Although I do not believe anyone 'chooses' to be homosexual, to change the Marriage Act will be a massive mistake. Same Sex marriage will start an avalanche of changes. Same Sex Marriage is also a part of the UN plan to make everyone the same its a progressive collective theory.

... Recently my wife and I were at Ararat in Victoria speaking to a Real Estate Agent regarding shop premises in town suitable for a Bookshop... Ararat, as most are aware, has one of Victoria's largest Gaol Compounds, but with a difference, as we soon found out to our shock. We could not understand why there were so many middle-aged and elderly bicycle riders on the streets, so we asked the question.. The Agent, reciting the "virtues" of the Gaol system, proceeded to tell us how the convicted criminals including murderers and criminally insane were allowed to roam the streets, on bicycles, because the " system" and the " medical profession" NO LONGER regarded their crimes as " crimes" but as ILLNESSES!!! In other words, a criminal abuse of free will, that takes at random the life of another, is no longer a matter of personal responsibility, but an ILLNESS??? in a similar fashion, abuses against nature itself, such as homosexuality/sodomy, pedophilia, murder, bestiality ( sex with animals) are now deemed to be, or will shortly be deemed to be, mere ILLNESSES or simply ISSUES OF BIRTH!!! What absurdity... What imbecility... To think that one may be BORN a murderer, or a pedophile, or a homosexual, or a bestial, contravenes all morality and sense and reason, and implies that we have NO free will at all, and are no better than animals or robots.. Next thing that they will be claiming is that we are BORN socialist, or communist, or tyrant, and that ALL is medically excusable or genetically inherited.. Absolute trollop indeed... What this sentimental sloppy unreasoning nonsense does is open a pandora's box of irrevocable immorality and criminality, and excuses things contrary to law and nature as NORMAL ILLNESS, or as matters of BIRTH INHERITANCE... Thoroughly ridiculous and beyond belief to think that this politically correct garbage can be tolerated amongst those who claim to be " enlightened".. Indeed, their " enlightenment" is a darkness and blindness of the worst sort imaginable... The bigotry and discriminatory prejudice of things that are so evidently matters of free will and personal responsibility and choice, defies reason and belief... Yet discernment is a faculty of reasoning humans which it is now, due to anti-discrimination laws, unlawful to exercise... In other words we are no longer allowed to be truly human, which entails the exercise of reason and discernment, so that we can " choose the good and discard the bad", but must bow down to the worst form of discrimination which places us on equal footing with mere animals and robots.. How blind can we be? Can we not see the end result of anti-discrimination laws and regulations, furthered and supported by the medical and legal professions, as they really are: the WORST form of DISCRIMINATION itself?? And the blind lead the blind into the gaping maw of the pit of destruction: taking their innocent children in train with them... All this for someone's ideology and wayward, bigoted, reactionary philosophy.......

Hi Ebony, I am not really in the business of defending anyone on a gereral blog. I do suggest that you wrote:-

"I prefer to stay away from this topic but could not resist adding a little philosophy as an enlightened thinker.

Voltaire, in his Treatise on Tolerance, pleaded for a 'universal tolerance' of all peoples and religions, on the grounds that 'we should regard all men as our brothers'.

Most of you here already know I am atheist, think marriage is overrated, and feel strongly supportive of homosexuals.

I detest gay bashers, and the linking of homosexuality to deviance or paedophilia.

I agree there are many sexual weirdos out there who prey on children, disgusting pornographic internet sites, and violent sex criminals.

People who engage in sexual acts to deprive the liberty of others, is abhorrent, and the perpetrators should be removed from society.

I know the personal horror of childhood sexual abuse.

I also know that gays and lesbians are just the same as everyone else, normal human beings deserving of equal respect and tolerance.

Instead of vilifying people who don't share the usual "normal" routines, such as marriage and heterosexual ideals - and I am not hoping or wanting any of you to 'practice what you don't preach', just stop with the thinking you are all "right", therefore they are all "wrong".

To borrow Rob Moore's thinking - "homosexuals must be deviant" this kind of intolerance will always need defending - if only to inform you that continually assuming people who are different - are no different at all.

I would much rather all violent criminals were taken out of society, permanently,,,,,,"

 

So Ebony I frankly consider your comments to seriously qualify as a rant. As a 'rant' insomuch as attempting to argue the value of marriage with one such as yourself is seriously counter productive. There is no purpose aruging for the preservation or anything if the person you are communiating with does not consider the point of the discussion to have any value. As you consider 'Marriage" has no value consider my view on homosexuality as one also of 'no value'. All that happens from people such as yourself is that people like Peter start to speak up to defend the defensible being Marriage. Any defense of homosexuality may indeed be the final straw that leads a highly sexed young male on a sexual course of action that he could well spend the rest of his life attempting to disgard.  What would Voltaire say about that?

