Thankyou for your condolences on the loss of Noel, as you are aware there are a lot of people out there who have known Noel for a long and short time who will feel his passing very strongly. He had a very big personality and a kind and loving heart, always willing to listen to another and make them feel important, a great conversationalist and fun to be around.
You just couldn't not like him.
Yes there will be a lot of people travelling to Noels funeral, but at this sad time it is his wife Jill, Allistair and Marc's wishes that must be considered due to their heartbreaking loss and everyone should be respectful of this.
The reason I posted on the Just Grounds community website was to inform people of the funeral arrangements which was in the Herald Sun and for Noel's friends who live in other states and the Just Grounds community who may not have been aware of the funeral arrangements.
Kind regards
Wendy
Hi Wendy, I am sorry for the loss of your brother in law, Noel. As Jill's sister, it must be very trying at this time in your heartfelt bereavement. I admire your fortitude for being so composed at this very sad time, and being able to post on Just Grounds community. Thank you.
I am surprised that the funeral is private at the cemetery, as there are so many from all over Australia, as you know, that are travelling to say their heartfelt farewells to Noel.
Unfortunately our family is unable to attend, from Qld, and we were certainly trying to re organise things to be there to farewell our mate Noel.
Maybe the immediate organizers (funeral home) are unaware that no where on the internet with Noels notices does it say that it is private at the cemetery. Many will travel a long, long way to pay their respects, and already are either arriving in Colac this evening, or tomorrow and will not know of these plans.
Kind regards
Cate

Quinn Funerals published the notice in the local Colac Herald 22/6/12 about the funeral arrangements, and it was my understanding this would be in the Herald Sun on this date as well. I should have checked before submitting this. Sorry to anyone that I have inconvenienced. I am sure all of Noel's friends will be at the service and Quinns will notify everyone as to the proceedings.

Oh Wendy, thank you so much for your response. I have been trying to get onto those few whom i do know who are in transit, for exactly the same reasons as you have expressed - of course that goes without saying, it is Jill's wishes of course - as the head of the family.
I am so sorry the extra pressure that you are undertaking at this dreadful time, one would have thought the funeral home would have taken all of this pressure off the family re notifications, dreadful business at this time, that you, and your family do not most certainly dont need. Such a shame that the notice did not convey the private cemetery side of things, just shocking bungle at this late stage.
How fortunate it is that you found Just Grounds in the nick of time to help get the message out there.
I will do my best to spread the decision that the family has made. Is there a possibilty that the funeral directors, or some other person is able to announce Jill's wishes - as head of the family, at the Wesley Place Colac - so that well meaning, and respectful people, do not unintentionally go to the cemetery?
At this late stage, i am affraid it may be impossible to contact everyone - and this may be an alternative - just a simple announcement.
Possibly there is a gathering at a local place after the Wesley Place memorial - and people whom are not family can go straight there?
I am aware of folk as far as the tip of West Australia travelling, and they will not be aware of these funeral arrangements- and it is impossible to contact them at this stage.
Here is the link to the notice that went in, as you can see they have ommitted the full details that you have so conveyed here.

To all of Noel's family,
Leanne and I were thinking of you all this afternoon. Wendy summed it up nicely-
He had a very big personality and a kind and loving heart, always willing to listen to another and make them feel important, a great conversationalist and fun to be around.
You just couldn't not like him.
RIP Noel from all of us on Just Grounds!

Permalink Reply by Barbara lee on June 26, 2012 at 9:54pm Hello Wendy, this photo came from the one up above this one, just thought you might like to know where it came from.
It was taken on the Hume highway on the convoy to Canberra. The trucks had stop and I had taken some photos of different signs and trucks, I wasn't going to let this convoy pass without taking some, and Noel happen to be standing along side talking to some men. I also was enjoying all the hand written signs as well as taking heaps of photos of them too. The one I thought was Noel in overalls looking like it wasn't him, Just thought I better tell you as I did have it up here, but took it back down. Wanted to tell you so you knew what had happen to the photo here.
Sorry about that

It was great to meet you on Monday at Noel's farewell. Nice to meet the person behind the face.
It's a great photo and I'm glad it was one you took, it was so the Noel we knew and loved. It was a great turnout on Monday and I'm sure Noel would have been very impressed. I'm sure he was there
in spirit and in everyone's heart and when that sun shone through the window and lit up his family nearing the end of the service, I know what everyone was thinking, that the ray of sunshine was Noel as that is the brightness he made you feel after being with him. Thanks to everyone for coming, it meant so much to the family. I'm sure Noel's face would have been beaming with that cheeky grin.
