Hi all,

Some changes happening at the moment:
1. The default profile photo has been changed to get rid of the blue question mark.
2. Also, changing how replies are ordered - they will now appear in chronological order, instead of being "threaded" as before. Let's give this a try and see how it works.
3. We've turned the swear filter back on .... and tried to set it at a level that is not too sensitive.
4. Made a few changes to the main page layout.

Please let us know if you see any major problems.

Good luck to the team, with all the continuing upgrades.

Something weird has happened with the Reply to This function. There are currently 2 such keys below each post until the thread runs out of reply space. If one clicks on the top one, eg immediately below your name above, it opens an edit type screen. If you click on the one below, and to the left (as i have done now), the function works normally.

Needs a look

PS As distinct from all the other choices of where to go today, I figure that most of us might visit here, so I hope you don't mind my making a personal point. It concerns the diminutive, Mikko. Both Bro' John and I are just that to a heap of our outside friends/associates, not all known to each other of course. But here, through prior rights and his ongoing role as a Jounalist, Bro' John is Mikko and having joined later, although the elder, I respect that 100 percent. A few old hands have of late also been calling me Mikko (as in alan, southern or whatever) and I do appreciate the goodwill in that. But I think it will only cause confusion. So Mikko, or John Mikko for the young bloke, alan m, alan or al for me, please. Just so long as you don't call me latefordinner, as I think I already said somewhere here ;-( al.

If you identify one of these - you might insert this in their profile photo so that we are aware of their existence - I think it is a Troll

Hi Al, good points about the names to avoid confusion. Re the new reply feature, I've just posted this back to Bev on my "Trust Julia" thread. (I think it's a good move but like anything new, will take getting used to):

Yes Bev, it's a new change which automatically takes it to the bottom of the thread and copies the whole of the comment you are replying to. If you don't want to post the whole comment again, just delete all except the bit you want to quote. Eg see I have deleted your bit about The Insiders. I think it's a good move and if you wanted, on long threads you could add at the bottom of the quoted bit (see previous page, or page 22 - whatever).

You promised me that i could have that as my profile pic! I am shattered! You even put it on my page! I particulary like the finger up the nose - yes, we all do it! Ooh Aah!! You know we do! lol

We could use it for a tame Troll Cate - maybe one from central west of NSW

But ahhh ..... I think I can now see how the new system is working. Old Folks like Neil and I do need a little space, to work these things out!

I see that the last post on each page of a discussion now has this 'double whammy' Reply To option, and if you pick the first, it:
a) Adds the relpied to message, or any edited part of that message, above the new comment, and
b) Takes your new comment to the end of the thread.

Yeah, think I can handle that :-)

Rothflmao - Mr "Grumpy" on the phone, he says he is " not amused" although hes IS laughing!!!!!

He is trying to figure out how to get water to run up hill - and he is having a brain explosion!!!!!

Mr Grumpy! Yes well Melbourne and Adelaide worked it out so that they could become a parisite on the MDB.
