New Horror Story - Alan Jones Programme 2GB 11 Feb 2010

Another horror story on Alan Jones' programme this a.m. The following are the basic facts as I was able to scribble them down.

Story of a farmer Warren Berry who bought back the family farm in 1999 (where he, his father and his grandfather had all lived). It's 4,000 acres but was in a bad state. He cleaned it up, put up fences and put in roads. In 2006 he was told to stop work, took it to the L & E Court in 2007 then he and the Central Western Catchment Management Authority worked together on a PPVP. Then Dept. of Environment and Climate Change gave the CMA the run-around so he couldn't get the PPVP.

A year later he got a vegetation plan which was totally unacceptable so he had meetings with the CMA and his solicitor and was told nobody could change the plan. Then they said to him "Sign this property vegetation plan or the Dept. of E & CC will lock up the property." Then the next day the Dept. officer was at his place threatening to charge him and take out an injunction to stop him doing any work on the property. He was half-way through constructing a roadway. They said the road was too wide because it could only be 6 metres wide and anything over that was illegal but he pointed out that most of the machinery was 8,9,10 and even 12 metres wide so how do you get a piece of machinery like that up a track and his response was it was not his (the officer's) problem.
So it has been two and a half years of waiting for the Dept. to charge him with alleged clearing. Now he has been hit with a remedial direction to lock up 250 hectares which means he can't touch it including holding yards, paddocks, etc. He has to remove all livestock and lock up the country for 15 years but he has to maintain it in the meantime and he has to report to the Dept. every four months. He can't do anything on the land that HE owns. He's spent money, lost production and had sleepless nights plus he has a wife and children who are also suffering.

Warren says that the really annoying factor is that he has been improving the environment on the farm - clearing up the rubbish and fixing the erosion and they don't care. They say if you don't have a PPVP to do the work you are in breach of the Act. You can't get one because they won't give it to you so you can't improve the farm. He said that it was the first time in his life that he felt so totally stuffed. He can't afford to fight the case and his biggest worry is that the banks will find out.

Alan asked about the name of the Dept. officer concerned but he wouldn't say. However, Alan has a name which is the signature on the documents in his possession.

The current situation Warren said is that he has a meeting with this person again on Friday to try and mediate some of these orders but he had already attempted one meeting last week. All he wants to do is get an environmental outcome on the situation but the Dept. only wants a paper outcome. He ended by saying that the really annoying thing is that all he wanted to do was to tidy it all up so that his children would have something passed on to them because his father and grandfather all lived on the farm and looked after it.

I know this is just another story as there are many others like this coming in every day but it is still unbelievable and something absolutely MUST be done to stop it. This is not the Australia that we all love so much - this is a foreign and unfriendly place reminiscent of some authoritarian country like North Korea and we simply cannot allow this to continue.

Alan was outraged at this story - which of course we've all heard before. At the end of the interview Alan told Warren that he would be doing something about this and undoubtedly we shall hear more about this in the coming days.

Julia,

Thanks for that. For anyone that is interested in this so called council idea. What Julia is suggesting is indeed happening all over Australia, and the world.
It is a soviet style system of government where the real power is hidden. Various regional councils are formed with different names (Hotham Catchment Council, Great Western Sustainability Group, etc etc. etc. etc). The function of these councils is not to get local input as stated, but to weed out people opposed to the soviet, and to destroy all property rights by making descisions about other peoples land.

It is a well funded and organized, incremental system designed to create a global soviet style UN dictatorship. It is called Agenda 21.

Wake up fellow AgMates.
Freedom loving people everywhere should take the time to watch this video. It is not professionally filmed and takes a while to get going but bear with it. Also, this film focuses on what is happening in America, but if you watch closely you will see the similarities in Australia, and you can than begin researching how this EVIL destructive plan is being implemented in Australia. Unfortunately, it is even worse in Australia already than it is in America. Everyone that supports Peter Spencer, and others like this farmer Alan Jones was talking about needs to realize that what Julia is advocating is what is causing this problem. It is defenitely not the solution.

Everyone needs to understand what is happening here, and what Julia is advocating. I don't mean this to be a personal attack on Julia, but an all out assault on what she is advocating. It is absolutely critical that we be crystal clear about what is at stake here.

A pure democracy is when 3 wolves and a sheep vote on dinner. We should be wary of such a system.

California also has this voter referenda clause, and if you talk to almost any Californian, you we soon find that, regardless of political persuasion, they can give an example of that state tying itself in knots due to some of these referenda. Specifically, Prop 13 established a freeze on property taxes. Your property value stays the same until you sell it. Then it is revalued. I have relatives living in San Rafael, and they cannot just make a decision to move to another house based on the normal questions. Their single largest question is, what will the change in our net income be if we move? For example, if they bought their existing house for $400,000 and they pay $10,000 per year in property tax that is 2.5% If the value of their property has gone to $1.5 million and they exchange their house for that equivalently priced house, their tax goes to $37,500. If they upgrade, the difference is even more. Just by moving to an equivalently priced home, they take a hit of $27,500 to their net take-home income.

A lot of times, things that sound good and reasonable to the average person are not good and reasonable. And should non-productive people outnumber productive people, under Julia's concept, this spells the end of your democracy. The majority simply decide to eat the sheep.

Yes, Janet, I'm aware of the fact that California has a version of CIR. Notice I said "version". This is because not every type of policy suits every country or state so it has to be modelled on local requirements and conditions. I must confess to not knowing a great deal about the Californian set-up and obviously you would know more than I. However, I believe that it basically covers the Recall provision and not much else, is that right? In other words, Big Arnie was voted in when the previous incumbent was voted out by the people under the Recall provisions. Is that correct? What else does the Californian model provide?

Hi Geoff,
Well, no system is ever perfect but I guess CIR comes pretty close. I'm going away soon so I really don't have time to do much more research but I'll put up something on CIR generally and see what happens. I never pretend to be any kind of expert on anything much but when with One Nation I did a helluva lot of work on a helluva lot of things. CIR was one of them.
I'll check that website next week.

How charming of you. I shall miss you too. But it's only for a very short time and while away I shall be keeping in touch with what's going on in Canberra, don't you worry about that! I find politics generally to be quite addictive - must get my fix, no matter what.
