How weak have Australians & their supposed leaders become?
Our people worked hard to build this fine country. Our men & woman went to war to fight for what some of us enjoyed as children. They were the best on the planet. Our farmers worked long & hard to become the best in the world; our workers were the best; our thinkers & our politicians were outstanding examples of leaders.
My grandfather’s generation worked hard & built quality Australian-made products. They took in people in need, shared whatever they had; they taught compassion, integrity, honesty & commanded “a fair go” as our most memorable Australian adage.
Jack Lang, an Australian politician, told England to ‘get stuffed’ when they asked for money we had borrowed from them to support them in war. He took it out of the banks in fear the bankers would get their hands on it, & enlisted the new guard to protect it so he could ensure money for the unemployed as he had promised.
King O’Malley, again Labor, structured the Commonwealth bank, which pulled us out of a depression. We were forging ahead as a nation, a Sovereign nation.
Well something went bloody wrong!
The people lost their guts, as did the politicians. Everything went up for sale. We stopped being the best producers, the farms are now for sale; the corporate sector ride roughshod over any who do the right thing; politicians bow to those who fund them, to the UN & the World Bank, like a pack of cowards.
We, the people, do the same. Dare we speak up, or join in a rally, or fight for what is right, ohhhhhh what if we get in trouble, what if we lose a day’s wages, or get a paper cut.
I am amazed Australians don’t carry lubricant to make being screwed by selfish self-serving bastards, easier to take. Most sit back & watch their children’s future being taken from them; our freedoms, our democracy & our nation’s resources being stolen, & do not a bloody thing.
They make comment & jokes like it doesn’t matter, about being lied to by the honourable, taxed on the air they breathe, being forced to watch their basic commodities become ways to bankrupt the nation by greedy offshore criminals, & they let it happen.
Australia, if you have bloody forgotten, is a sovereign nation; a democracy where the people rule. Well, what a p*ss weak job we are doing. Have we forgotten the Aussie mateship, the sacrifices & hard work of our forefathers with such disdain?
I have fought for many years for a fair go, but who am I fighting for now? If the people are so weak as to let their future be sold for a pittance, their children’s futures to be destroyed, their land to be sold, their wealth to be taken right in front of their noses, because they care only for the next day, instead of their country’s future.
The Eureka Stockade was the birthplace of democracy, yet all their sacrifice was in vain, as we let self-interest take away our democracy. Dare we even now fly the flag of the Stockade without the casting of assertions?
The day our freedoms, our democracy & our future in general became negotiable, let alone justice, is the day this once fine country lost its way, & it will take sacrifice & hard work to get it back on track. So, either stand in the shadow of great people, or lay down in submission to thieves & criminals, all the time remembering inaction empowers the present path.

We need more people with a "fire in the belly" like Mark
Permalink Reply by Alyn Roule on September 28, 2012 at 11:27am Alan's question is valid, however, I would suggest pushing it further a little, such as -;
"But what is he offering --- that can be of significant value to alter the current state of affairs for the better. ??"
Alan
I didnt read it as "criticism" and most of what he says is a fact of history. I just felt that he had a "fire in his belly" about how he sees the "state of the nation" (and in my opinion if a few more people had the same feeling instead of the "she'll be right mate one" then things around the country might change for the better)
Alan/Alyn
What is he "offerring"???.....was he meant to be "offerring" anything other than an opinion on how he sees it?
What is Labor doing?....what is the LNP (the supposed Opposition) offerring?...what are the Greens offerring?....what is any political party or current politician offerring in this day and age? Ask me and my answer is...Nothing!!!
I had a couple of talks last year with Mark around Convoy time. Like Nicholas and many others that are motivated ( Michael Smith)- the system has done them over and spat them out.
Alan M - it is this glib almost smug attitude that GUARANTEES that no fightback ever gets off the ground or out of the control of the puppet masters. All it takes is a few good men and women and I consider this a game of our intellect versus their "low cunning". A very unfair game but what the hell - someone has to have a go!!!

