms Horacek and the Australian don't mind.
It just seem appropriate at the moment.
PS. I now consider myself an expert having recovered an image and re-posted it here. My consultancy rates are modest in the extreme!
If you care to read my post in full you will see that that noble gentleman, the Usher of the black Rod, has stated that ALL politicians are sworn in using the oath/affirmation that is part of our Commonwealth Constitution. In the video all Joolya has done is to promise to be a good Prime Minister. Gough Whitlam, for all his other faults did not abrogate our Constitution, we are not a Corporation registered in New York, neither does the Brigalow Corporation own all the land in Queensland.
SADLY, I WILL NOT BECOME YOUR FRIEND ON AGMATES :-(
BTW, Joolya, together with a lot of other pollies are quite entitled to Affirm rather than Swear and I have spent over half my lifetime in the service of Queen and Country and have two long service medals from a grateful country, et tu Brutus?
