During 2005/06 I worked on a mining project in the south Gobi desert in Mongolia and I returned to Mongolia in September 2011 to commence the development of another mine in the Gobi desert approximately 150 klms east from the first one. Have some pics from the first trip and this one to date to share if people would like to see/know some more about Mongolia. I will keep you all posted as it develops.

Beef, mutton, goat and horse meat as opposed to pork or chicken. They like to eat horse meat during the winter as they believe that it "warms" their bodies.

Graeme I wonder if you are able to shed light on this article about the Gold mining and extensive use of Toxins such as Mercury and Cyanide over there in illegal gold mining through Mongolia, especially the effect on Lake baikal which from memory is the largest body of fresh water in the world

Graham I was wondering what was happening in Mongolia and the camel roundup to benefit my holiday over there. I am still saving madly (one cent at a time) to make the journey. Please make sure that you have plenty of firewood and may I reserve a bottom bunk for sleeping under a top bunk that does not sqeak as I am easily disturbed.

I trust that this will not present other tent dwellers with a problem as I do not mind a mixed sleeping arrangement tent provided all persons wear clothing to bed.
