I was sent this email today from a friend of mine - I would say that you have given some people a bit of a wake-up call over the weekend.

Getup.org are asking supporters to give $5 per week to help them fight what they call the ultra- conservatives.

I have copied their email here:

"It's been getting pretty wild out there.

There's a new right-wing force rising in Australian politics, and they’re taking lessons directly out of the US Tea Party playbook – even down to the name. The new so-called "Australian Tea Party" has many backers, but just one message: No.

No to a price on pollution. No to marriage equality. No to pokies reform. No to restrictions on live exports. No to anything that challenges their conservative agenda.

They may speak loudly and shamelessly, but they certainly don't speak for all Australians. Isn't it time the rest of us brought a bit of sanity and reality back to our national debate?

On so many of these issues, GetUp members are a voice of hope and reason -- but everything this community achieves is only possible because of people like you chipping in small donations from across the country. $5 a week can help:
- Pay for strategic opinion polls to show politicians that extreme voices don't speak for the rest of us;
- Build a new online tool to allow local groups to start their own GetUp-style campaigns;
- Support local climate organisers who are already working tirelessly on town hall meetings and community engagement in the electorates of key independent MPs; and
- Produce rapid response radio ads on FM and community radio stations to bypass conservative talkback and bring some facts back into the climate debate.

The amount of fear, rage and hysteria on parade in our national debate recently even prompted Tony Abbott to warn party MPs that, “we don’t want our country reduced to two warring camps.” Yet all this vitriol hasn't come from nowhere -- it's been encouraged by right-wing politicians and shock jocks from the beginning. And despite Mr Abbott's reported call to civility, the puppet masters of hysteria show no signs of really changing tack. In fact, just moments after Mr Abbott told MPs they had a duty to act responsibly, Liberal frontbencher Sophie Mirabella urged anti-carbon tax protestors to "keep the rage alive."

We can't fight rage with more anger; or hysteria with more fear. But we can ensure that our community's more noble voices aren't silenced, steamrolled or intimidated - because most of us truly believe in something better than "no". Click here to make your small weekly contribution:

We're here, in large numbers. We're real. We have real hope for our future and real demands of our leaders to rise to a higher vision of what's possible. They had a full page advert in the Australian -a week ago!

Would have been serious money- all for demanding Gay Marriage.

Got some wierd priorities in this country.?

I'm sure you've heard this before, but they say:-
If you're not a Socialist before you're 30 then you haven't a heart.
If you're still a Socialist by the time your 50 then you haven't a head.

So there's an excuse for the Youth, but the rest of us need to Wake Up.

As always GetUp are off the mark, but have conceded the Australian Tea Party are too strong for them. How is this message conceived from the above ? Well that is easy.

The Australian Tea Party backers are not financial backers, but other groups that have banded together to fight a Government that may well ruin Australia forever.
GetUp need a fighting fund because they need to pay their agitators. The Australian Tea Party are all volunteers that pay their own way to events.
Although we aren't a political party, and do no particularly support a political party, there is no doubt we are not a Left wing organisation.

As for our saying NO, of course we will say:

No to a price on Carbon Pollution. There is no factual reason for it to occur, and will eventually cripple Australia.
No to marriage Equality? We believe in equality in marriage, we just see marriage as being between a adult male and adult female.
No to Pokies reform. This is only getting air time due to a Independent that thought it was funny to force a junior ADFA cadet to salute Hitler. It is ridiculous to expect visitors from around Australia and around the world to enter into a pre-committed limit, people without a gambling habit won't be bothered and those with a habit will be travelling around a circuit of clubs to get their jollies. This type of action is unworkable and will not solve a thing.
No to restrictions on Live export...would be the death knell for many of our cattle stations. All of this occurred due to a knee jerk reaction from the Government following a news story. If this was followed through properly they would discover a small proportion of Abattoirs that use what we consider inhumane. It appeared there was over 700 abattoirs that pass our scrutiny and therefore we do not need to restrict Live Export.
As for the amount of fear, rage and hysteria on parade in our national debate recently, I think they are forgetting statements made in a letter drop document like;The carbon price would only apply to fewer than 1,000 of the biggest polluting companies in Australia – it is not a tax on you and me. Funny, this is a mixture of misinformation and lies, for there are a large number of us including self funded retirees that receive no compensation from the Government therefore it will hit us EXACTLY as a new tax.
P.S. I know there are a few people still arguing that climate change doesn’t exist, but the fact is that 97% of climate scientists working in the field say it’s happening, it’s caused by humans, and it’s already causing us major damage like more extreme weather events and sea level rise. I figure that even if the 3% who claim climate change isn’t real end up being right, not following the advice of the 97% who say we need to reduce pollution now is just not worth the risk.
Another total lie prepared to mislead people to believe their lies, look at the evidence, it shows how far estranged their math is to reality
P.P.S. This letter is printed on recycled paper using environmentally friendly ink. This is a document on the internet someone has to photocopy and deliver, how the devil do they know it is recycled paper

