For Like minded people who like to see-
The Chinese today have shown their military might for all the world to see. Australia has seen a reduction in Defense spending since the USA began placing troops in the top-end. The USA has made it known that they are displeased with Australia's reduction on Defense spending as they need our assistance in patrolling the seas north of us.
Furthermore, the Australian Navy and Air Force is heavily involved in the role prescribed by the Government with regard to illegal entry of refugees by boats from Indonesia which is further depleting our ability to police the waters surrounding Australia.
So I ask the question "Are we Protected"?
Kind regards
Caroline

Lobbying the Government via petition or email or phone call or letter is useless by itself. The only thing that Politicians understand is the weight of numbers that are prepared to vote against them at the next election. This too is but a bandaid measure -- but it is effective.
What is needed is an Education Program of the people in such numbers that cannot be ignored by anyone. However, this move too requires a structured Plan. The main goal -- IMHO -- is to remind the Government that they are "Public Servants" -- NOT the Ruling Class of a Nation. This MUST be the first position of any action that has a chance of effecting reform at any level.
Permalink Reply by vivienne skeen on September 23, 2012 at 8:03pm I agree, the politicians are employed by us the Sovereign People of Australia, problem is the people themselves don't seem to know that. Most people on this site know that and know whats wrong. The treaties from the UN need to go.
The whole political structure has been trashed by the parliamentarians, right under the nose of the People. More and more people are waking up but will it be soon enough?

Permalink Reply by Rae Billett on September 24, 2012 at 8:37am Caroline that's as far as refugees or asylum seekers are concerned. The UN do not dictate our immigration policy, this country decides who we take and from where. People apply from all over the world and are accepted usually on the basis of being able to add to the economy and good of the country no matter where they come from. The majority of those usually can't wait to be Australians, they comply with the edicts set down to become an Australian citizen, which are lengthy, their financial and health situation are taken into consideration. They want their children and grandchildren to be Australians, that's why they immigrate and the UN has nothing to do with it.
That is why both my grandparents and father immigrated.....they just happened to be European, you know English.

Geoff I am with you 100%. Our culture is Australian! first, foremost and last. We are made up of many different races. I do hope that we do not go down the path that the USA has done where people are Asian/American, African/American, etc. etc, etc. I see this as divisive as it singles out groups and thus separates them. In doing so there is no integration into the culture of the land they have ?adopted.
Rae .. In relation to the UN role re who Australia accepts it is my understanding that the selection process is overseen by the UN. Also it is my understanding that the UN itself is involved in the determination of whether or not a person is a genuine refugee or not. It is my opinion that that is indeed what is happening in Indonesia at present. But I could be wrong here. If so I am sure that someone will enlighten me.

Permalink Reply by Rae Billett on September 24, 2012 at 8:50am I am not trying to denigrate our culture and I know many people don't like multiculturalism - struth there are parts of Sydney that look like downtown Hong Kong. But those people are generally lovely, honest, friendly people.
I can't dislike people because they look different. I wouldn't care if a two headed black Nigerian lived next door if he was a good bloke. The same as I wouldn't be worried if there was a Muslim family next door, if they were good people why not?
These people will not change my culture or the culture of this country, but in the fullness of time, this country will change theirs, it has done so for many already. Their children will be part of OUR culture.
Those people who rioted in Sydney are not indicative of the whole Muslim community. Common sense tells you that.
Those men and women are a disgrace but I will not become a Muslim hater because of the actions of those ****holes - that would make me as bad as them.

Now here is Gillard blindly prostituting the Nation and herself to the morally corrupt incestuous UN having spent $40 million thinking that would be a "despotit" sorry, deposit to buy a seat on the UN Security Council. But, better wait until worthy of being invited. I suggest liars will not be welcome
For the Chinese , and in particular the big member of the UN Security Council, they have a philosophy of 4000 years that,"Anyone so eager to acquire a position of power and influence, should never be trusted with it. For, as history has recorded, it is in conflict with the needs and aspirations of the people"
Treason is still a very dirty word

Australia's former top commander in Afghanistan has described the war effort there as an "experiment" that will not end well.
Retired Major General John Cantwell has also criticised how politicians are portraying Australia's role and success in Afghanistan, describing the comments as "misleading"......
......"Afghanistan is a deeply divided country in so many ways, it's riven by tribal enmities and hatreds, it's divided geographically, it's divided by economy, it's divided by politics, it is a mess and it's a mess which will be in the same terrible condition for decades to come.....

A senior commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards has warned Tehran could launch a pre-emptive strike on Israel if it was convinced it was about to be attacked.
Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh says Iran will not start a war, but he reportedly told Iran's state-run Arabic language TV channel that it would launch a pre-emptive strike if it was convinced its enemies were putting the "final touches" on an attack....
.....He said a conflict would have unpredictable consequences and could turn into World War III.
His comments come as a senior Iranian lawmaker accused the UN nuclear watchdog of passing confidential details of Iran's atomic work to Israel.....

TWO Chinese ships have entered waters around Japan-administered islands in the East China Sea, the Japanese coastguard said, as tensions mount over the disputed chain.
As of 7.00am, two Chinese maritime surveillance ships were spotted in waters off Kubashima and Uotsurijima, it said, adding that four patrol ships were in "contiguous" waters just outside the territory.
Asia's two largest economies have wrangled about the Japan-administered islands, called Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China, since the 1970s, but the row flared in August after pro-China activists landed on one of them.......

General criticises Australia's Afghan war 'experiment'

Permalink Reply by Bob Stewart on September 24, 2012 at 3:10pm Rae, Are we not strong enough to handle the obligations imposed on those treaties? We keep pouring money into the UN yet we do not need a nursemaid. We are more than capable to exercise our obligation without the incestuous UN telling us what they want us to do. In any event our funding should only be for our own people on the ground. I would not trust the UN for one minute having been witness to a shameful abuse of their mandate. If I recall, the UN has gone the same way as the Generva Convention.

Rae Billett said:Geoff do you really believe that: What I must say is that I am against "multiculturalism" which has been introduced as one of many measures to break down the fabric of society.
Perhaps we should be calling it a multi-racial society? Whatever. I believe we have it more because we need people to populate the country and grow, but governments make bad policies.
Geoff I believe this; if two generations of young Australians were not taken to defend mother England in two wars, we would not be having many of the problems we are having today. They robbed Australia of a natural population growth. The country was not big enough to lose that many young men in such a comparatively small number of years but we did and it left a great bloody hole in the population. It was okay for other countries with larger populations in Europe and the America their populations of young men were far larger and were able to recover more quickly.
Anyway whatever multi we call it, we have it, and it won't be changed any time soon, we just don't have the population growth. I would like to see any government prepared to be more choosy about what multis we are prepared to take and nurture.
It is a bit pointless having a whole lot of people not able to contribute to the growth of the country and becoming a burden on welfare as the figures have shown with some of the middle eastern immigrants or asylum seekers. But that is another those things governments seem unable or incapable of tackling. They should have to become skilled and able to speak reasonable English if they are young and able bodied.
According to Gillard they are always ready to 'tackle something or other' but this is definitely not one of them.
Geoff I like diversification, I like meeting lovely Asian people, Europeans, Mediterraneans and dare I say even Americans who sort of speak our language....there's a plus.
Honest Government, Fair Rights to property and compensation, Australia and our people strong and proud, reinstatement of values and respect