Permalink Reply by Alyn Roule on September 28, 2012 at 6:40pm This is a Good observation of the attitude of the generations X and Y. Me-ism and I don't care is the catch cry of late mainly because the current generation has concluded that the phrase -; "Entitlement with-out Integrity" is todays Right of Passage.

Australians have been raised on the 'she'll be right mate' attitude and much to my disgust at times, proud of it. I have never been a group thinker and have put myself out there on many occasions to make a point. We always wait for someone else to take action. Over the years I have made complaints about faulty goods, bad service especially if rude, stood up at work to complain about certain issues that others were too weak to speak up about. Whilst they support away from the spotlight, once the spotlight is on, watch them turn to jelly.
Its these actions people who often work in community groups to get things done, which I have, and do not ask for recognition. The problem is that too many of them decide to become a politician. Then there is silence. Few make any difference once elected.
Only recently I complained to authorities about an action I disagreed with and because I didn't settle for the riff raff who took messages, I actually spoke to head of the department and he acted on his promise in two days. Unfortunately these days I am very limited with what I can do, but Marks letter is good. We have become a country full of wimps. Our early settlers came here and had to fight for what they wanted, many died, so I wonder what they would think of how weak and lilly-livered we have become.
What are we afraid of? Why aren't all the government changes that are selling us overseas, even our land, making us stand up and fight? Fighting doesn't have to be fisti-cuffs, but letting the authorities know how unhappy we are. When I have approached others, I have had some replies that have floored me. The worst being 'why should I care, it doesn't affect me' when I mentioned the convoy to them. I find I cannot even talk to such people any more. They spend their lives gossiping but do nothing in the community.
I cannot abide sefishness, nor self-centred, egotistical people. However Australia is becoming a country where "me, me, me" is the catch cry.
Alan- just stirring you a bit but I disagree with the jingoistic label . I found myself agreeing wholehearteded and doubt that the author was writing insincerely as if one of Gillards 1600 spin doctor types that we taxpayers fund.
Her main new grub- this John McTernan is the bottom of the barrel!
Very good point Alyn and very good post Denise

Permalink Reply by Nicholas N Chin on September 29, 2012 at 3:30pm Our leaders are cozy because they belong to the two big parties. That is why we need to vote for more Independent Leaders who can safeguard the interests of the common people Let;s walk the talk. Traditionally lawyers are the one who are voted into power. They are trained to be glib and suave but they only line their own pockets. Let the lawyers they are trying to kick out do the job because these are the ones who are trying to be honest and do not tolerate dishonesty and foul play.
Permalink Reply by Stephen Cox on September 29, 2012 at 10:40pm Party politics is the problem in a nutshell as they all so often vote on party lines,It is rare and called a conscience vote only occasionally on some issues.
That said a conscience vote in Tasmania derailed the gay marriage proposal down there,Truth is that is just another form of attack on the Australia of old,Yes some things needed to change but many changes made need to be undone,Especially many Illegal ones perpetrated by Paul Keating on a Constitutional Level.
I firmly believe that any law passed after such criminal action by an elected Government should be Null and Void as it follows Illegal Action and therefore is compromised in a Legal sense.
Americans despite many around the World who despise them value their rights under a constitution originally set up to keep Government small and out of peoples lives.
Any whom support the UN or a push for a republican model are extremely suspect and under the terms of our Constitution support for a Foreign Government or Entity is or was written into the Constitution as regarded as Treasonable activity,That is punsihable depending on the circumstances by either imprisonment or execution during wartime.
Problem is a Nicholas has found is that the Judiciary are in many cases guilty of aiding and abetting overseas interests such as the UN or any number of foreign governments.
Bob Carrs stand of working against Australia to support Action against Australia by a Tinpopt Pacific state looking to use this so called Man made Climate Change to bring a damages claim against Australia,Should mean instant dismissal from Government and Action taken for Treason end of Story.
This is where the Gutless mainstream Journalists are guilty,Why is that story not constant headlines,Why are the Coalition not making waves about that one,That bwill certainly expose the corruption endemic in the Al Gore Theft fest running rampant via his UN cronies.
Honest Government, Fair Rights to property and compensation, Australia and our people strong and proud, reinstatement of values and respect
