For Like minded people who like to see-
The Chinese today have shown their military might for all the world to see. Australia has seen a reduction in Defense spending since the USA began placing troops in the top-end. The USA has made it known that they are displeased with Australia's reduction on Defense spending as they need our assistance in patrolling the seas north of us.
Furthermore, the Australian Navy and Air Force is heavily involved in the role prescribed by the Government with regard to illegal entry of refugees by boats from Indonesia which is further depleting our ability to police the waters surrounding Australia.
So I ask the question "Are we Protected"?
Kind regards
Caroline

Back closer to home there are escalating tensions between China and the United States regarding a disputed island in the South China Seas. This dispute has its basis on both countries needs for the oil and gas deposits in the area according to The Australian.

Permalink Reply by Dr Caroline Wright on August 9, 2012 at 9:53am With regard to Australia and its defense capabilities it looks as though we will have a foot in both camps, that is, USA and China. That will take some serious thought and diplomacy to pull off and maintain.

Permalink Reply by Bob Stewart on August 9, 2012 at 10:06am Serious thought and diplomacy? Indeed. There will be room for mice to feed among the elephants so long as they don't look too long at themselves in the mirror and fail to notice an elephant lift its foot.

Permalink Reply by Dr Caroline Wright on August 10, 2012 at 11:45am On the WIN news this morning it was reported that the ten boats that have been involved in the 'taxi' service for illegal boat arrivals have developed cracks in their structures and will need to be withdrawn from service for maintenance work. This will affect our ability to protect our shores which is our right as Australians to expect of them.

Senator David Johnston says the Pilbara regiment between Geraldton and Darwin is limited in its Air Force and Navy support and more boats and submarines should be stationed in the region

War is a failure of diplomatic relations. It says they were incapable of coming to an agreement. If it esculates beyond that it is the diplomats who should be removed (shot) not the bulk of the society go to war and kill the other guy just like himself in the other country for whom he had no hate for at all in the first place.
War is a problem in leadership not in the population. No person can go to war without being stirred up into it by a crazy leader. If some crazy leader tried to start a war and nobody turned up it couldn't happen. But then you would have to have a population that were sane enough to see that and follow through on it. And on both sides of course. So the solution to war is to have the whole population on the planet sane enough to not support war. Only when we can trust each other will there not be wars. Don't hold your breath.
Honest Government, Fair Rights to property and compensation, Australia and our people strong and proud, reinstatement of values and respect
