This discussion was motivated by a program that was prepared for television but never went to air about a planned terrorist attack on the Melbourne Cricket Ground during an AFL Final Game. Fortunately the AFP intervened to prevent the attack. The program stated that one of the two terrorists had received over $1,000,000 in Social Service Benefits during the years he was in Australia planning this attack.

I was updating my profile page and thought the 'LEAVE' Box meant leave page and not leave Just Grounds altogether. Lost everything to date on this discussion and apologise to all those who have contributed to the discussion. So I have rejoined and we will continue this discussion here. I have (earlier today when responses to this discussion were approximately at 350+) posed the question if we should look at fast-tracking the release of ? under-aged boat smugglers as proposed by the visiting Indonesian Leader?

I have marked Q and A on the TV Guide for tomorrow night Beverley However, I do not trust Tony Jones who interrupts the Opposition but rarely the Government representatives when they are answering the questions.

I have noticed that over the last month not one viewer's question has been asked and this suggests to me that some form of censorship is happening on Q and A. Also Tony is there as the moderator but asks more questions than the audience.

I am thinking of doing a count of these aspects and reporting back to the ABC.

ASYLUM seekers sent to Nauru under Australia's Pacific Solution Mark II would have a night curfew and be banned from paid employment - but they would be free to roam the island, send their children to schools and do voluntary work in the community.....

....Mr Keke voiced concern for people who could be held there indefinitely, saying Nauru wanted ''to make the process as good as it can be - given what it is''.

''I suspect there will be stress and harm done no matter where they are,'' he said, pointing to mental health concerns about detention in Australia too.....

....The Sunday Age has also learnt that asylum seekers stripped of the right to apply to bring family members to Australia under the humanitarian program - as recommended by the expert panel last week - would likely also face a financial impost on family reunions.

The panel, led by former defence chief Angus Houston, proposed that all refugees who have arrived by sea - other than children - should lose the right to apply for free for family reunion, citing concern at a 20-year backlog on applications in the humanitarian program....

Alexander Downer has some concerns about indefinite detention of asylum seekers:

JULIA Gillard has conceded asylum-seekers could be held on Nauru and Manus islands for years in a "tough policy" that has drawn criticism from the architect of the original Pacific Solution, Alexander Downer.

With the government vowing to keep asylum-seekers on Nauru for as long as it would have taken for them to be processed in comparable refugee camps elsewhere, Mr Downer declared yesterday that he was "uncomfortable" at the prospect of indefinite detention on Nauru.

"Why would they want to keep them there for years on end?" he asked. "We processed offshorebut there was no deliberate attempt to slow the process down.

"I can't see why it would take years on end.

"She (the Prime Minister) might find if it drags on it becomes a domestic political issue, or even an international one."

Mr Downer said despatching asylum-seekers to Nauru for years on end was "the equivalent of imprisoning them".....

In The Australian today the PM has been accused of changing her stance on asylum seekers processing off-shore was not a matter of her real beliefs but a survival tactical move:

JULIA Gillard is a woman of principle: the survival principle. And if the backflip on asylum-seekers is about saving lives, the life it is intended to save is her own.

Little wonder she dressed soberly for the occasion. English judges donned the black cap when passing a sentence of death; this was conservative Julia, in twinset and pearls, dispatching another promise to the high jump.

Was this the woman who said "no rational person" could believe Australia would be processing asylum claims on Nauru in 2013? No, that never happened. And if it did happen, it was mere "history" and she was "over it". No point in dwelling on the past; the time had come to "end the politics" and "solve the problem".

As for how to do so, it was not as if solving problems was what parliament, much less Gillard herself, had been elected to do. Nor was making basic choices of values, such as those involved in asylum policy, the very heart of politics, whatever that confused Greek, Aristotle, may have thought.

Good thing, then, that she had found three men (not in a boat) to crack in six weeks the mysteries that had eluded her for five years. And staring over the precipice of nothingness, she was about as likely to query her expert panel's proposals as Lady Macbeth was to knock back a good night's sleep. Especially as those proposals would finally excise the damned spot.

But will they? Yes, restoring aspects of the Pacific Solution could discourage potential arrivals, as the expert panel argues. But the panel's analysis is incomplete in important respects. In particular, perhaps because of its tight time constraints, the panel ignored the empirical analyses that have been undertaken of asylum policy (details are on my blog).

Those analyses, which examine the impact of changes in asylum policy on refugee inflows, show the Pacific Solution had a far greater effect on arrivals than experience elsewhere would have led one to expect. Statistically, the measures Howard adopted should have reduced arrivals by about one-third; their actual impact was probably twice that....

JULIA Gillard will seek to bed down plans for reopening asylum-seeker processing centres when she meets the leaders of Nauru and Papua New Guinea at the Pacific Islands Forum at Rarotonga in the Cook Islands next week.

This will be her first opportunity to meet Sprent Dabwido, who became President of Nauru in November and is Minister for Public Service, Police and Emergency Services, Home Affairs, and Climate Change.

Ms Gillard's discussion with PNG Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, recently re-elected with a massive parliamentary majority, will provide more of a challenge.

For reopening the base on Manus island is reopening questions that will test the effectiveness of Australia-PNG relations.

The cost, the management, the flow-through benefits to the people of Manus, and the extent to which this is part of a truly regional approach to the issue, are all likely to be on the table....

I have previously stated (I think on this Discussion Topic as well as elsewhere) that on Q and A over the past month there have been no question from viewers. This was the case again tonight, but there were two video questions.

There were twelve questions from the audience and forty-four questions from Tony Jones. His questions aimed at further probing, directing, delving, adding to and attempting to get another answer.

And they say that Q and A is a show where you (meaning us) ask the questions. This amounts to false advertising.

Really want to get into the mind of the People who are coming to this country in increasing numbers have a look at some of the Video clips on this site,Down the RH side there are a number of very explanatory Videos and translations that will show just how treacherous the Greens and the Left truly is.

In addition I have uploaded a PDF file used in the US Holy Land Foundation Trial as evidence,When reading this the first pages are in Arabic just keep scrolling down to where the Prosecution have interpreted and outlined what was written and than know beyond a shadow of a doubt we can never Trust certain people running our Country or any organisations within it.

For those who have not read the 'Elbarasse' cite above please read it because it is probably happening here in Australia. It was written in 1991 and is a strategic plan which, at that time, aimed at setting up a 'settlement Jihad' in the USA and Canada (see page 7 of 18) to eliminate and destroy the Western civilisation from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house...so that it is eliminated and (the Muslim) God's religion is made victorious over other religions. It also mentions the importance of their mosque as the centre of their endeavours.

I remember seeing on the week-end news the demonstration of Muslims in Lakemba (against the war in Serbia) where the mosque was full and there were over two thousand Muslims collected in the streets. Never have I see so many in one place at one time ever. Just how many Muslims are there currently in Australia. What is being taught in their mosques, schools and social groups? If it is anything like the strategic plan above then BE AFRAID AUSTRALIA... BE VERY AFRAID!!!!

Caroline Q&A is set up. It always has been. The set questions are from people who are put there for the show. It's never been, in the vernacular, 'fair dinkum'.

If you can watch the show and know the ABC left wing is dominant then you can watch it without getting too angry because the clapping audience is rarely an indication of what most people think.

If you watch it regularly you will see many of the same faces. I assume they are friends and relatives of those making the show.
