IS AUSTRALIA ADEQUATELY PROTECTED FROM FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC INVASION ?

The Chinese today have shown their military might for all the world to see. Australia has seen a reduction in Defense spending since the USA began placing troops in the top-end. The USA has made it known that they are displeased with Australia's reduction on Defense spending as they need our assistance in patrolling the seas north of us.

Furthermore, the Australian Navy and Air Force is heavily involved in the role prescribed by the Government with regard to illegal entry of refugees by boats from Indonesia which is further depleting our ability to police the waters surrounding Australia.

So I ask the question "Are we Protected"?

Kind regards

Caroline

It is 2.30 am, just what sort of response would you like from me at this hour? I'm awake due to my Labrador Jenny having an argument with a cat in the willow tree........ in case you were to ask

Let me explain...the both of you referred to my trip to the islands but Stephen was the one who really got me interested in this whole issue and has helped to maintain that interest. I hope my explanation has cleared this up for you.

Re the lady on the radio saying that she was the 'voice' are you sure that it was not moi?

I await the responses from the spaceman and the poet.

Bro' al,

I realise you are very impressed with the old MiG-15, especially with an experienced specialised pilot.

But you have to realise that despite the large numbers of them produced, the Ruskies also rushed the MiG-17 into production, as a desparate upgrade. - better airframe, different tailplane, some instruments.

If you want to be impressed, you should live on a headland, that was on the flight path from Williamstown (NSW), to Amberley in Qld.

Over the period - F-111's using terrain following radar at just above tree line along the stretch of beach south of Lighthouse Beach.

Later - FA-18's turning on after-burners, just out to sea.

This has now ceased, as there was some sort of changes to decrease noise legislated, but occasionally there will be a sonic boom from out to sea.

Poor Bob up at 2.30am and thinks to open his computer with an excuse not to wax the lyrical and come up with a response. Re the 'in case you were to ask' I would like to say that I am not a nosy Parker anymore as I have been assured by vous that your prostate is just fine!!

Jeff and Alan - from men's sheds to boy's toys - but I still enjoy reading your comments!!

Fond regards to the three of you

The high seas to our north are still a potential battle ground:

JAPAN is to send its envoy back to South Korea, more than a week after recalling him in an island dispute, but is still considering whether to hold an expected summit, the government says.

"We have not decided yet on it," Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba told reporters, asked if Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda was planning to hold talks with South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum next month.

Japan's prime minister would usually meet key regional players for face-to-face talks at the APEC meeting to be held in Vladivostok, eastern Russia, next month.....

.....The announcement came a day after South Korea rejected Japan's formal proposal that the two countries ask the International Court of Justice to settle the dispute.

Thank goodness for that because all the time I was prostrate(see, you spelt it wrong) I could not help thinking you probably thought I was beside myself. But that is not my favorite position, I might add. Yet thanks for your concern. Much appreciated. Today I have been in Repat for my 3 monthly carcinoma implant which has appeared some time ago as an intrusion into the lower Rt tibia. Not the implant, silly, the carcinoma. It is a 500 km round trip and a delight always when accompanied for the day by Kathy, 24, my youngest daughter. The waiting room at Radiology was packed with the glummest lot one could very hope to see in one place. As we entered the room with Kath on my arm she saw this lot and said to me, "Dad, don't you dare!" But too late, I introduced her as my girlfriend as we sat down between two old biddies as if it was  the most normal thing in the world.

Oh Bob I am sorry to hear about your carcinoma but pleased that you are having the treatment. Do you find (like I do) that being a member of Just grounds Community is an excellent therapy and helps to put your mind into a better place?

I am booked in for an urgent colonoscopy and endoscopy next week as there are some complications from the cancer bowel surgery. But as my husband is a little older than me so I could probably get away with introducing him as my father. Thanks for the good idea. He is Alan's age. That should stir Alan up a bit do you think? By the way, if you had a prostate problem you would not spend much time in the prostrate position at night!!

My fond regards to you Bob

Caroline

Thanks Alan. Now I know why Bob often says to me "Stay happy Caroline" as we do not know how long we have. So Bob you and I will continue as we have in the past having a good laugh and a kindly mutual little dig at each other. My husband is not a member of JGC but as we have the same e-mail address he can read what I have written and other people's responses and I will often hear laughter coming from the study. He believes it is all good therapy for me as well. Bob I am sure that Kathy is proud and happy to have you as a dad.

My fond regards to you both

Caroline

I forgot to mention that Kath and I have repeated this entrance ritual a few times and she has a great sense of humor. On  this occasion the two biddies appeared in shock at the girlfriend introduction. To add to the moment Kath got up about 5 minutes later and walked over to the water dispenser and wiggled her bum all the way there and back as if on the catwalk. The biddies didn't answer me when I asked if it was OK to sit here by them. I suppose they had been reading,"The Rakes Progress" over and over again by torchlight under the blankets

Love it Bob! Better than the old guy who confounded his friend's incredulity as to how he always had an attractive young lady on his arm by saying, "No, I don't lie to them by telling the dating ageny I'm much younger than I am, I tell them I'm 90, and very frail!!"

Cheers  bro' al. And best wishes to you and Caroline, re your procedures. al.

Bob !!!!! Just what were you doing watching your daughter's bottom as she went to the water cooler? Are you a 'bottoms' man like my husband?

I did surmise that you would have had several inserts because of the half-life factor of the radio-active material used.

Stay happy my man.

Fond regards

Caroline

One could not help but notice my daughter's bottom. Being alert to the situation after ,"Dad, don't you dare!" the whole room focused their attention on her bottom. The exaggerated flounce to the water dispenser is her being the very straight faced comedienne to the crowd, having been thus introduced. Imagine the look on the old biddies faces? She is one year away from a teaching degree and is a whizz with foreign languages. One of 4 chosen for 8 weeks University Exchange with Montpelier in France and leaves in October and 6 weeks last year in China at Kwailin as the guest of a company producing  hydrogen peroxide I was attached to one time as the Engineering chap started this off I suspect.

You sound like a very proud dad and rightly so Bob.

Where will this all end Denise? These people arrive with no identity papers or false passports and our security guys do the best they can to protect our country from allowing undesirables into our country and then WE have to pay them compensation. I can see why you posted it under this discussion topic as we are being invaded by foreign unauthorised persons who may or may not pose a risk to our safety in the future.

Asylum seekers making a lot of money by seeking compensation while in detention.

ABUSED asylum seekers are being paid an average of $160,000 in compensation, up 60 per cent for each individual in the past two years, Immigration Department figures show.

Adelaide law firm Tindall Gask Bentley has 40 pending cases that could lead to millions more being paid out.

In the week since Parliament passed laws to reopen offshore processing on Nauru and in Papua New Guinea, the firm has signed another four claimants.

Law firms in Sydney and Melbourne also have recorded a rise in cases, some of which are linked to time spent in Nauru.
