Hemp seed oil is a clean burning fuel extracted from one of the fastest growing plants in nature. It makes a high grade diesel fuel oil. It is also the only biomass capable of replacing fossil fuels.

I read a book many years ago called 'The Emperor Wears No Clothes' by Jack Herer. Until the 1930's Hemp was the number one cash crop in America. Unfortunately it was labour intensive and costly but that all changed after a german guy invented the Decorticator. Normally the fibre had to be extracted by hand after soaking in water for a couple of days. The new machine changed everything. The future looked really bright for the industry. Hemp paper would have been ten times cheaper than timber pulp so a lot of tree's would have been saved.

The timber mill owners back then were the equivalent of todays oil barons. They didn't look kindly on an industry which looked set to bankrupt them. They sold paper to all the newspaper businesses and had great influence over the government. They hired an FBI agent named Anslinger to spearhead a campaign aimed at destroying the Hemp industry. The word 'Marijuana' was unheard of in mainland America at this time and originated in a small town in mexico. Anslinger adopted this name for his propaganda campaign. So that nobody would realise what the papers were referring to when false stories were printed about it. Crazy fabrications like teenagers becoming axe murderers. All have all since been proven untrue.

The marijuana tax act was introduced in 1937. The same year that the Decorticator was invented. Hemp is actually unsmokable but because it is a strain of cannabis the farming community was forced to stop growing it by heavy fines. Until WW2 when farmers were paid to grow it for the war effort. Until the war was over and then they were fined again.

The history of the cannabis prohibition is one long farce and the biggest true conspiracy I know of.

I have also read this book and can add that the hemp seed is extremely high in protein. The billion dollar crop is also a good doco in relation to this subject.  Unfortunatly people still dont understand that hemp for food and fiber production can not be used as a narcotic all it would do is give you a nasty headache.

I must add though that I personally do not condone illicit drug use and unfortunatly these two subjects seem to be intertwined.

Illicit drug use should be seen as a medical problem rather than a legal problem. What has been achieved in the US sponsored "war on drugs''? Spent billions and its getting worse. Perhaps its time to find a new approach.
I thought the idea was to use the oil for food and body amenities and fodder the fibres for clothing etc and then the ultimate trash burns very hot for feedstock for boilers.

Hemp seed oil contains essential fatty acids and has a high nutritional mix.

Hemp seed nutrition

Back in the middle ages during times of famine the starving masses made a bread out of it known as 'poor mans bread'.

Hemp seed used to be in bird mix. Song birds would pick out the hemp seeds first and if it was removed from their feed they actually stopped singing.

Hemp is the most useful plant known to man and was probably one of the first to be domesticated. It was listed in the pharmacopeia britannica as one of the most useful plants known to medical science until it was banned by the americans. Its uses range from paper, textiles, rope, clothing, furniture, building materials and paint to car parts and fuel.

"In 1941, Henry Ford held a media event where he swung an axe at a prototype car body made of hemp and other plant material to prove its strength."

Until the marijuana tax act was introduced hemp was the largest cash crop in the united states.

The fibre is used to make clothing which is 3 times stronger than cotton and far more UV resistant. A practical consideration for clothing manufacturers in the melanoma capital of the world.

Even Americans want cannabis law reform.

Saw this article while looking through space news sites for xenobiology news. Even Americans want draconian cannabis laws changed. I don't know about there being a Roswell cover up or anything but I do recall reading some years ago that most americans believe in aliens and a government conspiracy on the matter. So that result shouldn't be too surprising I guess. I wouldn't normally post an article this bizarre but its actually from Discovery magazine which is one of the most professional news outlets available.

Australians are the biggest recreational marijuana users in the world so law reform is wanted here even more than in America where the prohibition was first initiated by fat cats to kill off the hemp industry. People are clearly tired of being told by big brother how they should live. The fact that marijuana law reform was the most petitioned request to the Obama government illustrates just how out of touch western governments are. Over 70 years of prohibition has bred public contempt for decision makers in government. Locking up harmless recreational users is a burden on police, courts, prisons and the public who must pay for this ridiculous enforcement of an unwanted prohibition.

Enough is enough. Drug use is a personal choice issue. Western governments have become nanny states in which the masses are treated like children and told what is best for them. Its time governments stopped locking up their citizens for life choices that hurt nobody.
