For Like minded people who like to see-
This discussion was motivated by a program that was prepared for television but never went to air about a planned terrorist attack on the Melbourne Cricket Ground during an AFL Final Game. Fortunately the AFP intervened to prevent the attack. The program stated that one of the two terrorists had received over $1,000,000 in Social Service Benefits during the years he was in Australia planning this attack.
I was updating my profile page and thought the 'LEAVE' Box meant leave page and not leave Just Grounds altogether. Lost everything to date on this discussion and apologise to all those who have contributed to the discussion. So I have rejoined and we will continue this discussion here. I have (earlier today when responses to this discussion were approximately at 350+) posed the question if we should look at fast-tracking the release of ? under-aged boat smugglers as proposed by the visiting Indonesian Leader?

Indonesia’s defence minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro says he expects a deal to be signed as early as next month which means Australian authorities no longer need permission to enter Indonesia’s Search and Rescue Zone.
The Gillard Government has agreed to this? Seems so:
Indonesia says it expects Defence Minister Stephen Smith and Immigration Minister Chris Bowen to visit the country this month, with a possible deal to be signed in September.
So let’s get this straight. We need boat people returned to Indonesia, not ferried by our navy to Australia. Yet the Government is agreeing to new arrangements to allow our navy to pick up boat people in Indonesian waters?
That’s right:
“There are many illegal migrants coming especially to Christmas Island and they are sending distress signals asking for assistance,” Mr Purnomo said.“So Australia’s asking us when their patrol boats can enter our waters, what are the rules that apply.
“So far they have doing that, but actually they’re doing it without rules protecting them....”
An asylum seeker boat north-west of Bali sent out a distress call, but once night fell local authorities could not cope and Australia was left waiting an invitation to respond.
“North-west” of Bali actually means off Java’s northern coast. Let me show you what this new deal is meant to help “solve”. That last call actually came from the spot I’ve indicated on the map below. This new deal allows Australia’s navy more freedom to pick up boat people from Indonesia’s north, relieving Indonesia’s navy of any responsibility to bring them back to Indonesia’s shores:

Guess what signal this sends to people smugglers?

Permalink Reply by Dr Caroline Wright on August 4, 2012 at 9:11am According to the Australian the proliferation of hawala dealers has presented a major law enforcement challenge for police in both Sydney and Melbourne as it is difficult for them to distinguish between money conveyed for legitimate purposes (family support) and money sent home to support people smuggling.
