A father of seven children will spend 8 months in jail starting Wednesday as a result of his efforts to the defend the unborn.
It is the longest jail-term ever received by an Australian pro-life activist.
Graham Preston, 56, was called by police last week to arrange a time for his arrest. He negotiated to move it back from 8am to 9am this coming Wednesday, May 2, so he would have enough time to get his children to school.
Mr. Preston will serve 232 days in prison - seeing him out just in time for Christmas - for refusing to pay roughly $8000 in fines that have accumulated after ten years of non-violently blocking the entrances of four abortion clinics around Brisbane.
Since beginning non-violent direct action with the group Protect Life almost exactly ten years ago (April 16, 2002), Mr. Preston has endured more than ten months in jail over five separate jail-terms - mostly in Brisbane’s maximum security Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre.

Here's a good article for you from Ann Coulter...

Isn't it a bit rich to condemn a single act of non-fatal violence against a group who is not associated with the individual, while remaining silent on the numerous cowardly murders committed and publicly advocated by right-wing conservative groups against their assorted "targets"?
8 murders (including "collateral damage" deaths), 17 attempted murders, 41 bombings and 173 arson attacks in the US alone:

So Rory, do you condemn all these attacks as "right wing violence", and further condemn the groups that advocate such attacks, such as the so-called Army of God?

Ann Coulter's article should be read in it's entirety.
For those who are not inclined to explore this topic in further detail, here's the punch line (right at the end of the article)...
"I wouldn't kill an abortionist myself, but I wouldn't want to impose my moral values on others. No one is for shooting abortionists. But how will criminalizing men making difficult, often tragic, decisions be an effective means of achieving the goal of reducing the shootings of abortionists?
Following the moral precepts of liberals, I believe the correct position is: If you don't believe in shooting abortionists, then don't shoot one."

Permalink Reply by Phillip Watson on September 6, 2012 at 7:30pm Ignoring for a moment the way the blog author has added a ridiculous amount of spin to the subject of the article, surely you must agree that without some reduction in the Earth's population growth, at some stage the planet will either fill up (to "battery chicken" stage), or there must be some event that will prevent such a level being reached, be it famine, disease or natural disaster.
The Earth has a finite space, it can't fill up forever.

In another grisly case, last year abortionist Kermit Gosnell was arrested after allegedly slitting the spinal chords of hundreds of newborn babies who were born alive in the process of an attempted abortion.
Permalink Reply by Stephen Cox on December 2, 2012 at 8:03pm Phillip if you actually do some research in many nations population control is not an issue in fact many nationalities likely Australians who were here more than thirty years ago are not having enough children to be sustainable as either a race or nationality.
The Glaring exceptions are Muslems who see overpopulation as a means of gaining power across the world and section s of tyhe african and asian communities who in the case of asians see big families as we see retirement savings a means of support when you grow older.
Africa God only knows what they think when it comes to out of control breeding as surely they see the mass starvation that has led to in front of their own eyes.Hence why so many wish to migrate of all faiths.
There is hope though as it seems many Somali's from Australia wish to return to build a better Nation with the new Southern Somalia now being a Soverign State,They still have the issue of Muslem extremism from the North to contend with though as do Kenya and many other places in Africa.
China on the other hand needs to make and use better quality Condoms.
Japanese people as a race are dying out when you look into it so check it out.

You're right Stephen, for many nations it isn't an issue. Japan is one of them.
Australia's birth rate is quite healthy, and even without immigration our population would still be growing. Undoubtedly our country can still support a higher population, but at some stage we will (along with the rest of the World) reach our limit.
At some time in the future, the population of the World will have to cease to grow. Every country will need zero population growth.
Muslims represent less than 2.5% of our population, and growing very slowly (The Buddhist population is growing faster than them, and both are dwarfed by the growth in the Atheist population), so it will take an awfully long time before muslims represent a sizeable population here. While it's true that their birth rate worldwide is high, I think that's more to do with the socio-economic conditions in those countries than their faith. The birth rate in developed/rich Islamic countries (eh: Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey) is no higher than in developed western countries.
Whether you like China's "one child policy" or not, it has been a very effective brake for their population growth:
Honest Government, Fair Rights to property and compensation, Australia and our people strong and proud, reinstatement of values and respect