The list would go on, GetUp are actually GetUp for a price, not a voice of the people. The Australian Tea Party on the other hand is made up of a large cross section of society, and we are committed to bringing the truth to the people and fighting against the worst Australian Government that has ever existed.

It is rather a long watch though (about an hour) to find No Impact by GetUp from that audience.

I linked to it only to refer to that debate, not expecting anyone to sit through it , unless of course they became interested by the debate itself.

The point though was to suggest GetUp are all hype, making more noise about making a noise, rather than having any real impact.

I might also liken it to the search for proof of a significant impact from AGW, a la the Missing Hotspot et al.

That remark sidebarred below was referring to the suspected demographic of GetUp, being rather older than they might like to suggest.
Their being no excuse for being so deluded beyond a certain age.

Can you verify with the Press Club regarding the ticket purchase by Get Up? Not that I doubt you but it would be good to see the proof.

My only wish,is that Jullie Gillard would have debated Lord Monckton at the Press club. If Lord Monckton ever tours Australian again, I'll commit to buying her a ticket and mailing it to her,just in the case that she might attend.

Michael, Juliar Gillard cannot debate - you only have to listen to her in question time - she can talk certainly, but she talks and talks yet says nothing. She couldn't hope to debate Lord Monkton.

I haven't heard her actually talk in question time,she resorts to personal remarks against the questioner, 9 times out of 10,as she knows that she can't answer the question.

I am doing much research into Getup and the ties of it's two founders to George Soros and his many tentacles and came across some confirming information that is easier to wade through than the many boring but necessary papers on the US Securities and Exchange Commission site.

I would suggest you look up some articles by Aaron Klein on WorldNetDaily.com titled The usual Suspects and as well Wars and Rumours of Wars.dated Friday September 2/2011

One name that crops up is our old Foe Gareth Evans many of the younger people on here may not be aware of who he is and the makeup of the Whitlam Government but these articles by Aaron Klein are worth a read to enlighten you as to how the Enemy operate and some of those behind this CO2 Tax which is just one of the attacks apon us.

I would also suggest you research the Color Revolutions ,Getup is just another Soros front Group but it exposes the fact that we are now a target for these people from overseas,Labour and the Greens work for people other than us,that is the root cause of the problem.

For those who wonder about Soros some research will expose he has been charged in a number of Countries and has no scruples when it comes to a nations Sovereign rights and therefore your rights.

This aspect especially comes to the fore when it comes to the UN,It's actions and Gareth Evans and Soros as the Klein articles so well cover.

They are a must read in my opinion as so much of it ties into what I have uncovered so far researching databases,there is always a money trail and required reporting in some juristriction or other worldwide.

Please note many of the younger generation on a computer forum I am also a member of who signed on to Getup in support of some of their worthier campaigns in the past ,now have issues with being counted as supporters of getup as they have pointedly said online they do not support Getup in it's current activities.

Seems they have run under false colors in the past to gain members and now the real agenda comes out in the open the so called support is not so great at a grassroots level.

Good to see even on a computer forum Getup has few friends networking is the way forward there are many more who support us,the various groups here show that this is a worthy Umbrella organisation,maybe we should invite CATA to link up as this coverage would benefit all of us.it would be good for instance having some of the CATA people reading Barnaby's musings on the state of those in the bush when we understand the issues overall we all grow stronger.
