For Like minded people who like to see-
An influential professor who worked as an assessor for the UnitedNations IPCC has called for democracy to be replaced with aneco-dictatorship where enslaved masses are ruled over by an “elitewarrior leadership” and forced to adhere to a new green religion, inyet another shocking example of how prominent global warming alarmistsare revealing themselves as dangerous eco-fascists.
Professor David Shearman, MD, is Emeritus Professor of Medicine,University of Adelaide, and a Visiting Research Fellow at theUniversity’s Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences and LawSchool. Shearman was an Assessor for the Intergovernmental Panel onClimate Change Third Assessment Report and the Fourth Assessment Report.
In his writings, Shearman, who labels humanity a “malignanteco-tumour” and an “ecological cancer,” says that “authoritarianism isthe natural state of humanity” and that in order to save the planetfrom man-made climate change, an “elite warrior leadership” needs to beformed that will “battle for the future of the earth”.
Part of this battle involves replacing traditional religions likeChristianity and Islam with a new green religion that would fit betterwith an authoritarian government.
“It is not impossible that from the green movement and aspects ofthe new age movement a religious alternative to Christianity and Islamwill emerge,” writes Spearman. “And it is not too difficult to imaginewhat shape this new religion could take. One would require atranscendent God who could punish and reward – because humans seem toneed a carrot and a stick.”

In an article posted on the Doctors for the Environment Australiawebsite (of which he is President), Shearman laments the fact that“behavior modification” by global warming alarmists is not workingbecause most people have been brought up in “liberal democracies” thatallow them some semblance of freedom. He calls for, “Enforced ruleswhether at the collective level through carbon trade with penalties ORat the individual level.”
“The first step to overcoming this obstacle, Professor Shearmanwrites, is persuading the governments of the world that curtailing theright to have children is an absolutely essential part of the fightagainst global warming,” points out Haunting the Library blog.
Shearman quotes a letterthat appeared in the Medical Journal of Australia which discusses howchildren having the temerity to breathe is harming the planet and that“population control” needs to be enforced as part of a “secondecological revolution”.

Personal carbon trading: a potential “stealth intervention” for obesity reduction?
To the Editor: Eggermakes novel and valid points in his portrayal of individual humaneffort as a potential contributor to offsetting greenhouse gasemissions by personal carbon trading.1Of course, there is an even more potent strategy humans should adopt tomodify climate change through their own activities — population control.
Anthropogenic greenhousegases constitute the largest source of pollution, with by far thegreatest contribution from humans in the developed world. Every newbornbaby in Australia represents a potent source of greenhouse gasemissions for an average of 80 years, not simply by breathing, but bythe profligate consumption of resources typical of our society.
What then should we do asenvironmentally responsible medical practitioners? We should point outthe consequences to all who fail to see them, including, if necessary, the ministers for health. Far from showering financial booty on newmothers and thereby rewarding greenhouse-unfriendly behaviour, a “BabyLevy” in the form of a carbon tax should apply, in line with the“polluter pays” principle.2Every family choosing to have more than a defined number of children(Sustainable Population Australia suggests a maximum of two3)should be charged a carbon tax that would fund the planting of enoughtrees to offset the carbon cost generated by a new human being. Theaverage annual CO2 emission by an Australian individual is about 17 metric tons,4 including energy usage. As the biomass of trees in a mature forest sequesters about 6 metric tons of CO2 per hectare (104 m2) per year,4,5each child born should be offset by planting 4 hectares of trees, toallow for the time they take to reach maturity, and attrition throughcrop losses, bushfires, dieback and so on. This infers a levy per childof at least $5000 at birth (to purchase the land needed and planttrees) and an annual tax of $400–$800 thereafter for the life of thechild (for maintenance of the afforestation project) (based on1990 figures,4 and probably much more now).
By the same reasoning, contraceptives, intrauterine devices, diaphragms, condoms andsterilisation procedures should attract carbon credits for the user andthe prescriber that would offset their income taxes, and lead torewards for family planning clinics and hospitals that provide suchgreenhouse-friendly services.
.. . instead of controlling the environment for the benefit of thepopulation, we should control the population to ensure the survival ofthe environment.6
As doctors, I believe weneed to think this way. Our responsibility extends further than thepatient on the other side of the desk. As Australians, I believe weneed to be less arrogant. As citizens of this world, I believe wedeserve no more population concessions than those in India and China.
Permalink Reply by Peter Jesser on January 9, 2011 at 9:28am Thanks for this post, Laurel (and Matt). It is disturbing because this extremism is being peddled using the "nice" face of the medical profession as a cover. Are these people dangerous? I look at it this way - these people are more likely to have a conversation with a senior government minister than you or I are. They are more likely to find their way onto advisory panels than you or I are. That is the bottom line.
Attenborough is quoted in a rather twisted context in Laurel's second response (above) - just like the Nazis used out of context quotes to peddle their vile message.
"Final solution" is stamped all over these rantings.
Permalink Reply by Laurel Ender on January 9, 2011 at 10:46pm what I find so disturbing is that Shearman is in a position to create/influence the couses taught to all students that enter Uni adelaide medical studies right now and while ever he remains in tenure.
and Dr walters in WA would also have similar influence I think.
I wonder how many of his patients end up being sterilised?
going to have a dekko at the DEA webpages, curious me.

