The time has come to crank up the computer and conduct warfare against the enemy, viz., Labor, Greens and PM Julia. The Federal election is thought to be on 21 August, so there are ca. 5 weeks to change peoples minds on how to vote. We were successful in defeating the ETS bill, so let's hone our computer skills to defeat Labor.

Let this discussion be about how to do this effectively, and new ways to do it.
I am using both Facebook and Twitter to get the Coalition message across and to harass the enemy. Each day I have 2 or 3 tweets pouring scorn on Labor policy and Julia et al. Also, I use Facebook and Twitter to link to certain policy articles I have written on Helium and Associated Content, such as this one: "Australia's Renewable Energy Policy Madness"
Also, the Greens are always throwing mud at multinational corporations, so on Helium I put: "The Benefits of Multinational Corporations", to counter their fear campaign.

What else can we do?

Judging by the latest poll the Coalition is ahead on 1st preference and Julia hopefully will self-destruct. It is the Green preferences that will give Labor a win. Green vote is up to 13%, from ca 7% previous election.

Therefore it is very important to concentrate one's effort on destroying the Greens credibility re policy. I am doing this by cranking up my activity on Facebook and Twitter giving alternatives to Green policy, also rubbishing it. If all Agmates tried this it may give us a win?

Yep, quite nasty.
Without sounding like Maxwell Smart. A mate, can we leave it at that? Tells me there is sufficient active and strategically placed 'gismos' around the world to as good as close down the net for a sufficiently long period of time to disrupt instant communication via the net.

We 'may' not be building ICBMs any more, but missiles to take out satellites is now 'the business' as is protecting the dedicated military satellites.

Take the Drone warfare. The people who 'fly' those things finish their shift and go home for dinner in Washington or wherever and another 'pilot' sits in the chair and continues the 'mission'. All done by satellite. So far no one has managed to disrupt them, as far as we know.

As for 'expanding bait' the best source I have found is Agmates.
Thanks Geoff.
That's just the information I need.
I shall fine tune my attack.

Colin, I understand the Europeans are going to send up GPS satellites called Galileo by 2014. Russians have their own but not open to the public called GLONASS. Chinese and Japanese also going to have them.

The Taliban probably use the US system. They might also get around using local knowledge. Technology isn't everything
Well then you won't mind me rubbishing the Liberals/Nationals.
I understand there is a document containing some 35 lies that Howard told while in government. Did Abbott ever oppose his boss on any of these? Or did he just obey orders? If so is he really a leader now or obeying orders still?

He has already said work choices is "cremated" yet still might resurrect it in 3 years. Howard did that. Got government on the promise that "Never ever a GST" then waited 3 years and brought it in anyway.
This is so true Martin. They all do it, say we will never ever do this or that until they get in and then they go ahead and do whatever they please.

What chance have we got when politicians are being handled by a bunch of spin doctors who don't give a bugger how many lies are told as long as they pick up the votes.

Someone please tell me why these bloody politicians are allowed to get away with blatant lies every time an election comes around. And not even just at election time. We believed Rudd and the rhetoric, look what we got.

Martin just for the record I don't believe Abbott ever opposed Howard on anything, if he did I can't remember him doing so. Costello maybe but even he was not seen to be doing much opposition until he didn't get what he wanted, the leadership, which was supposed to be a done deal, then he chickened out and wouldn't go for a spill and he should have. No, they all went along with Howard and the party policies at that time too.

So here we are again, election time and this time we might see our first one term Federal Government and they have no one to blame but themselves. They have let more and more ex-union officials sit on the bench and give the orders and direct proceedings during one of the most important times the world has seen economically. They stuffed up Martin, big time.

But just perhaps the liberals would not have thoroughly wasted the surplus had they still been in office. They would have had to spend it but not blatantly wasted it.

Our cost of living has gone through the roof. I have no idea whether there would have been a better scenario now under a Liberal Government but it certainly couldn't be worse.
So lets put the sitting member last and put them all on notice to do better or be unemployed?

John Howard: "No, there's no way that a GSTwill ever be part of our policy."
Journalist: "Never ever?"
John Howard: "Never ever. It's dead. It was killed by the voters in the last election". - John Howard, interview, Tweed Heads Civic Centre, 2 May 1995
The Truth:
"The bills before the House will enact a broad based goods and services tax that will be levied at 10 per cent and will start in July 2000." - Peter Costello, Treasurer, A New Tax System (Goods and Services Tax Bill), Second Reading Speech, 2 December 1998
Scuse me if anyone has already said this about Howard and the GST.

At least Howard had the guts to admit that he had changed his mind, and he put the GST ON THE AGENDA for all to consider at a General Election and WAS elected.

It has been, up until recently, the State's Tax. Now, the current Labor want a large % of the GST back to pay for their promises on Health reform. The only non Labor government in Australia, in WA in case you have forgotten us, said no. There is some story about Peter and Paul and theft that I cannot remember?... The Eastern States get too much of our GST as it is!!

It is an historical fact that Keating wanted to introduce a GST but did not have the intestinal fortitude (guts) to do it, so it never happened.

If Labor get reelected we will have to wait and see how much of that GST money you get back in Health reform? My money is on a Labor Treasurer looking for landfill for his big black hole of debt. It only needs a glitch in the Chinese economy and the Forward Forecasts aren't worth a cracker!

The other matter to consider is whether the GST has been good for the States?

As far as I am aware, if it is possible, without the GST, the Labor State Governments would be 'more broke' than they are now.

(Sorry about the more broke for the grammar purists, but you know what I mean)

Sorry again! Just seen it has been said before! Worth repeating though!

Sometimes comments, from me, just don't appear where I intend. Now I find my comment is below what has already been written!
Everyone get in touch with the ABC and the KO'B Show feedback and tell them to tell Julia to stop moving her hands around. And stop saying 'moving forward'. I turned it off.

It's all illogical to me. The hands take my mind off what she is saying. Perhaps that's what they want.
Geoff, as I have mentioned in other posts geologists I have worked with reckon its a natural cycle- not man made. This is actually WORSE since we can't fix it. If the climate changes significantly a lot of people will starve

Abbott like Howard (and many politicians) is an opportunist. He will say whatever he needs to win votes. Like Howard waiting 3 years to bring in the Grand Stealing Tax it is likely Abbott will do the same with Work choices.

Did we as Australians want to join a Asian Common Market? Were we asked?
Roger, Howard did NOT change his mind anymore than Abbott is changing his mind about work choices. They simply LIE, get elected and do what they want anyway.

As to Keating and a GST- just as well he had the sense to give it up. The ALP originally opposed Howards GST but now its in they are as bad as he was since they are doing nothing about removing it

I understand that sales tax only affected small numbers of companies. Now everyone is affected by GST.

And you even pay 10% GST on the excise tax on fuel. Why are we being taxed on another tax we are forced to pay?
