Following the next Federal Election with Tony Abbott as Prime Minister we should be in better hands and we should, hopefully, move forward together as a Nation.

The brutal reality is that no Liberal Party leader can hope to become prime minister without the support of the junior Coalition partner. This is where Abbott has it all over Turnbull. Since becoming leader, Abbott has wisely embraced his Coalition partner and appears to have a strong relationship with the likely next Nationals leader, Barnaby Joyce.

Joyce or Warren Truss will only need to invoke the memory of Black Jack McEwen to deliver the stable leadership vital for good governance. Following the drowning of Harold Holt, then-Country Party leader McEwen made it very clear that he could not serve under Billy McMahon. Goodnight, Billy!

Labor's internal dysfunction has served not only to drive a stake through the heart of the Rudd-Gillard government, but has revealed just how good a national leader John Howard was. Howard provided the leadership gravitas, maturity and credibility Labor can only dream of.

Abbott confirms commitment to paid parental leave levy

Updated    2 hours 3 minutes ago

Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has confirmed the Coalition's commitment to an enlarged paid parental leave scheme funded by a levy on big business, saying he is "deeply committed" to the policy.

Yesterday shadow assistant treasurer Matthias Cormann cast doubt on the scheme, telling a mining forum in Brisbane that the Coalition had not finalised its funding plan.

But, as the Coalition begins the roll-out of its policies ahead of the September 14 election, Mr Abbott has confirmed that the previous policy stands.

The Coalition scheme would be funded by 1.5 per cent levy on companies with taxable incomes of more than $5 million. That would be offset by a 1.5 per cent cut in the company tax rate....

I admit that I have concerns for employers and those wishing to start up new businesses in today's world. One has to factor in parental leave, superannuation, carbon taxes payments, increases in utilities due to carbon tax and wages out of slim profits. Yet the working public want higher and higher wages which puts up the price of goods until their is no profit margins left. So people are then out of work as businesses close down.

I would welcome a leader who immediately put a freeze on wages and any increase in prices until such time as a more suitable framework could be developed to replace what we currently have. I have no idea what this framework would look like but I cannot understand how every year the cost of living goes up so everyone gets an increase in wages to cover that rise and this goes on infinitum.

Am I the only one who can feels that such a system is illogical?

You are not the only one Dr Caroline

Don Dunstan when Premire of SA put a freeze on basic Food stuffs -- was criticised for it -- but it worked for what he was trying to achieve.

A New Business model (for my money plus a growing list of people) would look somewhat like the Economic Platform called FALGAFT.

Time and Time again they have been proved to be Right

This is what I expect of a good leader. Be honest with the Australian people as there are a lot of problems that need to be fixed and it will take time. When the budget comes out later this year there will be some creative accounting and some debt will be hidden. I would rather the pain imposed by a Liberal/National Party than the pain from those in power at present as they have an agenda I do not agree with.

Prepare for some pain, says Abbott

Date April 19, 2013 - 11:26AM

Opposition leader Tony Abbott has conceded that some of the actions of an incoming Coalition government would ''hurt'' people, but vowed that voters will have advance warning before the September 14 election.

''I have to warn you, in all candour, that an incoming Coalition government will do some things that are unpopular,'' Mr Abbott told a forum of undecided voters at Geelong on Thursday night.

''We will do some things that will hurt because when a country, a government, has been living beyond its means, you've got to take remedial action,'' he said.

''And you can't reduce expenditure, reduce the growth of expenditure, without looking at some of the existing expenditure measures. So, if we're going to do our job properly, we've got to get the budget under control and inevitably that is going to involve some tough things.''....

Hockey tells states to make GST case

Posted 5 hours 10 minutes ago | Updated 4 hours 54 minutes ago

Shadow treasurer Joe Hockey has told the states and territories that the onus is on them to make the case for changes to the goods and services tax (GST).

NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell this morning called for overhaul of the current tax system, which he says is failing.

The Coalition plans to hold a review of the tax system if it is elected, but Mr Hockey says it is not up to the federal government to drive GST change.

Now that is what I am talking about. At the moment everything the Labor Party is throwing at the LNP is being hit back out of bounds. So far they have not put a step wrong. Well done!

Ah! Ha! The woman behind the man behind the woman behind the man (you get the picture!):

Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey and wife Melissa Babbage are a true power couple

Sunrise host David Koch still remembers the day Joe Hockey rang to tell him his investment banker wife Melissa Babbage was selling "everything we own".

It was a year before the global financial crisis hit and the stock market was riding high.

"Joe rang, and he said: 'Melissa, she is selling everything'," recalls Koch.

"He said: 'I've convinced her to keep the house, but she reckons we're heading for the biggest global economic event since the Great Depression'.".....

It does not surprise me that it is true and that she was right. What a difference to the Tasmanian "Red Devil" Visitor we had here last week.

Stock Markets were the invention of the greedy Bankers to manipulate people out of their money.

Just think about this one Caroline when Woolworths first listed publically the shares were about $2.30 roughly since then they have hit close to ten times that initial valuation.

Does anyone actually consider that Woolworths has increased it's Profits Tenfold in that decade or so or that it has accumulated Ten times what assets it had a Decade ago.

Of course it hasn't therefore it like many other Companies is Grossly overvalued,Then we wonder why we have Stock Market Crashes when a dose of Reallity hits those playing on the World Stage with the Greatest Ponzi Scheme ever unleashed on Mankind and that is just the Stock Market playing by the Rules.

Factor in the Banksters like Hockeys Wife whom are all crooks with NO EXCEPTIONS for dodgy invented derivatives and Corrupt Councils and Investment advisors who could not really advise any thing  but avoid so called investments if they posessed a Skerrick of Honesty.

Well you wonder why People get fleeced,Not forgetting when Business went away from Family ownership and became Transnational it all snowballed into more and more deceit and skullduggery at the expense of the average person.

..... Business went away from Family ownership.... I must admit Stephen that I do miss the customer service one used to enjoy from family-owned and run businesses. More and more large corporations are squeezing out family businesses. But I am proud of Tasmania and how they have supported the local milk businesses (see Tassie As! discussion on Odds and ends.....) even though milk is cheaper in the major supermarkets. At Pyangana they supply the local IGA supermarkets with what is called and labelled "Real Milk" (plain black and white label) as it is pasteurised but NOT homogonized (? spelling).

Joe Hockey says =

Breakup the Tax Dept if LNP Elected

No Tax relief for Small Business until Budget under control.