-------From their Cancun page-
Unfortunately, on present evidence we do not have a leaderin either party who has as a priority, the leadership of a Green GrowthInitiative. But as individuals and organisations we can have a “just doit” philosophy applied to those issues we can influence because theyhave an impact on health. Our policies are already framed this way butwe cannot let the magnitude of the problem depress and deter us. TheJust do It philosophy cannot yet apply to Australia or its States butit can apply to local communities, councils and to our communityorganisations which can fill the void until secure internationalagreements become possible.
We must use our influence to stop further financing of coalpower. Action is the art of the possible and our profession can havesome influence on banks which finance the coal industry.
In Australia it now seems likely that there will be a carbonprice leading into cap and trade. In supporting this strongly to theMinister we must, along with all other NGOs, insist on no hand outs topolluters.
We must be vocal in supporting renewable energy industry inAustralia for it is falling apart for lack of funding. We must continueto explain that renewable energy is probably cheaper than coal takinginto account all coal’s externalities including the cost of adversehealth impacts.
Through our population paper we can work for an ecologically based population in Australia. Read our paper here and set this example to others.
Permalink Reply by Laurel Ender on January 9, 2011 at 11:07pm heres the summation of their paper from above..
Doctors for the Environment Australia recommends that a nationaltask force be formed to prepare a scientific report on anenvironmentally sustainable population for Australia.
This report must be based upon scientific, demographic and healthscience and not on the opinions of community sectors with conflicts ofinterest. The intent will be to provide the data upon which governmentpolicy can be reliably based.
An assessment is required of the wide ranging impacts andconsequences of population growth on our environment, economy, energysecurity and infrastructure.
This task force should take into account an increasing international obligation for Australia to reduce its carbon footprint.
The deliberations of the task force should be both nationally andregionally based, for example the available evidence suggests that thepopulation of South Australia may have already reached its limits andthat we are moving into adverse health impacts, the limiting factorsbeing water and long term desertification. By contrast populationlimits in Northern Australia may be influenced by national security andthe advent of environmental refugees.
The views of industry, commerce and developers should be madeavailable to the task force but the independence of the report isintegral to enlightened scientific deliberation. The influence ofpowerful sections of the community must be divorced from thedeliberations of the task force and we therfore oppose thesedeliberations being brought under a Federal Ministry.
Interesting a National taskforce they want? but NO federal oversight?
so whos funding that (taxpayers) and who is in control of it?? this lot of ultragreen NON qualified AGW believers..

Okay, well they have their's and Buckley's of converting Islam to a green religion.
Not so sure about the rest of the heads in the sand Australians though.
Professor David Shearman needs to get off whatever it is he is on or take something for his delusions.
Here is his page link http://davidshearman.org/
He does have a few books for sale! Pfffff... Saving for his old age?
