Carrying on from the other election topic.
I am campaigning Australia and I need your help. The method of voting is a bit novel, and some can get caught up in it and waste time and energy debating it. Please don't.

The vote is a non vote with the same message on it each time it is caste. The message will be worked out democratically by those supporting the campaign. I already have floated a message that is up for discussion.

Promoting the campaign is crucial, we are basically calling our own referendum on the system of parliament and government over the whole country.

Humanity is due for change if it wishes to keep inhabiting this planet.

English language is becoming the main language of the planet and to have the word Party describe the ruling government group as well as gatherings of people to dance, drink, ect is a mistake in it's self. A system of individual representation in parliament is where I see it going but I think we need a referendum on it.

Sustainability=Agenda21 and LA21!

John
I respectfully suggest you ask a few of the AGMates members of their take on this issue. I might further suggest you wear your asbestos overalls when hearing their answer! ;-)

Please define for us what is meant by Sustainability? Are you saying that we don't live sustainably at the moment?
I can't get past the first two paragraphs of your post....and your request to not debate it.
If you are suggesting that people cast an informal vote, you are off your rocker. Don't waste your vote John! No matter how many people write "whatever" on their voting cards, it is an INFORMAL vote and it will never see the light of day!
What are you thinking? Hippy voting?????????
ok so the non vote is a bad idea, lets work with that. THe other option is to have a opt out vote on the paper or even better for your preferences as well. It is the air of hostility, that unsettles me. We are all human beings living on the same earth I am not a hippy I kill my own meat I work hard. Why the name calling.

I am not trying to change the name of Party. I believe it illustrates the intention when it was organised int he first placed and the fact it is used all over the world only illustrates it further. My opinion is that the system was set up from the beginning to not be taken seriously by the average person and the use of the word party illustrates this. If you appreciate my opinion say so and share your own if you don't I can accept it but why do you have to say it is wrong. I change an opinion but it has still been there and it was never wrong the only thing that could be wrong is if it wasn't actually my own opinion and I had just adopted from somebody else with out putting any thought into it.

Anyway I've got a one man crusade to run so I am busy busy busy
Firstly John, I apologise for my perceived name-calling. I certainly did not mean to infer that you are a hippy. Definitely not! It is an expression I use, that's all.
I hate our voting system, right down to the fact it is compulsory. IMO I think it would be far better if voting was non-compulsory, that way the votes of only those who really understand or care are counted.
Like Colin, I also need clarification of what you mean by Sustainability.
John
I was working at a polling booth when we had the referendum regarding our National Anthem, despite the number of people who wrote it on their referendum paper, 'Good Old Collingwood Forever' did not get up as our National Anthem! ;-)
sustainability has become a bit of a catch phrase at the moment so I think it most likely means different things to people. For me to have a stable mind and be at peace with your life and if you are not then to feel support by the community that you live in is the essences of sustainability. I believe if we work towards creating community where this is held dear we are on our way and all the popular topics attached to sustainability in present climate would be solve or found to be nothing more than scare mongering

Compulsory voting is undemocratic.

I would never have enrolled if I'd realised at the time I 'd get a $50 fine for not voting. I find that law disgusting. If I could unenroll now I would. I usually vote for Mickey Mouse out of spite.

I resent being forced to do anything. I was born into this democratic capitalist system of ours. I have never had a say in whether I wanted to be a part of it. I have no respect for authority as I believe most politicians are genetic garbage and unworthy of any respect. Fining people for not voting sickens me. I'd be happy to vote if I wasn't given an ultimatum to do so under threat of financial retribution if I don't. People are struggling out there and the governments answer to every problem is to fine the public and further fill the treasury coffers. Politicians, police and lawyers all break the law on a daily basis with impunity and the rich are also basically above the law. Yet the public are treated like cattle and told what to do on every issue. I'm just waiting for a violent revolution to start so I can rid the country of a few pigs.

There is nothing lower than an australian pig.

Doing so probably got us into the mess we are in now.

I have no idea of how non-voting would help us under our current government and attempting to get people to actually do this is a exercise in insanity. We need to remove labor, not non-vote and permit them to remain in power, before they wreck us with their insanity. I agreed,we do need change, but this is not the way forward. I also think electronic voting is a no-go as with the hacker groups out there,if someone or a group of people decided to hack the system,it would promote chaos.
