BRITAIN'S Foreign Office has urged its nationals to leave the self-declared nation of Somaliland, warning of a "specific" threat against Westerners in the northern Somali region.

Britain had similarly warned of a "specific and imminent threat to Westerners" in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi on Thursday and urged its citizens to leave, swiftly followed by Germany, the Netherlands, Australia and France.

The Foreign Office said it already advises against all travel to war-torn Somalia including Somaliland - a rare area of relative stability - but now urged any remaining citizens to pull out.

"We are now aware of a specific threat to Westerners in Somaliland, and urge any British nationals who remain there against our advice to leave immediately," the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

"As our travel advice continues to make clear, kidnapping for financial or political gain, motivated by criminality or terrorism, remains a threat throughout Somalia."

The trick would be making sure we have the right people over their choosing the right candidate for the effort with a genuine desire to improve their country,Many of those In Australia from Southern Somalia even though having been granted refugee status have voluntarily returned to Somalia for exactly that reason now the Chinese have moved in after the Oil and Mineral wealth and in the process stabilised the country.

Now I have no objection Stephen. Sound a bit like a lawyer ...heaven forbid!

The trick would be making sure we have the right people over their choosing the right candidate for the effort with a genuine desire to improve their country,Many of those In Australia from Southern Somalia even though having been granted refugee status have voluntarily returned to Somalia for exactly that reason now the Chinese have moved in after the Oil and Mineral wealth and in the process stabilised the country.

That makes far more sense than the Used Carr making himself  a Labor big shot giving another $24 million to the UN .

We have some thinking people in Tasmania who say how they feel:

Australia first   

April 8, 2013, 10:39 a.m.

APPARENTLY the Australian government looks set to send taxpayers' money overseas under the guise of foreign aid to countries particularly in Africa.

It's more than a little mystifying why they would give money to countries run by warlords and dictators without a care.

More than $5 billion will be spent this year and all so that we, as a nation, can feel good about ourselves and not be guilty about being the lucky country.

I say stop all foreign aid until everything is solved in this country first, or am I being too utopian?