A world view that defends the innocent, the unborn, the aged and feeble, those who hunger and thirst for truth and purity of life, is a world view worth having. A world view that protects the child, the youth, the adult from the encroaching, festering gangrene of unnatural vice is, I say, a world view worth having.. A world view that accepts the good always and shuns the bad, that does unto others as it would have others do unto itself, is a world view worth having.. A world view that honours and loves God our Creator and loves neighbour enough to warn and keep him or her from the precipice of eternal destruction, is a world view worth having.. We ARE the caring keepers of our brothers and sisters, despite the jealousy and murderous hearts of the children of Cain.. To tolerate evil on equal terms as good, is hypocrisy of the highest order.. To choose some morals and deny the rest, defies logic.. To tolerate and excuse immorality in order to hide our own personal guilt and shame, is utter dishonesty... Voltaire's " Universal Tolerance"; the " tolerance" of so-called " Enlightened Philosophy" is a farce beyond compare, for Voltaire's legacy spoke, and will in the near future sadly speak again, with the bloody blade of the Guillotine: Voltaires hypocritical " judge and jury"... I say the legacy of the " Enlightened" was purility itself, and lawlessness of the worst sort under the banner of " Tolerance".. Who was the judge and the jury of the French "Enlightenment", which is being replicated this very day, and shell be resuscitated in the very near future? It was death itself, and the victims were those who stood in the way of World Socialism as espoused by Plato and Pythagoras; those who stood in the way of vice and immorality which perennially pulled and tugged at the guilt-strings  of the hypocritical Philosopher and wiseling of this world; those who stood in the way of psychological and physical tyranny of the worst sort... Death itself was the judge and jury of Voltaire's " Enlightenment".. Voltaire's mob hated marriage, hated morality, hated the truth, and brought down the judge and jury on the necks of those who merely hinted of morality or purity or honesty or Faith...!!! The utter fools that Voltaire and his ilk were, under the pretended guise of " Reason" and " Wisdom", remains a blight to history whose legacy the blinded of this day perpetuate in the hope that they will succeed at shaking their fist against their maker, murder their brothers and sisters under the guise of " brotherhood, freedom and tolerance of evil", and overthrow Heaven itself... The purility of such foolishness will carry them stained, as it did with Voltaire's mob, beyond the grave itself... A world view that actually bows to, and " loves" the truth, and not merely hides behind a mask that mimicks and apes truth, shunning all error and deceit, is a world view not merely worth having, but worth dying for.. It is the criminality of Voltaire's " Universal Tolerance" which in the very near future shall shed the blood of untold millions, and it is the sentimental Philosophical slop of the proud, ignorant wiseling, who thinks themselves as something when they are actually nothing, which shall stand in the audience and glee and hurrah onward  the unquenchably thirsty Guillotine to do away with those " Intolerants" who would expose their own depravity and vice... What Voltaire and the " Enlightened Philosophers" of all Revolutions really sought, was to kill off their own ugly memories, crimes and guilts, and bring back the irretrievable innocence that they so jealously saw in their victims... The coming " Universal Tolerance", which can never restore its " Golden Age" and " Year Zero", will once again wreak vengeance on the pure and the innocent under the banner of " liberty, equality and fraternity", yet in all this callous, pretended tolerance and madness, still hope jealously that somehow that lost innocence which they see in the eyes of their victims, just as the disciples of Voltaire did, would, if only could, be somehow their own...

..Since you have raised up Scripture passages, please remember that Christ also said that not only does their own heart and conscience " CONDEMN THEM", but the Word of God condemns them as well... He gives " the world a chance; free of condemnation", but once the limit is reached.. no more chance.. Paul tells us that these vices are CONTRARY to NATURE, and bring upon us eternal CONDEMNATION, and that we shall know the workers of darkness by their fruits... Voltaire and all his Philosopher comrades died unrepentant, and most of them blasphemed with their dying breaths... Since you are keen on Scripture quotes, try the following " If you do not warn the wicked of the error of their ways, their blood shall be required at your hand".... We do not set up ourselves as judges, but we must discern, follow good, reject bad, and reprove falsehood and error, and " be our brother's/ sister's keeper"...

I believe if the Marriage Act is changed to include Same Sex Marriage, it will be an absolute disaster. I would never vote for it under any circumstance. But I do not judge anyone for the love they have for another human being. I do not believe that love to be 'wicked' nor would I set myself up as the judge, jury and executioner.

I do not understand homosexuality, that is because I am heterosexual, I repeat I do not believe your sexuality is a matter of choice, I for one do not remember at all, making a conscious choice to be heterosexual rather than homosexual. I do remember that when I became aware that there were those who were attracted to the same sex, I was glad I was not, as I could see that life was made extremely difficult for those that were.

The Anti Discrimination Act, is set to make us all the same, it should be abolished in its current form.

.... Self-denying " Love" and animal " Lust" are entirely different things...Paul tells us that the ONLY reason why men " work with men that which is unseemly" is because they follow the " fire of lust", and NOT love.. Same is true for women who abominate themselves in the same manner.. We can hold an innocent " love" for anyone, but that " Love" should not translate into imitation of animal " lust", excepting when it accords with created nature, namely, in marriage between a man and a woman... If one " does not know" if sexuality is a matter of choice or not, to claim that one " believes that it is not a matter of choice" is a conflict of logic; a bit of a " logical knot", and perhaps a little dishonesty as well... Political correctnes has made us ashamed of our own consciences, and puts great pressure on us to " toe the fashionable line" even when we know it is wrong and abominable... Whether we appeal to our own state of innocence in Conscience ( in which is ingrained the law of God,by the way, and as long as it is not hardened) OR Scripture, we have no excuse for " not knowing".. It is only when we REJECT such simple instruction, that our consciences harden and we listen more and more to the " doppleganger" of destruction that clings to the rebellious stiff neck... We really have no excuse, if we want to be honest about it....
