I found this in my folders this morning.

I sent it to Sunrise and the Win Morning Show.

I thought it would not hurt them to have a read.

Tomorrow (Sunday 21st Feb 2010) is when the Heiner affair will be discussed in Toowoomba at a meeting there I believe.

Notice the mention of "Peoples' Republic of the ACT" as well.  It is not only Queensland that is referred to as "The Peoples' Republic of Queensland" - that was K. Rudd's reference to Qld.

Bev, a bit of deja vu can be pretyy useful, as it is here. The PM's persona has persued a pretty consistent path, hasn't it.
Cheers alan m
Good post, Beverley. It is always time to be reminded of the Heiner Affair.

What is the meeting in Toowoomba today? And who initiated it?
peoples republic?? whaaaat?
Ahhhhh, Piers Akerman again tells it like it is. What a pity we dont have more juornalists like Akerman & Bolt. These blokes dont care if they upset the government with their comments. True reporting like it should be from ALL the media.
Piers has, over the passed few years, tried to bring the Heiner episode to the fore, but no-one else (media) seems to want to run with it. WHY??
Had to search to find this, Geoff.
I am going to search for more for you to try to find the time etc. Bugger when I can't remember the place where the information actually came from though.
(A little later now)
OK, Geoff,
Go to Ian's link as below and and all about the meeting is on there for you (SOS link to go to).

I just checked a bit better and it is the meeting of the Australians for a Constitutional Monarchy and from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.

Re The Heiner Affair - child abuse in the John Oxley Youth Detention Centre
in the Family Department of the Queensland Government.

I am glad this discussion on THE HEINER AFFAIR was started here because I
did know about it but not the full blown story.
It is all on here to see for those interested in the cover up by Kevin Rudd,
Wayne Swan, Peter Beattie et al.
Remember Peter Beattie resigned very suddently in 2007?????
The Heiner Affair is apparently being taught in the high school curriculum
for years 11 and 12 now.
Kevin Lindeberg is going to address a meeting in Toowoomba on 21st February
regarding the Heiner Affair as well.

For those who would like to learn more, or have their memories refreshed, go

Yes Laurel,
Rudd refers to Queensland as the "Peoples' Republic of Queensland" as well.
It's just Rudd trying to be funny. And failing. Don't read anything more into it than just a poor attempt at humour. We know Rudd wants a republic. It can be done until there is a referendum so don't waste time worrying about it.
If he says it enough times though, people will really believe it.
I hadn't seen his referral to the ACT republic before.
He is not funny at all. He is beginning to look a bigger dill day by day.

Trouble is so does Anna Bligh and our mob in Queensland.
Most people won't believe it because they know a referendum is needed for Australia to become a republic. They know Rudd's love affair with all things Chinese, and will not read any more into than his wanting to pretend.

It really only shows how far into the land of make believe he has descended.
The sad part of all of this is that since 1989 we have had a Labor run government in Queensland with only two short years of a conservative led government.

It is about time people woke up and got rid of the ingrained downgrading of our once prosperous state.

What a legacy to have to take on though - it will take years to get back to some balance - IF people ever come to their senses and vote for a change of government. The baton has just been passed from one spin merchant to another.
Piers Ackerman is spot on!
I am of the view that it doesn't matter who you vote for, a politician always gets elected. Both sides are as bad as the other in their own way.

As a public servant when Goss came to power, I am surprised that Labor has lasted as long as they have, with the way the public service has been treated. However, as a vast number of public servants are now relative newbies, who have been promoted way beyond their level of incompetence and owe their lofty position solely to the Labor government, I guess I can see how they have managed to hold on for so long.

I guess I can't complain too much though, because is only because of Goss's restructure of the public service that I have reached the lofty position I have. But I don't consider that I got there because I was entitled to (like today's lot) but that I only got there because of the Goss restructure that changed the classification levels and instead of being promoted because you were on the top of the list and it was your turn, you got promoted because you could bull@#$^ you way to the position (not that I did that - I still believe in promotion by merit not just seniority, but you have to have the runs on the board and have the experience as well as the gift of the gab). I applied for a job just the other day and thought that my experience would be enough. It wasn't - I didn't big note myself enough - something I simply can't do.
